Dark Moon
Alex turned around and went back. "Alex!" Mobius called after them. "I found them." Alex ends up back in the TVA and catches a glimpse of Loki. "Hey!" They rush after him. "Get back here." Loki stops in his tracks. "Why did you leave them?!" Alex yelled. "You really don't know what's going on here." A new voice says behind the two.
"Variant, you don't know what you're doing." Alex says to the woman. "No. You don't understand." The three then escalate the conversation into a fist/knife fight. "I thought, perhaps, we could work together." Loki says in the confusion. The Variant kicks Alex in the stomach towards the gold doors, before doing the same to Loki, sending him the other way. "But now I see you lack vision." Loki continues. It's Wanda who lacks Vision. Alex thinks to themselves. (A/N:I am not sorry.)
The fight continued until Renslayer got the attention of the three. The Variant then put a dagger to Loki's neck while setting her leg on Alex's back, keeping the two bound. "Come any closer, and I'll kill both of them." The Variant threatens Renslayer, who responded coldly. "Go for it. He's a menace and A's blood would not be on my hands."
Alex reaches their hand into The Variant's pocket and grabs a TemPad. Typing a few random buttons, sending themselves, Loki, and The Variant outside of the TVA. The three land on their backs, The Variant on the right, Loki on the left, and Alex in the center. Alex closes the portal.
The Variant sees the TemPad and tries to take it from Alex. Alex punches her in the face. "It's mine." Loki takes the TemPad from Alex. "Not anymore, Overseer." He taunted. Alex shoots green/red energy at Loki's hand, making him toss the TemPad The Variant and Alex rush to the TemPad, only to be stopped by Loki pulling them down. "Get off my leg!" The Variant yells at Loki as he grabs the TemPad. Alex crawls on top of him and hits him in the head. They take it from his hand. The Variant bashes Alex's head against a nearby object before taking the TemPad. "Goodbye, Variants." The Variant says angered as she types on the TemPad. The three heard a familiar voice. "You're outta juice."
Loki helps Alex to their feet. "It's not working!" The Variant yells. She summons a sword and swings at Alex. Loki makes Alex vanish before doing the same to himself, making the Variant miss. Loki appears behind her and pushes her into a shelf. Loki makes Alex appear net to the TemPad. "Give it to me. You don't know how to recharge it, child." The Variant says to Alex. "Yes, but I do." Loki says to her, standing in front of Alex, shielding them from The Variant. "You're not the only tech savvy Loki." Loki pulls Alex away from The Variant as she circled the two. "Don't ever call me that." The Variant snarls at him. "Tech savvy?" Alex was confused. "No, a Loki." She responded.
The Variant lunges towards Alex. On impulse, Alex subconsciously changes the TemPad into a keychain of a green headdress. The three took a moment and noticed what happened. "You two are just a couple of magicians then?" Loki makes his daggers appear. "Fine. For my trick, I'll make you disappear." Before the two continued their fight, a rock shoots into the room. Alex hooks the keychain to a pant loop. "Is that one of your powers?" Loki asked The Variant. "Where did you send us?" The Variant asks Alex. "I don't know!"
The three walk outside. "You foolish child! You've sent us to Lementis 1!" The Variant yells at Alex . "I'm of Midgard. I don't know what that means." Alex yells. "Aren't you an Overseer!?" Loki yells back. "I'm too far off track. My knowledge is limited!" Another rock lands next to the three as they start running. "The moon that planet is about to crash into to destroy." The Variant continues as the three run. "Of all the apocalypses saved on that TemPad, this is the worse! No one makes it off here!" Alex grabs onto Loki's arm and pulls him away from a falling meteor. "Look out!"
"I'm sorry, madam. But I don't believe either of us had the time to scan the brochure." Loki said sarcastically as the three hid under a truck. "I thought you wanted us dead." Alex realized. "I can't reverse what you did to that TemPad, but if you blow up, it blows up and I end up blown up." The Variant responded. "Over there!" Alex points to new shelter. The three run towards it. "So we're a team now?" Loki asked. "A is less insufferable than you, but I wouldn't team up with them either." The Variant responded.
Alex runs ahead and opens the door. "Get in before we die." The other two head in as Alex follows and closes the door. They lean against the door. They take a few moments of breath, eyes closed. They open their eyes to see Loki and The Variant very close, her hands on his neck. Alex raises an eyebrow and smirks, but stays quiet.
Out of nowhere, The Variant pulls away. "Why? Because you're a magician?" The Variant says. "No, because my mind is too strong." Loki responded. Alex looses their smirk, eyebrow still arched. The conversation continued until the two drew out their weapons. "Are you guys really about to do this here?" Alex says, exhausted. "What do you propose instead?" The Variant responded. Alex shrugs. "Neither of us are getting away from here if we can't get the TemPad going." Alex raises her arms to keep the two at a distance. "What did you do to it?" The Variant asked, raising her sword to Alex.
"I honestly don't know." Alex responded, scared. "Then I'll kill you and take it off your carcass." Alex rushes back, Loki shielding them from The Variant. "We're not going to get far with you trying to kill them every 30 seconds!" Loki yelled. "You guys need me to get that recharged. That's the only reason you to saved me out there." "We could just slaughter her right here and move on by ourselves." Loki whispers to Alex.
"The plan you two interrupted was years in the making." The Variant gets the two's attention. "As soon as I turn the TemPad back on, I'm going directly back to the TVA to finish what I started. I'll kill you two then." "Or I'll kill you." Loki interrupted.
The Variant turns to leave the shelter. "Where are you going?" Alex asks her. The Variant turns back to them. "There's power somewhere on this moon. We just need enough to travel through inter-dimensional time and space." The Variant leaves as Alex and Loki follow her.
After a while of walking, Loki spoke up. "What's the plan?" The Variant responded, annoyed. "There's a town near here. And could you shut up? Just because I have to work with you, doesn't mean I want to hear either of you." Alex's voice breaks the tension. "Can you slow down, Variant?" "Don't call me 'Variant'."
"I'm sorry," Loki responded. "But I'm not calling a faded photocopy of me 'Loki'." The three are now walking side-by-side. "Good." The Variant responds to him. "That's not who I am anymore. I'm Sylvie now." "You got a nice alias." Alex compliments. "But what exactly makes a Loki?" Alex continues. "Independence, authority, and style." Loki responded. "Then why would you work for the TVA? I understand why I am, but you?" Alex questions. "I don't work for them." Loki responds to Alex. "You don't know what you want." Sylvie speaks up. "Says the woman with the plan to destroy the TVA." Alex retorts. "Let's just get on with this." Sylvie shuts down Alex.
They soon arrive at a worn down village. "Everyone's gone." Alex says to themselves. "How long do we have here?" "Twelve hours or so. It'll only get worse." Sylvie responds. The three continue walking. "Would that charge the TemPad?" Loki asks Sylvie, pointing to a neon light. "It might." She walks up the ramp, the other two staying on ground level. "I need to make sure it can connect."
Sylvie turns around, extending her hand to Alex. "Hand it over." Alex takes a hold of the keychain before Loki stops them. He chuckles. "You're gonna have to try harder. They aren't giving it to you." He says to Sylvie. Sylvie walks down the ramp. "The TemPad requires a massive power source, not a night light." She walks off, the other two follow her out of the village.
The three walk until they see a house. As they make it up the porch, Loki grabs onto Sylvie's arm. "Brute force is no substitute to diplomacy and guile." Loki told her. He nods her head in understanding before walking to the door.
"Are we sure it's not boobytraped?" Alex whispers to Loki. He shrugs. Sylvia kicks down the door before the wind sends her back. Alex starts laughing. "I knew it!" Loki chuckles in response before turning to Sylvie. "It's remarkable you've made it as far as you did."
He leans towards the door as Alex kneels on the floor, still laughing. "Sorry about that." He says to the person inside, only to be met with the voice of an elderly woman saying "Don't be. I enjoyed it."
Loki and the woman talked as Alex tried to calm themselves. Loki gets sent back the same way Sylvie was. Alex laughs more before getting up. "I'm sorry." They turn to Loki and Sylvie. "That is just too funny. I need a turn."
They walk in front of the house, just to be blown back. "Thank you!" Alex started laughing more.
"Which one was that? Diplomacy or-" Sylvie started before Loki interrupted. "Don't. Just don't." Alex sits up as the woman walks out of the door. "What do you devils want with me?"
"We just want to know where everyone is." Alex says as Loki helped them up. "The ark." The woman responded. "The evacuation vessel." Alex stepped closer. "Where would one find it?" "The station is at the edge of town, but you'll never get a ticket." "Thank you, ma'am." Alex responded. The three head off.
After more traveling, the three reach The Ark. "we can't fight our way onto that train." Loki says to Sylvie. Alex blocks out the conversation until Loki changes to a guard uniform and holds onto theirs and Sylvie's shoulders. He guides the two pas the line and onto the platform.
The three are stopped by a guard. "Tickets?" "Orders from the top are to get these two on the train." Loki responded. Alex blocks out the rest of the conversation until the three sat down at a table. Alex shakes their head. "So sorry. I did it again." Alex rubs their temple.
"I was about to ask you why you looked so numb." Loki responded. "It's a disability I have. A little something I kept with me since my life on Midgard. I just "stare off into space"as we call it." Alex tells him.
Sylvie starts yawning, but then covers her mouth. The two start talking, Alex didn't really pay attention until Loki brought up his mother. "What was she like?" Sylvie asks him. He tried responding. "The kind of person you'd want to believe in you. A queen of Asgard."
Alex listens more as Loki explains how Frigga taught him magic. He showed the two fireworks from his hand. Alex listens silently until a lady walks by. "Champagne?" Loki and Alex took one each while Sylvie denied.
"Love is hate." Sylvie says. "Maybe that's just the way you see it." Alex responded. The two turn to them. "You've loved?" Loki asked. "I still do." Alex responded, taking a sip from the champagne. "My boyfriend of 5 years. I don't know if I'll ever see him after all of this." Loki rests a hand on Alex's back as Sylvie watches. Alex turns to her. "You called me child, but I'm far from that. I was blessed with the most beautiful daughter I've ever seen before I was sent to the TVA."
"I apologize." Sylvie says. "Apology accepted." The three continue their talk. "Love is mischief, then." Sylvie says before Loki took another drink. Sylvie takes a rest.
After a bit, Sylvie wakes up to see Alex rubbing their temples. "He's been at it for the longest." Sylvie turns to see Loki singing with everyone in the train. "To Sylvie and A, everybody!" Loki roared as everyone else cheered. Sylvie gets up, followed by Alex. "Guys, someone's coming."
(A/N: insert the love is a dagger metaphor here)
"Stay behind me." Sylvie tells Alex. Alex stands behind Sylvie. "Sir, can I see your tickets?" The guard asks Loki. Loki stumbles over his words. "Um, tickets. Yes, of course. Here they are." He raises a hand and fire works start going. Alex chuckles in disappointment. The guards pull Loki away from the two. "Look, is this really necessary? There's a simple explanation." Loki frantically says. A fight breaks out between Loki, Sylvie, Alex, and the guards.
Loki sends a guard flying out the window before Alex gets tossed out. "Good riddance." Sylvie says in celebration. "She has the TemPad, Sylvie!" The two jump out of the train. Sylvie and Loki get up from the ground and walk over to Alex. She kneels up and looks to them. "TemPad, now child." Sylvie extends her hand to Alex. Alex takes the keychain off of their pant loop. The charm was broken off. "They did take quite the tumble." Loki defends Alex. "You've killed us, stupid child." Sylvie says to Alex.
"Neither of you are serious about this. You broke our only chance out of here." Sylvie turns to Loki. "And you got drunk on the train." "I'm hedonistic. That's what I do." "I'm hedonistic. A lot more than you. But not at the expense of the mission." As the two fight, Alex screams, green and red energy bursting out and hitting them in the heads. Alex walks off before sitting on the ground. They shove their head in their hands. The two walk over and sit on each side of her. "I'm sorry. You guys just hit a forgotten nerve." Alex says as they sat down. "Did the scream help?" Loki ask. "It didn't." Sylvie speaks up. "Whenever I need to let pressure out, I do the same thing."
"Me and Oscar used to fight all the time before Antiphon found us." Alex told them. "It just got worse as we stated taking missions. He'd let loose while I never slept. We needed to keep the timeline in check. I'd always yelled at him because it never worked out. He couldn't stop the fighting, so he gave me my powers. I was only green back then. It calmed me down and Oscar took missions seriously. We sometimes revert to our own ways, but we get through it quicker." Alex wipes tears away. "What's our play?" Alex changes the subject.
"I don't know. You broke the TemPad." Sylvie says. "That planet is about to crash into us." "And the entire moon is destroyed with everyone on it, even us." Alex continues. Loki starts thinking. "What about The Ark?" "The Ark never leaves because it's destroyed." Alex responds. "Well, it never had the three of us on it." Loki says, smug look on his face. "We hijack The Ark so it leaves the moon?" Alex asks? "Sounds like a good idea to me." Loki responds. "Ok." Loki responds. The three get up and start walking.
"I feel like me and A told you and each other so much about ourselves. We really don't know the first thing about you." Loki brings up. "It's a tactical advantage." Sylvie smirks. Alex chuckles. "And you'll use that tactical advantage to kill us?" The conversation continued.
"And you called us magicians." Alex chuckles. "The young soldier from the TVA, her mind was messed up." Sylvie responds. "Everything clouded. I have to pull out a memory hundreds of years prior, before she even fought for them." Alex stopped walking. "What are you saying? Before she joined them?" "Yes. She was a regular person on Earth. Loved margaritas." Sylvie responds. "I was told that everyone who works for the TVA were created by the Time-Keepers." Loki says." "That's ridiculous. They were all Variants, just like us." Sylvie responds. "They don't know that. Antiphon told me about the TVA, but never this." Alex says.
An announcement came on from the city nearby. "All ticketed passengers, there are ten minutes until launch." Alex placed their hands on Loki and Sylvie's shoulders. "That's our ride." Within seconds, the three stood outside the gates as green and red energy dissipates. "Do we trust each other?" Sylvie asks the two. "I will." Alex responds. "We do and you can." Loki says to Sylvie. "Good. Because this is gonna suck." Sylvie tells the two.
They make their way through the crowd until Alex spots an alleyway. They grab onto Sylvie and Loki's hands. "This way." The two follow them. As they make their way through the alleyway, the planet above continues crumbling above them. Alex opens up a force field as an explosion fires off, but it already shot the group back, bringing down Alex's force field. Loki pulls Alex and Sylvie up to their feet. "Are you two ok?" He asks them as they reassure him. They continue their way through the alleyway. A few thugs start fighting them before Alex shoots energy at them. "We gotta hurry."
Collateral damages block almost every way out, and the only way through was pass falling debris. Alex held the buildings up as they all run through. "We can still make it, guys!" Loki yells as they keep running and fighting their way through. "Sylvie, A, come on!" It would have all been in vain. A piece of the planet destroys The Ark, leaving Alex, Loki, and Sylvie stranded on a moon destined to become an apocalyptic wasteland.
Sylvie walks away as Loki turns to Alex. "I actually thought this was gonna work." They tell him. "I thought that I was gonna return home to my boyfriend, my sisters, and my daughter. I guess I shouldn't keep my hopes up around villains." Alex starts walking the same direction Sylvie did. Loki turns to them. "A-" "No. My name is Alex." Alex tells him. "You might as well know the name of the mother you couldn't get off this moon." Alex turns back around and tries catching up with Sylvie...
