Chapter 2

"Flowers and a note, ooh, do tell, Donna, who sent them?" Mary asked. She was Donna's best friend and also happened to be her sister. 'Who sent them indeed it says' "From a friend," on the note, Donna answered doing air marks as she spoke. "Whoa, you have a new hot admirer. I say you better keep him, whoever he is, he has good taste." Mary remarked.

"Good taste, good taste, He sends me flowers and a note that tells me he is sorry to hear my heart being broken by my ex-boyfriend and drops some cheesy pickup line about my being worth it, He has been sent from the clouds to mend my tattered heart."  Donna rolled her eyes. The guy might try hard to get her attention, but she was not buying it. Not her.  No way, was she letting her heart get involved again. As far as love was concerned she was done with love.

The way Jefferson made her love him, then just as easily ditched her for the latest bimbo he could find as an excuse to return his old immature ways made it clear to her that her taste in men was the worst.  She had dated many men over the years. She had thought she had found the one with Jefferson. After all, he had proposed to her, but now, she knew he did not love her, He had only used her like everyone else. Well, she would show him, she would show them all.

Donna was a changed woman. She did not need anyone else. She would be fine all on her own. Yes, she was done with love. She would be better off without it so her heart would remain intact.  At least that is what she tried to convince herself.

Mary smiled as she shook her head. Her sister could be so stubborn sometimes. She was sure if the man who had the flowers delivered was that into her sister, he would stop at nothing to win her heart. She would be the one to tell her, I told you so, one day in the future when those two were together. Yep, soon enough her sister would move on and she would be left in the dust.

Don't worry, sir, she thought, You will need to work hard, but I am sure you can win my sister over in no time.  I hope so, she thought.  I hate seeing her this way.

She glanced over as Donna tore the note in two and dumped it in the trash. At least, she did not toss out the roses. She left them in the vase but had moved it from her desk to the front lobby.   His efforts had not fully been in vain at least the flowers spruced up the office front area.
