*Chapter 9: Pokestar
I ignored the guy I purposely almost punched but stopped, as we followed Roxie to Pokéstar studios "Please! At least consider! You are simply amazing! A natural talent!" He continued to beg. I stepped on my foot to stop immediately, almost making him run into my back.
"I told you I'm not interested" I said normally "I don't care what you have to say about this movie. I couldn't care less, and I simply don't have time"
"But you're the perfect candidate for the audition! I've seen the way you move when you defended yourself and saw how beautifully you played! You'd be an amazing heroine! I can see it now! You can even get paid to do this!"
"I don't care about money" I started walking again.
"It pays good!" I sighed, not really in the mood to deal with this sort of thing.
"I don't care" Nate turned his head to look at the guy.
"We don't have the time, and even if she did, she's not allowed to participate" I nodded to confirm that, just wanting to be left alone from this stranger who's been following us for a long while before and after he showed himself. It was making me uncomfortable.
"Not allowed?" He asked "we can work around it"
"Oh my Arceus, can you just shut up!?" Roxie snapped "We're on the way there now, so be quiet and don't follow if you're just going to be yapping the whole time!" The man didn't say anything after that. I sighed in relief and looked over at Nate staring at me. I smiled and held his hand, holding his arm after and rested my head on his shoulder.
"Do you not like movies?" He asked.
"It's not that I don't like them. I'm simply not really interested in them. Books are better for the most part, but I'd watch a movie with Rosa in it any day!" I smiled, cuddling close "but I can see you as the hero. You're so handsome and strong. I'd watch that movie" he blushed, looking away.
"Stop that" I laughed and looked back at the man following us, on his phone.
"Hey" he looked up quick, looking excited to speak to me "Did you know Rosa?"
"Who doesn't know Rosa? She's brilliant in the acting world! She starred in a lot of movies that were a hit!"
"Tell me more about her" he looked confused on why I might not know about her, but I didn't bother explaining myself. He nodded and thought about it.
"She always gives it her best effort and looks so convincing in her role that we often get nervous when she starts crying during filming on a sad scene" I remembered seeing a movie where she was crying. Even if it was actually convincing, I knew that wasn't how she cried "In real life, she's quite shy and doesn't talk unless someone talks to her" I bit my lip and looked straight.
"Shy?" Nate questioned "I don't remember her being shy" He told me. I didn't say anything, knowing it was my fault, and finally made it to Pokéstar studios. I could tell Nate expected me to get excited and run off somewhere, so he gripped my hand, but I was simply not in the mood and hid behind him.
A place this crowded... so many people to entertain. I can only imagine how this place might've changed her too. I know a thing or two about people around people who care about the algorithm, and it can change someone easily.
"Where would I find the old man?" Roxie asked herself before turning to the man "Yo, any idea where my pops is at? He's the captain of the ship" she pointed at the big ship on the side of the city.
"Oh, that guy? He's actually premiering his movie debut soon" Roxie looked at him funny.
"So he had the time to waste making a stupid movie? Fine, might as well watch it" She sighed. I tugged on Nate's jacket.
"Nate-kun! Can we watch the movie too?" He arched his brow at what I called him "Sorry, I sometimes slip a honorific behind a name. Just shows how long I've been away" I nervously laughed. He looked at the two we were with and shrugged.
"I don't really care. Let's go see this movie so we can leave already" I cheered and took both his and Roxie's hands.
"Awesome! To the movie theater then! Lead the way, afro guy!" I said outloud. The man was about to speak before laughing at the nickname and guided us across the studios filled and some food stands with performances and performers, probably aiming to become famous.
"There's a lot of people here" I said outloud.
"It's best to not separate" Nate said, moving pass the crowd.
"It's strange enough that we're going to his debut, but it'll be stupid if we miss it" Roxie complained. I chuckled and kept on walking, instantly feeling my hand slipping away from Nate's grip. By the time I looked around for him, he was nowhere in sight around the crowd.
"Oh no..." I frowned, looking around "We got separated from the guys" Roxie took me to the side where no one was walking through and groaned.
"Great, just great!" She messed up her hair "I guess we better look for it ourselves. How can we find anything with so many people around?"
"N-No way..." I heard someone say from a distance. I didn't bother looking for the voice until a random pair of arms pulled me into their arms and hugged me. I blinked confused, looking at a head of blonde hair with green tips on it "Rosa! I was so worried about you!" The guy squeezed me "I missed you so much" not liking being suddenly hugged by someone I had no emotional bond with, I shoved his face away from me, showing me his shocked expression.
"I think you got the wrong person" I backed away and hid behind Roxie. I shouldn't cause a scene in such a crowded place "Good bye" I waved. The boy looked puzzled before looking hurt.
"R-Rosa... Don't you remember me? I'm your boyfriend! Look, I'm sorry for what happened, but you don't have to act like you don't know me" I blinked confused, not amused.
"Oh? Are you the reason why my sister is so shy?" Something inside me thought about how could my confident sister end up the way she is now. A significant other could be the reason, and it was enough to make my blood boil "Well?" I widened my eyes and widened my smile, making sure Roxie wasn't looking at me, but made the boys face go blue "Are you?" Someone held my hand, snapping me out my trance and look at Nate looking at me.
"There you are" he said. I cheered and jumped into his arms.
"You found me!" He caught me bridal style and turned to the boy looking at us funny. Nate didn't even look phased as I snuggled him up, but I felt the heat on his face as usual.
"R-Rosa..." the boy started shaking "H-How could you do this to me-" I lifted my foot to stop in front of his face.
"Is it the face that made you think I'm my sister? Obviously you're blinded right now, buddy. Did I mention Rosa is my sister?" He was taken back.
"Who are you?" Nate asked "Are you causing trouble?" He asked me. I just laughed and hopped out his arms.
"I-I'm Christoph... I'm Rosa's boyfriend" I leaned in to his face to get a better look. He looked nervous, yet innocent. I don't believe he's the source of her shy behavior, but as her sister, I must be protective.
"Don't look like much" he bit his lips. I laughed and moved away "Just kidding! You're alright!" I pet his head like I was slapping a table "I'm sure you've been taking care of my sister up until her disappearance, so I won't give you a bad time, but..." I leaned into his face again "If I find out something that's worth noting, I'll keep it in mind" he looked down "Welp" I backed away "It was nice knowing you! You're not really worth my time. I better get going. Good bye" I waved, took Nate's Hand, and walked away with Roxie following. Nate tugged on my hand.
"What did you tell him?" He asked "he looked scared" I tapped my chin to think.
"Did he?" He furrowed his brows "I didn't say anything bad!" I waved my hand, depicting that statement.
"I was told to not let you talk to anyone by yourself. You stay put and don't make my job harder than it needs to me!" I saluted.
"You got it!" He walked us to the theater, feeling Roxie staring at us the entire time until we found the afro guy waiting for us.
"There you are!" He ran to us "The movie is about to start! Here, I got you three tickets so you can watch it for yourself" he handed us some tickets "I'll only let you have them if you listen to my offer" I sweat dropped.
"But I already have the ticket" I waved the ticket he gave me. He slummed down, which made me laugh "Fine, we'll do it your way. Let's watch this movie!" I looked at Roxie looking at me curiously. I just smiled and tugged on their hands to run into the theater, where we watched a very confusing movie I ended up laughing at because the hero lost to the villain.
"That was..." We walked out the theater after the movie ended "Awful" Nate said. Roxie looked too exhausted to say anything.
"I hope you had a good time" the afro man walked up to us "how did you enjoy the movie?" The captain we saw earlier walked out the theater after us "What's the matter, cap?" Roxie frowned at him as he turned away.
"I've..." he softly chuckled "I've always dreamed of making my debut on the silver screen... now I've fulfilled that dream..." he looked down "Different people have different talents. I knew it all along, but I see my daughter striving to balance the responsibility of being a gym leader while pursuing her own dream of being in a band-" I dozed off the more he talked. Nate shook my arm to wake me up and see that Roxie and her dad hugging, making up.
"Awe, that's sweet" I smiled and looked at Nate keeping an eye on me "What? Do I have something on my face?" I touched my face confused. He ignored me and walked forward. I hurried to follow before the afro man called me.
"You promised!" I stopped and looked at him facing me. I never promised anything. Nate stepped up and faced him.
"She's not allowed to be filmed or photographed. She never promised anything, so it's irrelevant. I'll offer to pay for the tickets you provided us" the poor guy looked absolutely defeated. I figured to just do what I said I would do and stepped up to pat his shoulder.
"Okay okay, I'll go see what you want to show me. That's as far as I'll go. We really need to leave as soon as possible" I turned to Roxie and her dad "Thanks for having us!"
"What did you say your name was again?" she asked. I proudly told her our names "Camilla... You're looking for your sister. Perhaps we can exchange numbers so I can help with the case" Nate nodded and walked up to her to collect her information while I walked up to the afro man.
"I don't have an interest in making a debut like the captain, so I hope you show me something interesting" Nate looked over at me and glared "I'm not saying anything!" I stuck my tongue out.
"is he your boyfriend?" Afro man asked. I smiled at the thought.
"no, he's my body guard" he looked at Nate confused.
"Are you famous already?" I giggled at the assumption.
"Not to the public" Nate came back to us before I was questioned "lets go see what the afro man wants to show me!" the guy sweat dropped.
"My name is Derek, actually" he gestured his hand to show us the way. Nate and I followed as I looked around and used my Pokédex on random Pokémon around with their trainers.
"Cam" Nate called "What did you say when I was talking to Roxie?"
"I was just telling him I have no interest in being an actress. That's all on my sister. She's greater than I can ever be" I put my hands together in awe "a rising star, very talented. I wouldn't dare to compete" he smiled a little.
"You love Rosa, don't you?" He looked down "What do you think will happen if she rejects us for doing what we did?"
"Oh..." I slowed down my pace, making him stop and face me while Derek kept walking for a bit "I wouldn't really want to think of that happening, but do you really want to know?" He stiffen up again and glanced away.
"Everytime you say that, you make me not want to know" I chuckled and went up to hold his hand.
"No, seriously. You don't have to tell me what you did, but do you want to know?" He looked back at me "Well... In all honesty, I'd probably kill myself" his eyes widened as I winked, which made him angry.
"Suicide is not a joke, Cam" he lowered his voice. I looked at him serious, almost throwing him off.
"Who said I was joking?" I held my heart "the only reason why I'm alive is because of my family. If I become disowned like you, what's the reason to live?" The conversation took a dark turn. I lighten up the mood by giving him a hug "who knows, maybe one day I'll find my reason to live. Right now, I want to live life to the fullest. I can only hope Rosa won't hate me..." he softly hugged me back, surprising me.
"I'm sure you had your reasons... Rosa is very forgiving" I frowned and buried my face onto his shoulder, feeling my eyes burning at the thought. I want to protect and find my sister as fast as I can, but I can't just sit and lie to her about where I've been or what I've done. It's like I said before, I'll live my life to the fullest, but I can't imagine being disowned...
"You're really brave..." I said "Being disowned, yet you still have a reason to live. Whatever you did couldn't be as bad as what I did, so I'm sure she'll forgive you... but I can't be forgiven. Whatever I did, what do you think?"
"I don't believe what you did was as bad as what I did. We can fight on that all we want" I smiled "I think you'll be okay. Whatever you did, I won't judge you for it. I'm sure you had a reason" I moved away and held onto his jacket, squeezing tightly.
"They were a good reason, but I could had handled it better" I looked at Derek watching us in awe. I felt a bit of heat and looked away while Nate eyed him.
"What are you looking at?" Nate asked. Derek smiled and kept walking. We arrived at the studios where they made movies with a large green screen. I was simply amazed at the sight and ran on top of the green screen.
"This is so big! Can you make me look like I'm sitting on top of a plane flying?!" I laughed, having a good time. Nate just looked annoyed.
"I don't know what you guys were talking about earlier, but it sure felt emotional. Were you guys rehearsing or something?" Derek asked "It almost brought tears to my eyes at how you looked at each other" he smiled "You two seem like a nice couple" Nate looked more annoyed and looked away.
"So!" I held my hips "What is it that you want me to do?" Just as I asked, a big guy in fancy clothing walked in and faced Derek.
"Mr.Stu deeoh! Just in time" I choked in laughter at the name "This is the young lady I was telling you about on the phone" the fancy man faced me with a pleased look on his face.
"Bonsoir! Hello! I'm Stu Deeoh! Charmed, I'm sure!" I waved my greetings with our names while Nate crossed his arms "Camilla, a pleasant name! I'm sure you are in need to get somewhere right now, but like what Derek spoke of before, we need to ask you for a favor"
"And that would be?" He handed me a flyer with Rosa in costume as the heroine "Oh!" I gasped at how good she looks in the costume "That's my sister!" I showed Nate "Look! Doesn't she look cool?" He smiled a little and nodded.
"I was told that she was your sister, but I never thought I'd meet you so soon" I looked at the man confused "All Rosa has done is talk about you, even if she claimed that you haven't been around for awhile. I shouldn't go into details, but since you two are related and look almost the same, we would like for you to help finish this movie for her" h-huh..?
"I know you're not allowed to be filmed for whatever reason, but the stunts you've pulled earlier was incredible!" Derek said "You'd be a perfect stunt person" stunt person? "That way, you can act like Rosa and not show your face. It'll be good for all of us"
"I suppose that's not a bad idea..." I looked at Nate to confirm "It does sound cool... What do you think?" He shrugged.
"You're allowed to do whatever you want. I can't pull you away if you like to do it, so go for it. If it's for Rosa, I don't have a problem with it" my eyes sparkled and faced the guys waiting for an answer.
"If I get the chance to make Rosa look cooler than she is already, you can count on me!" The guys and the whole crew cheered. I clapped excitedly and froze when feeling someone approach us. I hid behind Nate and was faced with the villain who we saw in the last movie. Something about him... I don't feel comfortable with the look he's giving me.
