The next few days, Tai finally had the courage to go back to Mindy's apartment and apologize. Tai stood standing in front of the door and raised his hand to knock but frown when he heard yelling and screams from inside. He gently knock three times but the sound went unnoticed, yet the yelling continues.

"Mindy!"

He said a bit louder. The neighbors from next door and down the hall step out of their rooms as they heard the commotion. Tai ignored them as he knocked harder and yelled for Mindy's name. He gasp as he heard a crash from inside. He looked to the next door neighbor.

"Quickly call the police!"

He shouted as he took a step back and kicked the door open. He quickly went inside and was in shock to find the place in total distruction. He was in shock as he looked towards the kitchen and saw Derek holding Mindy tightly around her neck causing her face to turn blue as her mouth was open trying to gasp for air.

"HEY LET HER GO!!!"

Tai shouted as he ran towards the couple. Derek angrily looked to Tai.

"Stay out of this!!"

He shouted. Tai ignored him as he knocked Derek down away from Mindy as she slide to the ground panting trying to catch her breathe. Tai looked down to Mindy.

"Quickly get out of here!"

He shouted. Mindy looked to Tai in tears.

"I c-can't"

She said in a stutter. Tai growled as he saw Derek began to stand up. Tai ran towards Derek but Derek did a spear taking Tai down and began to punch his face.

"Derek! Stop, leave him alone!!"

Mindy shouted. Tai tried blocking his punches and able to land a punch hard on Derek's stomach causing the air to get knock out of him. Tai quickly stood up and began to punch Derek. Mindy tried crawling her way to the phone and let out a gasp as she saw the polices come through her door.

"Please help him"

She cried before she passed out. The polices quickly separated Tai and Derek. The polices arrested Derek for a history of assaults and plus the neighbors were a witness to the scene. The ambulance were brought in to take Mindy to the hospital.

"Can I ride with her?"

Tai asked quietly. The paramedics nodded.

"You are going to need to get check too"

The paramedics said as they notice a few bruises on Tai's face and he was clutching his stomach. At the hospital, Tai called Sofie, Matt and Kari and told them what happened. Paparazzi were outside the hospital building trying to find out what happened. Tai's mother was in full concern for her son as they waited in the waiting room to hear about Mindy. Tai was already checked and he was left with a bandage around his rib cage and cuts and bruises on his face. He was sitting on the chair besides Mindy's bed. An hour pass and Mindy began to wake up.

"Ugh where am I?"

She asked as she notice Tai sitting on the chair beside her.

"At the hospital"

Mindy's eyes open wide and quickly tried to sit up but groan in pain as she went back down.

"Take it easy"

Tai said as he stood up.

"Oh no. Where's Derek?"

She asked fearfully.

"They took him to jail"

"Oh"

She said quietly. A moment of silence passed between them except for the sound of the machine. Tai scratched the back of his head and backed away from the bed.

"So um, I'm just going to let someone else come in and..."

"Wait, don't go"

She said quietly.

"Please"

Tai let out a sigh as he walked towards her and sat back on the chair. Mindy caught the pain face he had when he sat down.

"How damage are you?"

She asked. Tai laughs.

"Just a few bruises and cuts"

"I'm sorry..."

"Mindy don't, if something like that ever happens again then I will be doing the same thing all over again"

Mindy nodded.

"How damage am I?"

She asked. Tai let out a sigh.

"You have bruises and internal bruises, a broken leg and wrist"

Mindy tried to calm herself from wanting to cry as she looked to Tai.

"Why were you there in the first place? I thought you hate me"

Tai stood up and walked closer to her bed.

"No I could never hate you, sure I was mad but not hate. I wanted to apologize for the things I said to you..."

Mindy cut him off.

"No, you were right"

"But it wasn't my place to say those things to you, so I'm sorry"

Mindy stretched out her uninjured hand to him. Tai grabbed it, rubbing his thumb along her knuckles.

"In any case, thank you for being there"

"So um, I was wondering why were you reaching for the phone?"

He asked with a slight smirk. Mindy raised an eye brow.

"What?"

"While I was fighting with Derek I saw you crawled your way to the phone, we're you trying to call for help?"

"I usually don't"

"But why did you? This time you did"

Mindy began to blush brightly.

"I could careless if he put hands on me but it's another story if he out hands on someone I love"

Tai's mouth dropped in shock.

"Did you just..."

"Yes I did and in case you need me to say it again. I love you Tai Kamiya"

Tai was in shock but Mindy continued to talk.

"I have been denying for far too long, I'm sorry that I was too stupid to open my eyes..."

Once Tai came out of his shock, he was surprise to hear Mindy call herself stupid.

"Hey hey hey, don't say that. Everyone needs to go through a heartbreak to find that special someone"

Tai said with a smile as he leaned closer to Mindy. Mindy smiled as she leaned a bit closer.

"And every long lost dream, led me to where you are..."

A voice sang. Tai and Mindy turn to look and saw Sofie and Matt standing by the door grinning. Tai smirk at her.

"I would be mad right now but I'll let you slide just this once"

He said as he leaned closer to Mindy giving her a loving kiss on the lips as Sofie continue to sing.

"...and others who broke my heart, they were just northern stars pointing me in my way. Into your loving arms, this much I know is true. God bless the broken road that lead me straight to you"
