🌹🦋I only wished for you to love me - Caius x reader 🦋🌹

Imagine - Imagine being the mate of Caius, but through your years of staying with the Volturi, he has never shown you an ounce of love. Will he soon grow to love and accept you? Or will fate force him to?

"The Volturi don't give second chances." Caius's voice flowed around the room. His eyes burn holes into the body's of the Cullen's and their humans.

Aro was smiling like a mad man, Marcus was once again seated his mind far from reality as he didn't utter another word. You looked at your brothers from your throne, you didn't care much about today's trial. It was a waste of your time, yes, but nothing too bad. You trusted Carlisle wouldn't allow his children to go around giving their identity away without cause.

The boy found his mate, a wonderful thing, why should he be punished?

"(Y/N)?" Caius snapped you back to reality, causing you to look over at him.

He was your mate. Yet he held no love for you. You had been here within these walks for three decades now, crowned a Queen/King and given the opportunity to be seated on your own throne by Aro, who took a liking to you quite fast.

Your eyes met his, and saw that he was awaiting your response. "Yes?" You carefully say, leaning forward.

"Walk with me." Was all he said, standing and making his way out the room.

"Brother, this surely can wait. Heidi will be here shortly with our meal." Aro argued, frowning as Caius continued walking.

"Then save some for us." Was all he said. You stood, and gave Aro a smile, apologizing for leaving.

Catching up to the blonde King, you walked beside him in silence as he led you to a far part of the castle.

"You didn't back me up today like you usually do." There it was. He was going to use your silence during today's trial against you in order to ridicule you. Sighing, you looked away, and stopped walking.

"Why should I have? Your arguments weren't valid. The girl poses no threat to our kind. They'll follow through with what they told Aro, and everything will be fine." You replied softly, refusing to look at him. You were done with forcing yourself to do things to gain his love and respect.

You'd thought when you were first brought here, that being his mate would be the best thing ever. You had always longed for your mate. Being alone for so long takes a toll on you. Alas, when he met you, he was not pleased. Already being married, he pushed you aside to keep his wife.

From that day, he had made it his goal to ruin you anyway he could. By insulting your culture, race, intelligence, and even your appearance. Of course he'd go that far. Not once had you felt horrible about your body, but his words were truly the start of your self-image issues.

"You think you're so funny. You're just as weak and pathetic as those darn Cullen's. You wonder why I haven't accepted you as my mate. I can not have someone like you by my side. Athena is a far better choice." He hissed, getting all up in your face.

You wanted to stand your ground. Give him the same energy back. Possibly even give him a piece of your mind, but all you could do was look down.

It hurt to hear him speak to you with such little regard. It was as if you were a burden, a mistake.

"If it weren't for the love my brothers hold for you, I'd be able to send you away. Sadly I'm stuck with you."

You felt a breeze blow by, and when you opened your eyes, he was gone.

———-

You laughed along with Heidi as she told you of a man she'd met at a bar. It was quite sobering to be able to laugh again, since your last conversation with Caius.

You had left for a few months, with permission from Aro and Marcus. Visited a few places, and enjoyed being away from Caius.

"You're awful Heidi!" You laughed, shaking your head. Your eyes landed on a couple, who were holding hands and smiling at one another. Looking closer, you noticed the female was Athenadora and the male was a human, who you've never met before.

Frowning, you nudged Heidi. "Mm?" She questioned, looking back at what you were looking at. "Ohhhh. I'm guessing you hadn't been informed, huh?" She questioned softly, looking at you with a raised brow.

Tilting your head to the side, you shock your head no. "Informed about what? That Athena has been cheating on Caius with some human?!" You growled. Heidi flinched at the sound of your voice, and you lowered your piercing gaze. "Sorry," you mumbled.

Honestly, you should be glad Caius was being hurt, but something in you couldn't.

"She's not cheating (y/n). That's her mate." Heidi finally explains, looking at her nails.

"Mate?" You gasped, looking back at the couple, only seeing they're gone.

"Mmhmm. To make a long story short. A month after you left the man came in for a job. Aro hired him faster than he hired anyone. Of course after Marcus had something secretive to say. I guess Marcus could see the mate bond. Anyways, he was assigned to attend to the Queens. A few days later, Caius caught him inside his wife." Heidi stopped, laughing at the memory of that day. You slapped her arm, but urged her to continue. "Before he could kill him, Athena got between them, pleading for Caius to spare him because the boy was her mate. Caius was enraged! I had never seen him tear down a whole room the way he did his private study."

You stood in silence, not knowing what to say. Karma was in fact, a bitch.

"Now you know the tea, boo. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to make things right with you. Seeing as his dear wife left him within seconds the moment she found her mate." Heidi says, looking at you with a smirk.

"Please, after all the abuse I've endured from him. He's lucky I even feel the slightest bad for him. He can burn in hell for all I care. If there is a god, I thank him for doing what only he can do." You reply, putting your hands up in a praise motion.

"Hallelujah!" Heidi said, looking at her watch. "Come on. Tonight's movie night, and I have the best movie planned." She says, locking arms with you and guiding you to the theater room.

.........

You found yourself roaming the halls of the castle, they were empty, except for a few guards here and there, but most of the members were in the Ballroom. Aro thought it would be nice to have a party consisting of many different Covens. His way of keeping up with each Coven in a more decent way. Instead of sending a guard to invade their homes.

You didn't mind this special occasion, but after hours of shaking hands and smiling at all these vampires. It became tiring, and you needed to step away.

Your feet brought you to the gardens, the moonlight shining down, welcoming you in its peaceful presence. Moments like these made you wish you had someone to spend them with, but you forced yourself to love being alone and enjoying moments alone as well.

It was hard, but necessary.

Sitting down on the bench, you took a flower in your hand, and smiled at its beauty. Marcus was the main one forcing the staff to keep the garden up to date, because this was also his escape from the chaos the Volturi can bring to your life. Especially Aro.

Your moment was disturbed by a familiar scent, and the looming presence of Caius. Looking behind you, your eyes locked with his. He wore a simple black suit with a red tie, just to appear presentable tonight. His hair was pulled back, and eyes a pitch black.

"May I help you, Caius?" You coldly ask, looking back down at the flower in your hand. The sound of feet shuffling, and a breeze of wind flowing past you lets you know he moved in closer. You looked out the corner of your eyes to see him on the bench with you, looking forward.

It was silent, save for your soft humming as you tried to ignore his constant glances. Along with him rubbing his hands up and down his pants.

Finally, feeling annoyed with him just sitting there, you stood and went to walk back inside. Caius stops you though by grabbing your wrist, causing your eyes to darken and for you to let out a warning growl. "Let me go,"

"Please, just let me say what I have to say and then you can go back inside." He begs, his voice weak from not feeding lately, and eyes pleading with you as if what he had to say was do or die.

Looking him up and down, you snatch your arm back, and cross them over your chest. "Speak."

Caius carefully thought over his words before finally saying, "I'm so sorry (Y/N), for everything I have done to you." His words sound sincere enough for you to be taken back, knowing Caius never apologizes.

Nodding your head, you narrow your eyes. "That's great to know Caius, but tell me. Did you feel bad during the three decades I have been here, or after Athena left you quicker than anything for her human mate?"

He stared at you, not knowing how to respond. All he could do was open and shut his mouth like a fish.

"Huh? Or better yet, did you feel bad when you purposely put my room in the same corridor as yours and Athena's so that I could hear the two of you going at it throughout the night? Did you feel bad when you pushed me away, made me feel like a burden, and verbally abused me?? Or when you pretended to want to make things work, just so you could stand me up for our first date!!?"

The cracking of stone echoed in the air as your emotions grew out of control. Your sole focus on Caius, who seemed alarmed by the constant damage being done every passing second.

He took a step back from you, watching as your eyes grew dark, like an abyss. "(Y/N), please calm down."

Shaking your head, you turned from him to gain control once again. You couldn't reverse the damage done to the pillars, and stoned statues, but you could stop yourself from fully breaking them. Though you'd need to get some people here to fix it up, and make it all brand new again.

You ranked a hand through your hair, and pulled slightly, closing your eyes. He's only apologizing cause he has no one to lean on now, you thought to yourself. Your heart still aches for the man, making all this a thousand times harder.

"A million apologies won't change what I've done, nor how blind I was, but I hope you can grow to forgive me. Even if it takes centuries. I won't force you to give something I took advantage of, but I beg you not to leave." He was behind you, his hand grazing down your arm until he reached your hand.

You felt him place an object in the palm of your hand, and just like that, he was gone.

You slowly looked down, and saw a rose pin. The very one you gave him the first year of staying with the Volturi. It was a small gift, something you wanted to give him as a means of striking a conversation. He made you think he threw it away, but.....he's had it this whole time.

......

-One Century Later-

You watched as your older daughter jumped on her twin, knocking them down from the play set. Joseph's head hit against the ground as Kaitlyn landed on him. "Katlyn and Joseph! Cut it out!" You yelled at the two kids who were wrestling one another, not at all fazed .

Caius came out just in time for the kids to finally listen to you, and act as if they had an accident. Going their own way for a second, but watching one another closely.

"I swear, they'll ignore me, but as soon as they see you they act like angels!" You exaggerate and complain to your husband as he sits down, placing the tray of drinks down on the table.

Caius chuckled softly to himself, and handed you your cup, and he took his. Scooting the other cups out the way so the kids can get them when they are ready. The two of you drank blood, but he had gotten them each some lemonade.

"They're not that bad," He says, looking at you with a raised brow.

Frowning, you reach over and slap his arm. "How about you spend a day with them, and try to tell me how good they are after." You smiled as Caius' eyes widened.

"And do what? I can't just have them in the Throne Room with me for trials. They're human for one, and two, that's no place for children to be." He said, shaking his head as he leaned back in the chair.

"Oh no, that's not what I was referring to. We'll trade places for a day." You smirk, sipping on your drink as he tries to protest, but knows he has no valid argument. Afterall, you did sit your own throne before giving it up to start a family with Caius.

The two of you had an area built in the far back of the castle for the two of you and your adopted children. It was a beautiful section that you were thankful for. It kept the kids far from the Vampire activity going on in the castle, and allowed Caius to maintain his Kingly duties.

He grumbled to himself for a few seconds before shooting you a quick "Fine," and downing his blood. You laugh at his childish behavior and go back to watching the kids.

They were being a lot calmer around one another, thank god, and were playing a simple game of tag. You wished they had more kids to play with, but they seemed content with just each other. On special occasions, Jane and Alec would join the kids and play with them.

Your eyes trailed over to Caius, and you noticed his small smile as he watched the children as well. A book sitting unbothered on his lap, opened to a page that he had yet to start reading. Just a century ago you were loathing this man, but here the two of you were. Happily married parents.

After the whole ordeal in the garden, he issued for Athena and her mate to leave the castle and Italy entirely, threatening to have them executed if they disobeyed. Of course Athena argued, but her mate didn't want to die so he was quick to start packing.

Caius would then leave simple notes on your door everyday, along with a single rose. You found yourself wanting to talk with him after a few years, and soon you two formed a friendship. That friendship blossomed into a relationship.

I took time, the both of you had some healing to do, but you've never been happier.

Katlyn runs up to you, her eyes wide from the adrenaline running through her eyes as she reaches her hand out to you, holding something. "Mommy/Daddy, can you hold this for me? I don't want to lose it." She asks, smiling as you took the item and nodded.

"Of course honey, go have fun." You kissed her cheek, and watched as she rushed back over to the play set.

Placing the item on the table, you and Caius both share a knowing smile at the rose pin.

"I love you, (Y/N)." He says, leaning toward you.

"And I love you more, Caius Volturi." You reply, connecting your lips with his.
