- Wine Type of Day -
I smiled tiredly as I got everything ready. Two different colors of balloons, two different birthday cakes and two different birthday gifts. All for my two completely different children..
Let's start with Yosuke:
He's a very quiet person, but he loves to point out when you're wrong. He has a hard time admitting he is wrong, though. Mostly because he usually never is. Despite his quiet and loner type nature his favorite color is pink. Also, he doesn't really get angry much. He only get's mad when his food isn't fairly portioned or is taken.
Next, we have Yusaki or Yuu for short since she doesn't fully know how to spell her name. She also likes to occasionally enter the room to the soulja boy theme song with a mask and cap.... ya'll know the song. Then an only then you MUST address her by her super hero name, The All Frightening Yuu.... Yeah I know... I told her that sounded like a villain name too. MOVING ON.
She's very protective of her "older" brother since she was technically the second of the twins to pop out. She...a very energetic child to say the least. She isn't afraid to voice her opinion, and trust me she does it a lot which is quite interesting since she can't really read or spell most of what she's arguing about. But usually when she's losing an argument she just lashes out and cries. She loves every color. She doesn't really have a favorite anything. She just refuses to like whatever her brother likes.... even if she really like the item/thing.
I sighed in relief as I added the finishing touches to the birthday cakes. Just as I was adding the last candle my two lovely children came running in. And, of course, they were arguing. Yosuke ran and hid behind my legs as Yuu ran after him angrily shouting, "NO! YOU CAN'T LIKE THAT I ALREADY SAID I LIKED THAT FIRST!"
Their bickering caused me to lose my footing. I slipped trying to grab the table and the table knocked over. My motherly instinct said to protect my children, so I pushed them out the way. The table fell. The cakes were ruined, and the gifts were crushed. Let's just say the gifts were expensive and the cakes took three attempts each to make.
I looked back at my children who had a very scared and sorry look on their face. I stood and dusted myself off. I took a deep breath in and a deep breath out. They both starting yelling about how it was each other's fault.
I silently put my hand out in a stopping gesture, and followed it by doing a mouth zipping gesture. They hushed, fighting back tears as they prepared for the lecture.
"Now....I'm not gonna yell at you two because today is you guys birthday, but I will say this. BOTH of you are wrong. It took me a lot of effort to make all this happen for it to be destroyed in less than 5 seconds. Now, I have to go back to the store and try to recreate this again. Since this took me 5hrs to do, I will be taking me an hour nap before going back to the store again. Now, listen to me carefully. While I am napping I want you to go to your rooms, find a corner and sit there thinking about what you two did," I said.
The two began talking over each other again, yelling. I couldn't or more importantly didn't want to hear it because 9/10 they were arguing about irrelevant shit. I stopped them immediately.
"AND! If I am woken up to more arguing and yelling today's birthdays will be cancelled. Am I understood?"
They both pouted and nodded before entering their room.
I sighed in relief. I was so tired.
"Thank goodness school starts for them soon, so I can finally get some peace during the day. I think I deserve to get myself a bottle of wine."
I closed my eyes and prepared for my nap.
"MOM!"
I shot up at the voices to see both of my children smiling at me with hands behind their back innocently. I looked at the time. It's only been twenty minutes.
"I thought I said-"
"We know! And..." Yusaki started.
"We're sorry..." Yosuke finished.
"But we fixed it!" they both said.
I looked at them confused. How could my 5 year old children POSSIBLY fix the cake and present dilemma? I sighed.
"Okay, show me." I said.
They both turned to one another before nodding.
"TADA!"
They showed me a paper ad for an indoor carnival.
"What is this?" I questioned.
"It's a carnival! They do birthdays, and you don't have to cook and clean up after us," Yosuke started.
"And! It's not that far and we can even make some friends! So, you have time to relax!" Yuu cheered.
I looked at the paper and they were right. There was a carnival, but there were two big things wrong with it. One it cost $200 per birthday child and it was the Konoha Carnival... It was in my old town.
"Sweeties, I am proud that you guys realized your mistake, but I can't afford that. It's a $400" I said.
I technically could afford it, but was I willing to pay $400 for a carnival... no
"Nuh uh! It says it's only TWO dollars" Yuu said as she pointed to the two.
"No sweet it 2 HUNDRED per PERSON," I explained.
Yuu began counting with her fingers. Welp, I see she inherited my failure to do math.
"We got it for free.." Yosuke said.
I looked at him confused.
"What do you mean?" I asked. He realized his mistake so he stopped talking. That's how I know he did something wrong... cause he won't admit it. Yuu but in.
"WE CALLED!" she cheered.
I crossed my arms as I questioned.
"Is that right?"
Yuu smiled and nodded.
"Yup! It was full price, but Yosuke just kept telling the guy he was wrong and that he had two appointments scheduled for today."
I looked to Yosuke disapprovingly.
"Is that right?" I questioned.
Yosuke just twiddled his fingers.
"Yup, the guy said because of the misunderstanding we get a free gold passes too! Yay!" she said.
I sighed because Yosuke definitely inherited my manipulative and sneaky tactics. Like these kids are so smart when they put their brains together. Almost dangerously smart.
"I want you two to know what you did was wrong, and to never EVER lie to someone. Lying is for life or death situations ONLY" I said.
Not expecting this reaction from me the two became sad.
"We're sorry..." Yosuke said.
"We just wanted to make up for earlier..." Yuu said.
I sighed. Why do I feel like I'm being manipulated?
"But, it is your birthday and you two did manage to get free tickets so grab your jackets lets go," I said.
"YAYYY" they cheered as they quickly got ready.
I sighed once again.
"Yup. definitely getting wine after this."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As I drove, I couldn't help but notice the sign that said Now Entering Konoha.
I sighed...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We checked in and my kids ran off.
"Hey you two stick together! Remember, no speaking to strangers! And no fighting people! That means you, Yuu!" I exclaimed.
The place wasn't too large, and since it was indoors I could clearly see where my children were. I sighed in relief, and "rested my eyes".
NO I AM NOT NAPPING! That would be irresponsible of me since my kids are just wandering around a random place. But... after resting my eyes.. I awoke an hour later. Apparently, it was now time for the employees to sing happy birthday to my kids and bring out the cakes. We gathered around a table along with the friends that they made today. Cause hey, the best way to make friends is with cake, right?
I smiled as I took a picture, capturing the moment as they both simultaneously made wishes. Knowing my children and I know them well, they most likely wished to comeback here. I can't promise that... not with these prices but I can at least allow there friends to come over sometimes. So, I made friends with some of the parents.
Everything was perfect so far until-
*Scream*
I look back and Yuu was pulling this girls ponytails and sitting on her back. I quickly grabbed her before we made an even bigger scene.
"Yuu what did I say?!" I questioned sternly, but before Yuu can answer Yosuke spoke.
"The girl was tryna give me cooties. She said if I don't tell her my birthday wish she'd give me cooties. I don't want cooties! But if I tell her what I wished for it won't come true! Yuu was in the RIGHT!" he said as sternly as he could, but there were clearly tears forming on the brim of his eyes.
I smiled at least they're sticking together. I sighed.
"Okay. Well, talk about this later. Don't cry you're not in trouble. Now come on, grab your jacket. We're leaving. I'm not spending $100 for an extra 30mins of play time," I said.
They nodded happily and went to grab their jackets. Just as we were about to leave.
"Wait~ momma I have to use the bathroom," Yosuke said. I sighed and saw a nearby bathroom by the exit.
"Okay, there's a bathroom over here. Now, do you need me to go inside with you?" I asked. Yosuke shook his head no, and ran into the bathroom. I turned to Yuu.
"Do you need to go to?" I questioned.
She shook her head. I know she was lying. She just didn't want to go cause her brother was going. I was about to continue to persuade her when someone called my name.
"Vivian?"
I turned and to my surprise... it was Sasuke. TO MY FUCKING SURPRISE OF ALL THE FUCKING PEOPLE IN KONOHA IT HAD TO BE HIM! I pretended like I didn't know him.
"I'm sorry, I think you have me confused with someone else," I said.
"But, momma your name is Vivian. Why are you lying it's not life or death?" Yuu interrupted.
I mentally wanted to fall off a mountain right now. However, Sasuke seemed a bit said to hear me be called momma. I kneeled down towards Yuu.
"Sweetie grown folks are talking, okay" I said. She pouted, but nodded.
I turned back to Sasuke about to speak when Yosuke came running out the bathroom.
"Mom! Mom! They have super cool pictures in the bathroom can we come back next year for my 6h bday?" Yosuke was excited.
I never truly seen him this excited unless it was about food.
"We'll see sweetie," I said. I looked back at Sasuke to see he had his head cocked to the side confused as he looked at Yosuke. Sasuke went into deep thought, probably trying to connect the dots. It was pretty simple math even for me. I left Konoha 6 years ago and have two five year old children. One, being almost a spitting image of Sasuke. I decided now was the best time to leave since he was distracted.
"Well, it was nice meeting you SIR. I must be going now," I said as I quickly walked out.
Sasuke called my name out, but I ignored it. I quickly buckled my kids in the car and drove home.
I watched as they ran out of energy and fell asleep in the back seat. Today must've been the best day ever for them.
As I watched the road, a sign for the liquor store came into view.
"Sadly for me, to day couldn't have been any worse..."
