White Spot in a Dark Place

I trawled my imagination

For light in a very dark place

But I knew as I spoke of the dark space

The doctor would see only me.

So I fudged up a bit of a story

The doctor still staring at me

And as I looked back at the doctor

I wondered what he could see?

Could he see right into my dark place

To the very heart of me

Or only a mark on the surface

A glimmer of who I may be?
