Immortals - 9
"Almost done", the Doctor murmured to himself. He had finally found his spare part, hidden under a bag of half-eaten jelly babies, and the power source was complete. A-Day was tomorrow and had had decided to materialise just outside the Earth's atmosphere to watch the last embers of human life before he snuffed it out completely. There was a thick cloud of swirling white cloud over Asia and most of Europe, and the seas beside them were as blue as cut sapphires. Underneath his daydream he heard a low whirring noise like mechanical cogs turning. "Beautiful, isn't it?" he said into the open space.
"Isn't it just, sweetie", River spoke from behind the console with Missy in tow. She had a blaster in her hand, loaded. "Don't do this. You know you don't want to, you know you don't need to. Gallifrey will stay where it is and humanity will survive, or I promise I will kill you".
"No you won't. I'll die of old age before you pull that trigger". He shut the doors, leaving the starry blackness behind, and turned his full attention to the two women. River's face tore into one of resentment and fired an ice blue bolt just above the Doctor's head. It left a burnt mark in the interior, and the TARDIS seemed to scream in pain. The Doctor looked just above the door at the black mark on the metal and crossed his arms like a parent to a naughty child. He clutched the sceptre more tightly and sent a single ray towards River's hands. The blaster fell to the floor in a pile of grey ashes, and River's eyes widened at the sight of it. But the sight that shocked them most was River clutching her broken hands in agony. Crimson blood seeped from her sleeves and the reality of what had just happened hit her like a bus. The Doctor, the one man she trusted more than anyone, had hurt her. On purpose. Not as a reaction, nor as defence, but for fun, she guessed. Spots of blood dripped onto her dress, which rippled and she tore off her bracelets to see what the damage was. Her skin was badly burnt, second, maybe first degree burns, and a long cut ran from the end of her fingertip to her elbow. She didn't know what surprised her more, the sheer power that the sceptre had or the merciless action that she knew the Doctor would never even think of doing. The Doctor looked back at them with a sneer across his face, and revelled in the horror on their faces. "See, this is what I wanted. My girls". River scoffed.
"We will never be 'your girls'", she retorted.
"The queen", he said pointing to River. "And the Mistress". He looked at Missy, who looked quite disgruntled at her demotion to just Mistress.
"No", River replied. "I will never be a queen, and I certainly don't want it this say".
"Well then. What about you Missy?"
A/N : Sorry it's shorter than usual. I've decided that there's going to be two endings to Immortals, a 'good' one and a 'bad' one. The one with the most votes/comments will be the official one. Thanks, my lovlies! - L x
