Was bitten by a walker when the walkers attacked the Atlanta survivor camp then was left at a tree by the group and turned alone in peace like he wanted to.

Personally I think he died the second the group left, and not from the infection thingy, a walker killed him off screen. But of course since twd LOVE to kill characters off screen it's ok...
