Letter XXIII

It is a risk to love. What if it doesn't work out? Ah, but what if it does? ~ Peter McWilliams

Dear Dylan,

I made my way to the cliff at exactly 6 pm, walking faster than normal. Your text sounded cryptic, and I was getting kind of worried, wondering what new trouble the fates were brewing for us. But when I arrived there, I found you sitting on a thin blanket, a picnic basket on your side.

You smiled at me and petted the empty space next to you. I felt myself swoon at the sweetness of it all as I sat down, our shoulders touching.

"I have so many things to tell you, starting with telling you that Ruby's parents took her out of the school and moved her to somewhere else. Her mum talked to mine and apologized for her daughter's behavior, and said that she'll be sending her to a therapist" you said, looking straight in front of you.

I gulped, relieved at the news, and motioned for you to continue. This time, you turned around to face me. You looked into my eyes, as if searching my soul for something I didn't know about.

"Secondly, I can't express how sorry I am Cheryl. What you did at the game was brave and amazing. In the middle of it all, I just wanted to go to you and kiss you like crazy, but the truth is that I'm a coward, and when I realized that, I couldn't bare for you to look at me. I should have done something to fight for you, for us, more."

Tears threatened to leak from my eyes, and all words escaped me as I asked hesitantly "Thirdly?"

You chuckled slightly, and gently cupped my cheeks and brought my face to yours "I love you so goddamn much, and I'm ready to give you all the space you need."

"I love you so goddamn much too!" I replied, this time, the tears trailing down my cheeks "Anything else?"

"Yes" you smirked.

I raised my eyebrow curiously, as you added "This."

Your lips set on mine without hesitation, turning into a full storm of heavy passion and overdue longing for each other. I kissed you back, all my doubts pushed to the back of my mind.

Right then, having you close was all that mattered.

Sincerely yours,

Cheryl

How are you my lovelies?
