Chapter 2: Teamwork, Maybe?

Tsuki's POV
I woke up when it's still dark, the sky was barely lighting up due to the rising sun. I went to the bathroom to change into my usual attire and to brush my pixie hair, I clean my glasses and slip them on. I went back to my room to slip on some knee socks and my knee length boots, then I wrapped my utility belt around my waist.

I walk out my room only to meet my half awake sister who's all dressed and ready for today's exercise. She tries to glare at me, but it just turns out to be a slight scowl. I ignore her and walk downstairs and walk out the door with her trailing behind me. I make it to the training grounds and find a sleeping Naruto on the floor and a glaring Sasuke standing with his arms crossed. I nod my head as a greeting, but my sister being the number one of his fan club, runs up and latches on to him like he's some prize. I snicker when Sasuke pushes her away, which causes her glare in my direction.

I take out a book and read while I wait for Kakashi sensei to arrive. I lean against one of the three posts, as I read while Sakura lies on the ground to catch some shut eye while we wait. I lose myself in the plot of the story, and as I read time seems to speed up, the sun is already shinning above our heads. I ignore everyone, but in my peripheral vision I see Naruto pacing back and forward while complaining about how late our sensei is and how he made us wake up early for no reason.

I see Sakura get fed up with his annoying complaints and stomps her way over to Naruto, punching him upside the head. They argue for a few seconds before we hear a sudden poof. Our sensei arrives with a closed eye smile, making me me put away my book.

"YOU'RE LATE!!!" both my sister and Naruto yell at Kakashi, pointing at him.

"Sorry, a black cat crossed my path, so I took the long way," Kakashi lies about his lateness.

Really, a black cat? That's your excuse, I think in my head.

"Okay, you have until noon to get a hold of one of these bells. You can use any weapons, and come at me with the intent to kill," Kakashi informs us of the exercise.

Use any weapon? Intent to kill?, I thought with a smirk on my face.

"But sensei that's dangerous," Sakura exclaims with worry.

Pssh!! He's not a jounin for nothing, my dear sister, I say in my head.

"Hahaha, that's right, you can't even dodge an eraser, dattebayo," Naruto boasts with a grin decorated on his tanned face.

"Pranksters, are all bark and no bite, so you shouldn't be talking," Kakashi says, angering the Uzumaki.

Naruto charges at Kakashi with a kunai raised in hand. He goes for the attack, but Kakashi being a skilled jounin, he dodges gracefully while pinning Naruto's hand behind his head with such speed, that even I didn't catch.

"Wha-" Naruto cuts himself off as he realizes his position.

"I didn't even say start yet, but you came at me with the intent to kill. I think I'm starting to like you guys," he says before muttering the last part.

"Now, Ready, Set.....START!!!" Kakashi yells, starting the exercise.

Okay he's a jounin, there's three bells and there's four of us. What is it?! Think, think, think.............. That's it! How can I be so stupid it's teamwork, I say and scold myself in my head.

I run off into the surrounding forest along with Sakura and Sasuke. Sasuke hides up in a tree, Sakura hides in the bushes below him and I run trying to think of a strategy to make us all work together. I stop thinking, halting in the process  when I hear Naruto yell at Kakashi.

"Me and you, right here, right now," Naruto shouts arrogantly, pointing a finger at Kakashi.

"You know, compared to the others, you're a bit weird," Kakashi says to Naruto.

"The only thing that's weird here, is your hairstyle," Naruto replies back to our sensei.

"Fine, shinobi lesson number one, the art of Taijutsu," Kakashi says before reaching in his pouch and gets out his book, Icha Icha Paradise.

"What are you doing," the blonde knucklehead asks, dumbfounded.

"I'm reading, of course," our perverted sensei states.

"Why," Naruto asks full of confusion.

"Well, I want to find out what happens in the story," Kakashi says,  turning a page.

Naruto runs at him full of anger, annoyed that Kakashi is underestimating him. He throws punches and kicks here and there trying to hit Kakashi, but the jounin blocks all the attempts with one hand while reading his perverted orange book. Kakashi got behind Naruto and told him about not letting enemies get behind you.

"Forbidden jutsu: One thousand years of death," he exclaims while thrusting his fingers up his ass.

With the sudden force, Naruto flies towards the water holding onto his butt cheeks while screaming in pain.

I'm surrounded by idiots, I thought with sweatdrop, looking at my sensei.

Naruto jumps out of the lake with a determined look along with a bunch of shadow clones by his side. My eyes widen as I see the orange clad ninja use a jounin level jutsu. His clones attack the silver haired jounin, surrounding him to make sure he doesn't escape.

"I thought you said to never let the  enemy get behind you, right sensei," Naruto says with a smile, proud of his accomplishment.

"What," Kakashi exclaims full of confusion as he spots the knucklehead on his back.

"Now I got you, believe it!!!" Naruto shouts as he directs a punch at Kakashi.

Naruto holds Kakashi down with one of his clones, as the real Naruto comes running, punching him in the face. Time seems to slow down as Kakashi, who's in the clone's grip, poofs turning into a Naruto clone.

He used the substitution jutsu, smart, I say in my head.

I ignore the bickering of all the Narutos who are arguing about who's really 'Kakashi in disguise'. They end up beating each other to a pulp, in the end they all poof away, leaving a bruised up Naruto who has multiple bumps on his face.

I turn away and try to find Sasuke and ask him if he wants to work together to get a bell. I dash through the trees looking side to side, trying to find a clad of blue and white. I find him perched on the tree looking down at the upside down Uzumaki and a talking Kakashi. I watch as he suddenly throws a bunch of shrunken that hit Kakashi in accuracy, making Naruto shriek. He and I both see that Kakashi used the same jutsu he used on Naruto. Sasuke takes off running since he revealed his hiding spot, I try to call him out, but it's too late. I see my sister jump out of her spot and chase after him like a lost puppy trying to find it's owner.

What should I do, Sasuke left to I don't know where, Sakura left chasing after him like the little fangirl she is, and Naruto is hanging down from a tree. I need to make us use teamwork. Us gennin can't go up against a skilled jounin all alone, my mind goes on high alert trying to find a strategy.

I walk out of the trees, and go where Naruto's shouts are coming from. I go to the clearing and look to see Naruto hanging from his feet, while flailing his arms in distress. I sigh and throw a kunai at the rope, making him crash to the floor with a thump.

"Hey Naruto, want to work together so we can get a bell," I ask full of hope, crossing my fingers that he'll say yes.

"Sorry Tsuki, but I need to work alone if I want to become Hokage," he says.

Why do I need to have bad luck, I thought as I see him run in another direction.

I get cut off from my depressed episode, as I hear a high pitch scream ring throughout the forest. That must be Sakura, knowing that Uchiha doesn't sound that girly. I run in the direction of where I heard her scream come from. I stop at a small clearing, finding her passed out, lying on the grassy terrain. I lean down and place my hand on her head, giving her little chakra so see can escape the Genjutsu. She groans and sits up in a panic.

"Sasuke where is he? He was-" she cries with hysteria .

"Sakura, Sasuke's fine, you were just trapped in a Genjutsu until I came and gave you chakra," I tell her, reassuring that what she saw was fake.

"Oh," she sighs in relief.

I know this is a far fetched idea, but I still gotta ask, I said inside my head.

"Sakura, do you want to work together, so we can have a chance to get a bell," I ask, hoping she'd say yes.

She looks to the side, thinking about the offer I just gave her, "no, I don't want to work with someone like you," she sneers at me in a cold tone that makes me flinch.

She gets up and runs trying to look for Sasuke, leaving me to stand in my place full of shock. Why does she act like that? I ignore the aching feeling in my chest, as I make my way through the forest. I don't know if I'll ever be accepted by her, but to me she'll always be my sister, no matter what she does to me, she might hate me, she may curse at me, she might ignore me, she could break me down, she may shun me, and she could break my heart a thousand times over and I'll still love her like she's the most precious thing in my life.

I get cut off from my thoughts when I trip and fall to the floor. What the hell? I get up and ignore the little pain I just received and dust off my clothes. I turn around and find a bodyless Uchiha in the ground with only his head being visible.

I tilt my head in confusion, "need help," I ask, not really understanding this situation.

He looks up and glares, "hn, no," Sasuke grunts.

"Just let me help you, Uchiha. No need to get all upset," I say, offering a hand to the ravenette.

"Fine," he finally accepts.

"Okay this might hurt for a second," I say, pulling on his hair and getting him out.

"You're welcome."

"Hn."

"Whatever," I say. "Hey Sasuke, want to work together and get a bell," I ask.

Come on, say yes. You're smart, you must've realized that this exercise is meant to test the team's teamwork, I plead in my head.

"Hn, no, you'll only slow me down," he says, walking to wake my sister up.

Bastard, I'm not weak!!! Come here so I can show you how 'weak' I really am, I scream in my head, frustrated by his statement.

"Idiot!!! This exercise is about teamwork! Do you really think that mere Genin like us can take a fully skilled Jounin like Kakashi sensei, all by ourselves? No!!! Because we're too weak to fight him ourselves, but if we work together we could actually get the damn bells!!! But, no, you guys are idiots, thinking so high of yourselves when you clearly aren't!!! I asked several times for your guys' cooperation, but you all turned me down, so you can fulfill your selfish needs!!!" I shout full of anger and irritation that they won't listen to me.

Both Sakura and Sasuke stare at me, fully shocked, never hearing me raise my voice, always thinking that a calm girl like me would never shout at them and break my cool demeanor. The alarm rings in the distance indicating that the exercise is done. Huffing, I stomp my way back to the spot were we all started, still angry at the duo behind me. I make my way back and find Naruto tied up against a post. As I make it in front of the posts, my stomach instantly growls in hunger.

Stupid sensei, making me skip breakfast, food is meant to be eaten not skipped, I thought in my head.

"Oh! Do I hear stomachs growling," Kakashi asks. He gets answered with a chorus of growling stomachs as a response.

"I decided that you three will not go back to the academy..." he says before he gets cut off.

"We passed, dattebayo," Naruto asks but it's more of a statement.

"Really?! All I did was faint and fall over. Do you get points for that," she says to herself.

No, you don't. You would die if this was a real battle, idiot, I thought looking at my sister in disbelief.

Sasuke says nothing, but smirks.

He said three, why not four? What's he up to?, I ask myself.

"Yes, you three will be dropped from the program, permanently. You guys don't think like ninja, you think like a bunch of brats," he says, angering Sasuke.

Sasuke runs at Kakashi full of rage, but the same thing happens to Sasuke like when Naruto ran at our sensei. Kakashi pinned the Uchiha on the ground, stepping on his back.

"DON'T STEP ON SASUKE LIKE HE'S SOME BUG!!!" Sakura exclaims, more worried about the boy than anything.

"See! You think like a bunch of little brats! Why do you think we put you on teams," Kakashi exclaims, asking us.

"But I wanted to ask you that from the beginning," Sakura implies more calmly, but still full of desperation.

"Think! Are you really that clueless to not know the answer of this exercise," he says, getting a bit fed up.

"Answer," Naruto states in confusion.

"Yes, the answer! Only one of you were able to realize the purpose of this test" he says, glancing at me.

"Tsuki, why don't you tell them," Kakashi suggests.

I sigh, "Teamwork, the test was about working working together," I say.

"Correct. Sakura you were too obsessed about finding Sasuke, that you ignored Naruto who was in front of you, you also declined the offer that Tsuki gave you, giving you the chance to work together," he informs, making Sakura slump in shame.

"Naruto, you were too focused on doing everything yourself, that you ignored Tsuki, who was willing to help you" he states, making Naruto turn away.

"And Sasuke, you were the worst, doing everything yourself, thinking everyone was below you, and you also ignored Tsuki's offer even though she helped you," he said to Sasuke, making him glare at the grass.

"You guys don't understand the dangers of being a ninja. For example, Sakura kill Naruto or Sasuke dies. Tsuki kill Sakura or the others die," he says while pointing a kunai at Sasuke's neck, making each of us pale.

Kill Sakura, I can't do that. But if I don't both Naruto and Sasuke die. I don't want their blood on my hands and I also don't want to kill my sister. What to do?, I ask myself.

"See! Ninja sacrifice a lot, some more than others," he says, sadly, getting off Sasuke and walking towards the K.I.A. stone.

"You see this stone, this is a memorial of all the past heroes," he states.

"Oh, oh, oh! I decided that I want my name on that stone," Naruto exclaims, making me flinch.

"They're all K.I.A." Kakashi informs.

"Oooh~ That sounds so cool," the oblivious blonde marvels.

"Naruto, it means 'Killed In Action'." my sister explains.

"Oh," Naruto groans in sadness.

"Okay, I'll give you guys another chance, but this time it'll be much harder. So eat up, don't give Naruto any food or you'll automatically fail. I'll leave you here, I have to go do something," he informs, handing us our lunches before he leaves.

I open my bento box that's full of sushi, rice and vegetables, I look at Naruto, then back to my lunch, then back at Naruto. I sigh in defeat and walk up to the blonde.

"Here," I say as I offer him a piece of sushi.

"Tsuki, what are you doing, sensei told us not give him food," she scolds.

I look at her, "I can't eat knowing that someone is starving, it just makes me guilty. Besides he'll need the energy for the upcoming exercise," I say to her and turn back to Naruto.

"Eat."

"But why? You'll fail," he asks in confusion.

"Because you need it. Now shut up and eat," I say as I stuff the sushi in his mouth.

This continues, but with both Sasuke and Sakura giving him part of their luncheons well. Sasuke said he'll slow us down if he didn't eat and Sakura said something about being on a new diet. Yeah right, what diet? The see-food diet, where you see food and eat it, I thought with a smirk.

Suddenly a gust of wind blows and storm clouds appear along with an angered Kakashi.

"You disobeyed my orders....do you have any last words," he says, doing hand signs that make the clouds darken.

"You said..." Naruto sputtered, trying to explain.  

"Yes," Kakashi implies.

"The four of us are one," Sakura says.

"We're a team," Sasuke adds.

"Yeah! That means no one gets left behind, no matter what," I state, adding myself to the conversation.

"Is that what you really think," Kakashi asks.

"Yeah/ Yes/ Hn/ Believe it!!!" we all reply simultaneously.

"You.........pass," he says with a closed eye smile, dark clouds disappearing.

"What?!" Naruto and Sakura shout in synch.

"You. Pass," Kakashi says again.

"How," my sister asks still confused.

"Well, you didn't listen," he simply explains.

"What do you mean," Sakura asks again.

"The other teams I tested, listened to me and fell for every trap that I set up. 'Those who break the rules are scum, yes, but those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum'," Kakashi sensei explains.

Wow, that's deep, I thought referring back to what he said.

"You know. He's kind of cool," Naruto blubbers in happiness.

"Congratulations! You are now an official team. Tomorrow team 7 will start it's first mission. Now go home and rest," Kakashi says happily.

We all walk forward, celebrating that we all passed. Then suddenly I hear the shouts of our blonde teammate, turning I see that he's still tied on the post. I take out a kunai and throw it, just close enough to where it cuts the ropes without hurting him. I turn, hearing the painful thump of him face planting on the floor.

I sigh, I have such a weird team, a perverted sensei, a hyperactive blonde, an egotistical jerk full of arrogance, an obsessed fangirl, and me, a weird antisocial nerd. This could be fun.
