Side Story
Mental hospital
It was at the time I was in that hospital that I actually started to make my first friend. We shared rooms. We did everything together and talked about random things, especially about our lives before entering this place. At first when I arrived in that place 5 years ago, when I was first taken to the room I'd spend all my time in, she sat in the corner or the room, always sitting there and didn't even say anything to me for a few months since meeting her.
"Akira, this is Camilla" our doctor introduced us to each other "Camilla, this is Cece Akira. I hope you two will get along. Making friends is very good for helping each other get better. I hope you two will grow as people and attend all the supporting groups going on" the doctor tapped my shoulder and pointed at the wall, showing me a piece of paper taped on the wall "that's your schedule for the week. It's printed out every Friday and posted on mondays. If you attend 5 out of the 7 classes, it'll earn you a gold star" I stared at the schedule and nodded "lunch will be served in your rooms while morning and dinner will be served in the mess hall. If you have any questions, many are here in this handbook" he handed me a handbook that wasn't all that big. I'd say it was about a quarter centimeter or so "you'll have fun here" He pet my head "I know it" he gave me a assuring smile I eventually returned brighter than he expected.
"Thank you so much, Doctor" I bowed "I look forward to participating in all the activities"
"A-All?" I looked at his shocked face confused.
"What's the matter?" He cleared his throat and looked at his clip board.
"Nothing. If you may excuse me" He thought for a moment "Would you like something before I go?"
"When is my luggage going to get here?"
"We are currently looking through it for safety caution"
"Of course. When you're done, and if possible, may I have my instrument?" He and even the girl looked surprised to know I own a instrument.
"Oh! I'll see what security will say about that" I nodded and waved him off. It was just me and the girl, who sat on that corner like it was the only place to sit.
"Hi, I'm Camilla" I smiled. She just stared at me with part of her hair covering one of her eyes "I know that doctor told you my name, but it's more formal to do it myself. It's nice to meet you" She looked away, not wanting to talk to me "I understand. I won't make you talk to me. We'll be roommates, and that's all we'll be. Hopefully we can become friends eventually" I removed my bag I was allowed to wear and set it on the bottom bunk, since the top bunk looked more decorated than the bottom, and what I mean by decorated... there was a lot of scratches on the walls and blood. So she's crafty.
The distance between me and Cece was far. She never spoke to me, nor ever participated in the activities where the group would express each other's feelings and even take the time to build up skills and maybe even draw something. Cece was rarely around and stayed in our room. Security often had to force her to get out and enjoy the fresh air with the rest of the lovely patients here. It's a bit overwhelming that they choose to stay away from me, but I'm not lonely...
It was that one day my doctor approached me as I sat in the play room that changed our relationship "Camilla, dear?" I looked up at him coming towards me with my Kalimba in hand. Everyone saw this happening since we're not allowed to have personal belongings with us "This had finally be approved"
"After 3 months?" I excitedly took my instrument.
"Yes! Since you've been a good girl, I'll let you take this" I smiled brightly, making him blush a lot.
"Thanks a lot! I'm so happy!" A lot of people were staring, including Cece, but I ignored it and hugged my precious item my dad got me. I teared up just holding it "I'm so happy... My dad gave this to me before he died" I smiled at him again "Thank you"
"My pleasure" his smile widened a bit. Something about it... "If it's something this precious to you, I'm taken that you can play?" I nodded, staring at his strange smile "will you play something for your friends?" Whenever a doctor or security guard says friends, they mean our peers who could be called a classmates or inmates "I'm sure the sound will be just as beautiful as your beautiful eyes" I stared at him for a long while.
I never mention this, but ever since I came to this place, this doctor always had his eyes on me. Not so much in a perverted away, but in a romantic sense? I couldn't really tell. He's the only male doctor out of all the mean old ladies who take care of us. He seems to only care about me and all the girls try their best to stay away from him. I can understand why they try to stay away from me, but why him?
"I play" I admitted, smiling.
"Great!" I looked at my "friends" pretending like they weren't looking now, but they couldn't help glancing their eyes towards our direction. Cece's eyes were all on us "Play something" I nodded and held the Kalimba up before carefully running my fingers on the keys that made everyone snap their heads at my direction when I started playing my sister's favorite song
I hugged my Kalimba and smiled to myself, thinking of my sister's smile whenever she hears me singing and playing my instrument. It's the best feeling in the world.
Everyone around me were delighted by the music and clapped for me. I giggled and waved to them all, knowing they've forgotten that they were afraid of my presence earlier.
"That was beautiful!" My Doctor clapped "you should perform for us more often!"
"I'd love to!" After exchanging our goodbyes, I finally let out the breath I was holding in. It's strange to say that I'm disliking him more and more. I didn't like him from the start ever since he looked at his clipboard with a confused expression the first time he left me in my room. He's been holding a strange vibe more and more lately. It's a bit concerning.
"Yo" I looked in front of me to see Cece sitting across from me. I was a bit surprised "That was a nice piece you played there" I smiled.
"Thank you!"
"I don't get it. You're so sweet, lively, outgoing, and talented? What are you doing in a place like this?"
"Was it my music that made you interested in me now?" I teased. She shrugged with a smile.
"What can I say? I don't bother with things that don't catch my interest" I nodded.
"Got it" we started talking about random things and it soon turned into a friendship. I finally stopped feeling lonely when she finally decided to speak up and confess her reasoning behind her not talking to me. I always enjoyed our time, and there was never a dull moment. Even if we spoke a lot about each other, I could tell she was careful about asking me about my life. Whenever she ask, I get a dark aura surrounding me that even she can feel, like the rest of my inmates.
We sat in our room before it was curfew and I sat there with the light on, reading a book. Cece peaked from the top bonk to look at me. I looked at her climbing down to sit with me.
"What you reading?" I showed her the cover.
"A book about home remedies and first aid. It's really useful" she played with her lip, like she was trying to figure something out "am I keeping you awake?"
"Not really. I've been thinking" I closed my book to listen "There's a reason why you came here to this hospital. It wasn't for no reason. I don't know if your kindness is just an act or what. I want to know" I frowned.
"What do you want to know? It's not like my life is interesting. I was homeschooled and I have a young sister"
"Yeah, I know that and all, but you always seem to hide the reason why you're here. I told you why I'm here" she told me this after a month of talking to me. She told me she was placed in here because she was locked against her will by her mother who used her as her toy whenever she's drunk or high. She'd take her out and beat her and starve her to the point where she stopped functioning and stopped growing from lack of nutrition. That's well over 4'7 feet and is covered in scars. She didn't look well enough to tell me her story, but I was the only person she felt like she could trust "Please tell me, Camille" I ignored her lack of not knowing how to pronounce my name and looked down, rubbing on my book.
"You came here because you were horribly treated by your mother. It wasn't your fault. What I've done is my fault. Have you noticed that almost everyone here is afraid of me? Do you know why?" She listened "they feel my dangerous aura staring at them. I don't want to get into too many details, but they should be scared of me. You must be lonely enough to not feel it" She looked down, hiding her eyes with her hair.
"I was lonely... I wanted to trust someone. I want to trust someone who would listen and tell me more about themselves-"
"What you're asking of me is selfish" She flinched, looking at me "I'm still not over what happened... Cece-chan. This recently happened" she followed the trail of tears falling from my eyes "you've been here longer than I have. I would had thought you understood..." I shut my eyes "I lost my dad... I witnessed his murder"
"C-Camille" She gulped "I'm sorry... I won't ask anymore questions" she took my hand "I'm here for you. I hope one day we can get out together. I want to meet this sister you adore so much" I giggled.
"She's great and outgoing. You'll love her!" we laughed together. The guard outside our rooms instructed lights out and to go to bed. Cece climbed to her bed and I turned off my lights.
"Camille?" Cece called.
"That's not how you say my name" There was a short silence.
"It's impossible to say when we'll be getting out of here. I doubt we'll get out together" I smiled.
"Let's spend our days here together until it's time for us to part. We'll be fine, okay?" She didn't say anything, as if she fell asleep. I sighed to myself and closed my eyes, waiting for slumber to take over my body.
I was only asleep for a few hours before I was awoken by noises coming from the other side of the room. Cece was digging through drawers and stuffing things into her small pouch in a hurry. I sat up from bed and yawned.
"What are you looking for, Cece-chan?" I asked, sleepy. She quickly looked at me and quickly sat by me.
"We're getting out of here" I blinked slowly, not following "Look!" She showed me a key card.
"Where did you get that?" She looked confused at my expression, not understanding why I was responding like she was showing me a Bobbie pin or something.
"I stole it while that doctor was talking to you the other day in here" he's always in here to talk to me. It's obvious that his full attention is on me, but I didnt even notice she took it at all "we can get out of here! I've spent months on this plan!" She showed me a piece of paper with a map and arrows, probably for around the hospital. She started showing me the plan, but I didn't really want to listen.
"So? What do you think?" She asked, eyes sparkling in excitement "I've been thinking this over. We might not leave this place together, so this is the only way! What do you say? We can be on the run together!" I took out the book I was reading earlier and opened it.
"That doesn't sound like something I would do. I'm sorry, but I don't intend on being on the run. That would require me to stay away from my family and hide. I'm not doing that" her face looked devastated.
"B-but it doesn't have to be that way! Camille... they won't recognize us-"
"I'm sure you've thought of a wonderful plan when we're out there, but I have my own plan. You need to think about yourself. It's the only way you can grow. It won't be good if I was there behind you"
"But you make everything better! You've been the only reason why I smile! I never smiled before... Please" she took my wrist "Come with me" I pet her head, watching her tears falling like a storm.
"You go... I'm sure we'll see each other someday. Remember. I live in Unova." I took her hand and wrapped her up pinky finger around mine "Don't Forget me, and I won't forget you" She looked down.
"You were always the straight to the point person... You have my highest respect out of everyone" she let go and stood up, still looking down "I'll find you someday. I swear it" I smiled.
"Be careful out there" she nodded and walked to the door, then looked back at me.
"You sure?" I nodded. She sighed and looked at the door before coming back to quickly hug me. I stared at her shoulder surprised as she did this. She wasted no time and ran back to the door to use the key card and ran out like hell. The alarm went off a few minutes after she escaped. I turned on my lights and continued reading my book, not even caring if my door was wide open.
After awhile of the annoying alarm going off, it finally stopped. Someone immediately rushed into my room. It was my doctor and some guards. I causally looked up like everything was normal, as I always treat a serious situation.
"Where is she?!" A guard shouted at me, pointing a gun at my direction. I removed the blanket from my legs, making them shout at me even more to not move. I remained still as they said and watched my doctor approach me carefully.
"Camilla, we don't want to hurt you" He's walking towards me as if I was a wild Pokémon about to attack "Please tell us what happened?"
"What do you mean?" He kneeled down to me.
"Akira escaped" I wasn't that surprised. From the plan she told me, or from what I could remember, she was clever in her details "what happened? The door was wide open, why didn't you escape too?"
"Me?" I chuckled "why would I risk having people trying to track me down? I would rather get out of here with your approval. I'm here for a reason after all" I closed my eyes "when I'm able to leave, I want to become better"
"I can't believe you actually stayed. Anyone here would had taken any opportunity to leave" I looked back at my book.
"Well, I'm different. I want to make a honest leave. I want to take all the classes and learn more and have it eventually help me" he looked at the guards and waved them away. When they left, he placed his hand on my knee, confusing me.
"I know you're different, Camilla" the way he said my name caused chills to go down my spine "That's why you're one of my best patients. You never talk back to me and participated in everything this place has to offer" his hand raised to rest on my shoulder as he came closer to me "you'd take your medications without hesitation and listen to everything the doctors have to say with a smile. You truly are a wonderful person" his face was inches away from mine, causing me to automatically move away and accidentally ended up laying down, which gave him the opportunity to climb over me and pin my hands over my head. His smile turned into a smirk "You're so wonderful... it's hard to not do anything about it" I blinked a few times.
"What are you doing..?" He raised his arms above me to lock my hands in handcuffs and trap me on the edge of the bed. He's... not doing this... Is he?
"Now I can finally play with you. Everyone is out looking for Akira, so they won't have time to come here and check on you, not while I'm here" his hands trailed down from my hair, to my cheeks, and towards my neck, lightly squeezing it "this won't hurt, I promise" he giggled "maybe" I stared at him blankly as he took his time to admire my body before ripping my night gown all down until I was half naked in my underwear. My blood was rushing through my body "lovely body... mind if I..." he reached for my breast "touch?" So much joy was building inside in me that I couldn't control myself from holding in my laughter. He stared at me confused.
"H-He-hehehehehe!" I giggled "Oh... Do you have any idea what you're doing?" My eyes widened, becoming blood thirsty. My smile also grew wide, enough to make him back off. I ripped the handcuffs off the bed without hesitation and quickly grabbed his hands to force him to wrap them around my neck, squeezing them on my skin.
"W-What are you-" he started sweating, unable to remove my firm hold.
"You did this to yourself... Do you have any idea why I got in here? You have no clue, do you?"
"I-I dont understand. The med-"
"They're not strong enough to keep me from snapping!" I screamed my lungs out the loudest I've ever screamed for a solid minute, damaging my voice until I finally heard stomps coming towards my room.
"N-no! Stop! Stop!" I continued to scream, forcing his hands to scratch me in all places before the guards showed up and removed the man off me. I crawled in a ball and started crying, holding the neck I forced him to choke. The evidence of his hands touching me was perfect enough to make him regret touching me like that.
"It's okay, it's okay" one of the guards who came into the room told me, trying to calm me down. He removed my cuffs with the key that was on the floor. I held my neck not only to hold the pain he caused, but because my voice was gone. I sobbed and jumped into the guards arms, hugging him. He rubbed my back and assured my safety. I looked up at the guards trying to pull my doctor out the room. He noticed my smile from across the room, staring in horror as my eyes widened again in a mocking way. "You shouldn't have done that~" I mouth.
Everything quiet down and the guard finally let me go. I covered myself as best as I could with the blanket "come on, I'll take you to the infirmary" he took my hand. Something was poking me on my thigh. I looked down and noticed a necklace with a Rose Quartz Crystal around light yarn. This belonged to Cece...
I took the necklace with me and took the guard's hand, laughing to myself that no matter what I go through to be treated, I will never change...
This is Camilla hospital story and meeting Cynthia! This was one of my first drafts and I finally got to post it as a side story! Hope you liked it!
