➳ They're gone ➳
This takes place in BD if the vision actually did happen. Jacob goes to tell Sue the bad news
Jacob's POV
I had phased back to my human form, tugging on my shorts as I made my way to the Clearwater house.
A pit was formed in my stomach. Guilt was washed over me and my heart was clenched. I had failed both Leah and Seth as their Alpha.
I was too caught up in trying to make sure Nessie was safe, I couldn't protect them. They died on my watch.
I brought myself to the front door. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door.
A few seconds later, the door opened. Sue's eyes met mine and her face instantly fell. "No." She whispered out. "No, no, no." Tears streamed down her face and she brought her hands clamped over her mouth.
"I-I'm sorry.." I said quietly. I felt tears run down my cheeks as well.
"M-my b-babies," she choked out. Her knees had buckled and she fell to the ground, sobbing.
"I-I'm sorry, Sue.." My voice was quiet. I placed my hand on her shoulder, rubbing it a little bit.
"They're gone!" She yelled through her tears. "You said you would protect them!" She screamed as her tears kept on falling.
"Sue, I couldn't do anything.." I said quietly. I should've been there for them. I should've helped them.
"You said you would watch over them!" She screamed. She had completely fallen to the ground in complete hysteria. "You said they would be safe! Jacob, you promised me!"
"I know," I choked out. "I'm s-sorry..I couldn't save them."
"M-my babies...they're gone." She sat up, leaning against the door as tears kept falling down her face.
I couldn't bring myself to say anything. Instead, I got up and walked out back into the forest. I phased into a wolf and whimpered. Leah and Seth. Gone.
Seth. He had so much to live for. This damn curse of shape shifting killed him. He was happy go lucky. He had a future ahead of him. He was only fourteen. He was always happy. Seeing the best in things. Even this fucking curse. He's gone. In a blink of an eye. Nobody would know that he was gone. He could've done something with his life. Hell, he could've become something from how smart he was. And now he was gone.
Leah. Nobody truly understood her. I did. We had both been heartbroken. Yet, I got my happy ending. I found my imprint. She didn't. She died. Alone. The guys may have hated her, disliked her, but she did what she did for reasons. She was heartbroken. Destroyed. Nobody understood her pain fully. Even my heartbreak didn't beat hers. She may have died alone, but she died a hero. She saved Esme. She did the very thing she never thought she would. Maybe she got what she wanted. To be dead. I had heard her thoughts sometimes. She thought she would be better off gone. I would have deep conversations with her. Little arguments that made no sense to anybody but us. I would never see her again. Her copper skin, her dark brown eyes. The way her lips were a perfect curve. She was gone. Dead.
They were both gone. Because of me. It was my fault. I should've been there for them. Instead of protecting Renesmee.
I snarled as I ran into the forest. It was my fault. I was their Alpha! They needed me. And I let them down.
I looked up at the full moon. The rain was pouring down quickly, the snow washing away. I ran to the cliffs, sitting at the very edge, looked up at the moon and howled. Howled for them.
