In this alternate universe, everyone has a twin somewhere in the world. The twin will always be similar in personality, voice/language, beliefs and feelings. They will be opposite gender, different ages, and will live at random places throughout the world.

The older siblings can pass down knowledge to the younger, and sometimes younger siblings don't have to go to school because of this.

There are rarely twins born of the same mother, even rarer of same gender. There are almost never triplets or more. There has actually been only two documented cases of triplets.
