Letter X

No means no

Dear Dylan,

It was Saturday night when the doorbell rang, and three terrible voices started singing off tune. Laughing to myself, I opened the front door, and was immediately engulfed in a hug.

"Hey girl, guess who's here?" Kayla squealed excitingly.

"Um you?" I answered going with the flow. She was almost bouncing in place; she probably had too much sugar.

"Yes, silly!" she giggled. Looking behind her to the two males filling up my doorway, I ushered them all in. The guys pecked my cheeks on their way in, and while doing so Blake whispered in my ear "It's one of her sugar rushes, but she'll be back to normal soon." Figured.

"I don't mean to rude or anything, but what are you doing here guys?" I asked while plopping myself on the couch next to Steve. Only then, did I notice the two huge bags in Kayla's hands. Oh no!

"We're going to one of your senior parties!" she exclaimed, another giggle following her statement. Just what I was dreading...

"Have fun, but don't get too drunk" I replied smoothly, hoping to get out of this. Kayla just grinned even more, if that was possible. Taking my hand, she started pulling me up the stairs to my room "You're not getting out of this missy."

Sighing, I knew there was no point in fighting her and that any struggle would only prolong the torture. From downstairs, I heard the boys wish me luck and then laugh evilly. God, what weird friends I have.

So that's how forty-five minutes later, I found myself standing in front of a big house, the loud music reverberating through my body, even from outside.

"Well then, let's get this show on road" said Blake, a devilish smirk on his face; that boy lived for the parties.

When we got inside the first thing in my sight was you. I wasn't really surprised; I find you everywhere I go. You looked devilishly handsome in a green shirt that I had bought for you, your hair swiped messily to the side. As if feeling my stare, you looked up and caught my gaze, your eyes studying me from head to toe. The expression on your face turned sour at the sight of the gang beside me. Not wanting to ruin the night, I forced myself to look away.

Kayla and Steve made a beeline to the dancefloor and started moving to the rhythm of the song, while Blake and I went to the open bar for some drinks first before joining them. For the next hour, I really enjoyed myself, sneaking glances at you every here and then. And every time, I'd find you studying my every move.

After reassuring Blake that I would be fine by my own, I watched him walk up to a girl with his bad boy charms on. Smiling softly, I made my way out to the patio for some fresh air. No one was outside as I leaned against the wall, and lifted my head up to stare at the stars.

"Hey, beautiful" I jumped a little when I saw Will, one of the jocks, standing way too close to me. "Wanna have some fun?" he asked.

Disgusted by the heavy stench of booze, I tried to make my way back inside "No thanks".

But he only caught me by my hand and tried to drag me to a darker corner.

"I said no, you prick" I screamed at him, struggling to loosen his hold on me.

It happened too fast, one moment I was yelling for help, and the other he was pushed to the side, obviously in pain. Looking up, I barely had the time to process what happened when more punches flew Will's way "No means no, has no one ever taught you that asshole?"

You were furious, and as I saw you getting ready to lunge at him again, so I took you by the hand and made you follow me inside the house and into a secluded hallway. Knowing what I was looking for, you lead us into a bathroom and locked the door behind us. I pushed your bloodied knuckles under the water, and finally mustered the courage to look at you; the expression on your face a mixture of anger and worry.

"Thank you" I muttered, and my impulses won the fight when my arms suddenly surrounded your torso. It felt so comfortable, so familiar... so safe.

You immediately hugged me back "you should have let me beat his ass."

Chuckling slightly, I broke the hug and asked in a teasing voice "two fights in one month, who are you again?"

But your face turned dead serious; you cupped my face in your warm hands and kissed my forehead tenderly "I have gone mad without you."

Breathing shakily, I opened the bathroom and left in search of my friends. I didn't tell them what happened, because in fact, thanks to you, nothing happened. For the rest of the night, I never left their side, as your sight never left me. Your hands turned into fists when Will walked back inside the house, and a smirk formed on your face at the sight of his bloodied face.

When I got home that night, I fell into a dreamless sleep; the words you said to me as my lullaby.

I have gone mad without you,

Sincerely yours,

Cheryl

What do you think guys? xx
