"So thats pretty much it!" Legolas said. he had just finished giving Elladan and Elrohir the tour of Greenwood. 

"Cool! So what do we do now?" Elladan asked. 

"How about a nice good-natured prank!" Elrohir suggested. 

"A-a prank?" Legolas asked. "Isn't that...bad?" 

"Bad?"The twins said in unison. "No no no it's just fun......at other people's expense." He said the last part very softly so Legolas didn't hear. 

"Oh. It won't hurt anyone will it?" 

"Nah of course not! We don't do pranks of that caliber yet!" 

Legolas gave a little nod, but he didn't miss the 'yet' in the sentence. 

"Oh come on! It'll be fun!"

"I don't know. My ada might get mad at me." Legolas said uncertainty. 

"Pshaw our ada is mad at us almost everyday!" Legolas still looked scared and wary so Elladan posed a deal. "Look. you can watch us do a prank first, you don't have to do anything, and we'll do it to someone from Imladris. You'll see that it's fun and end up doing great pranks with us-"

"Or you'll totally freak out and decide that ultimate fun isn't for you and quit before you start. You'll never get in trouble cause you didn't do anything. It's like a risk free trial so to speak." Elrohir finished. 

Legolas considered it. On the one hand his ada could get mad. And no one liked it when his ada was mad. On the other he was just going to watch, and the twins made it sound so fun! "Okay I'm in." 

"Yes! Watch and learn" They began to animatedly tell Legolas about their plan.

Later that night the three elflings were in an elf from Imladris' bedroom. The twins were rigging up a device above the door. 

"I don't know about this," Legolas said worriedly.

"We've told you a million times! You won't get in trouble. You'll see, it's fun!" Elladan said back a little irritatedly. 

"There!" Elrohir said triumphantly. "All finished." The twins stepped back to admire their work. 

"Sooo what exactly will happen?" Legolas inquired warily. 

"Once we close the door the trap will be set." 

"The first person to open it will get a bucket full of honey dumped onto their heads!"

Elladan and Elrohir laughed heartily. They stopped when they saw Legolas staring at them. "It's funny." He continued to stare blankly. "Oh come on! Loosen up! It's not even that bad!  Erestor will smell great for days!"

Legolas looked to be at war with himself. "Well, I still don't think you should." Suddenly they heard soft footsteps coming up the stairs. 

"End of the line, kid. We'd better make like a squirrel and run if we don't want to be caught!" the three hurried out of the room, closing the door carefully behind them, into a little closet down the hall. They could see the prank being set off if they kept the door open a fraction. 

Legolas saw a dark-haired stern looking elf coming up the stairs. He walked over to the booby-trapped door. Legolas held his breath as he made to open the door. The twins watched with huge grins on their faces. 

The elf-Erestor-opened the door, there was a slight creaking sound, he jumped back--but not fast enough. He was thoroughly doused in sweet-smelling honey.

the twins stifled laughter and pulled the closet door shut. They looked to Legolas and found him trying desperately not to smile. "I knew it!" Elladan crowed happily. "You liked it!" 

"It was a little more enjoyable than I had expected. But he'll be okay won't he?" Legolas said.

"Oh yea, yea he'll be fine!" 

Then they heard the indignant yell from the hall, "Elladan! Elrohir! I know it was you!" 

Fear instantly flooded Legolas face. He opened his mouth to say something but Elrohir clapped his hand over it. "Shhh!" They waited in the closet until they heard the footsteps walking away. 

"Okay," said Elladan, "Legolas, how good are you at lying under pressure?" 

The young prince was close to hyperventilating and was white as a sheet. 

"Okay then, I'll take that as not so very good at all, so Legolas you make a beeline to your room or any other unassuming place that you frequent often and me and Elrohir will work out our alabi's ourselves."

They pushed open the door and they split their separate ways. The first prank was done.
