Oh, racing?

I gazed at the mentioned address in my one hand that I jotted down when Ishaan told me while the other hand held Shiru; my grumpy yet cute cat to myself. He showed his tantrums by a series of grumbling meows. He didn't like being rudely woken up from his slumber. Well, that makes the two of us, buddy.

Either Ishaan was seriously up to some prank or the sources from which he got the told 'address' was having indirect joke because according to the address it was some old bridge, forget about racing not even any living being existence was spotted.

I glanced at the bridge then at the address then bridge and then-

Shiru jumped out of my arms, sneering meowing from down, as if saying you're crazy!

"Oh please," I rolled my eyes at him, tired myself. I literally just sneak out of the house, risking my life on the line. Just to meet I mean spy on Lux and this is what I found!

This is what I get?

Shiru leaped at me I swatted him by my hands.
"I get it get it you're angry but so am I"

I drew the hood over my head. Sue me for dressing up also in spy costume. All black with a mask just my white grumpy cat besides me brought it down otherwise I looked a legit spy.

Shiru being Shiru again came at me. The cat was really taking my kind nature for granted.

"Stop it Shiru can't you see I am already hurt and now you won't leave me alone without giving your claw marks too!" I said taking my mask out, irritated now.

Shiru stepped back giving me - you're pulling a victim card look

He moved and jumped standing over the bridge staring at the river wishfully.

I threw my hands up, "now you don't need to be dramatic!"

Shiru didn't say anything or I mean didn't show any cat-related behaviors.

Was he going to jump into the river?

"Oh come on I know life gets hard, people get annoying but that's not the step you should take" I walked and stood beside him slowly,"that no one should take. The fight isn't over, the fight will never be over. It's just you get stronger. Right now you might think it's hard, there's no way out of it but believe me when I say that something, something that is way too better is waiting for you at the other side of it. Are you not excited to find what is it? Won't you want to reach it and see for yourself? Would you really want to go through this all over, again? Do you really want to give up? And if you need to think on it like for even a second, just step back because my friend Shiru the fight isn't over" I said with bittersweet smile.

"Quite some motivational speech for a cat"

Shiru and I jumped startled, turning back.

In the street lampost's dim lighting, I could make out a figure even if I couldn't able to, it was clear from the voice which now I doubt I could ever forget.

Lux leaned against the other side of the bridge, his hands in the sweatpants pockets. He too had a hoodie on and pulled off well this overall idle laid back look, like a dark prince charming way.

My cheeks blushed realizing he heard my heart to heart talk with Shiru. Now, nothing could prove against that HE WAS SPYING ON ME

"Didn't your mother tell you ever that it is rude to eavesdrop?"I asked walking towards him.

Shiru jumped off following me with curiosity that you know killed the cat once.

Lux folded his arms casually, as if it was all fine roaming around almost at the midnight hour of the night.
Hey I have a reason but how would he explain?

"My mother made an exception for cats" He said.

I bit my lip, smiling wait my eyes widened.

"Oh wait you do have a sense of humor!" I exclaimed.

He shrugged, I might be wrong but he appeared flustered.

I stood beside him copying his posture leaning against the bridge but facing the opposite side, staring down at the waters.

Shiru find it all boring he roamed around ignoring us.

"So this is your Legendary cat Shiru?" Lux asked.

I turned back looking at him.

"You know him, how?" I asked back.Now it was kinda getting scary. The other way spying thing.

"I heard you and the other girl-

"Riya"

"Talking about it" he completed smoothly.

"So hearing on people's conversation is your old habit" I said suspiciously.

He angled his head gazing down at me, his hazel brown eyes gleamed under the moonlight.
"I told you only when it involves cats" he said.

"When- will -the rac-e start?"I asked awkwardly changing the subject. Because my heart beats were racing and I didn't know what was the fuss about. I mean I get it he's good looking so is Ishaan and so is 62% of the male population (the estimation is totally from my personal observation🧐 )
But they never string me out with this reaction. Aside from Ryan but it was opposite I feel elated not frightened.

Distraction I need distraction

"Race?" He frowned.

Oh shit

I had to spy on him from back not to go directly ask him.

"Yeah race I heard people race here" I lied or half lied.

He just regarded me blankly and I noticed later on like always. It was a narrow bridge and it had steps on both the ends then there were houses on the lane. I mean I get the point not the race kinda setup.

"Actually I heard you participate in races"

Lux twisted, like looking at me in a proper full giving his attention manner. He even slid the hood down. Next what?? Pull out the knife and stabbed me and throw me in the river. Where's Shiru??
I frantically looked around for my bitchy cat. Nowhere to be near!!. Like expected.

"And how will I race?" He asked amusement underlying his tone.

"Like people do, car race?" I offered hopefully.

"I don't have a car" he told pretty honestly.

"What about bike?"

"Neither"

"Cycle?"

We both stared at each other. I nodded getting, Ishaan won't be sending for some illegal cycle race. If there was any?

I sighed sagging leaning against the bridge again. False alarm .It was for nothing then. That sources person should be fired, burned and thrown ti mars.

"What were you doing here?" He asked after moments. Was he suspicious but he sounded rather genuine.

"What were you doing here?" I asked back with unshielded suspicion.

Give me something on you! I am spy for god's sake

We looked at each other guessing which one would break first.

"My house is near" Lux answered.

"Mine too"I lied. It was nowhere near, instead I had to take metro at this late night, had only my cat for protection on whom I never relied more than a soft toy. On second thought soft toy would be better at least it won't run away, whether needed or not.

If Lux didn't believe me, he didn't say anything.

He observed me for some time. I fidgeted looking away.

"What's this?" His hand reached to my cheek. By reflex reaction I flinched on my own accord.
His hand halted on the midway then dropped it with an unreadable expression crossing over his face.

I remembered the nail mark. It wasn't that big but due to my pale skin it was quite highlighted. But anyway in this almost darkness how he did spot it?. I pulled the hood over my head, speaking, "oh well I should leave before it gets too late"

"Where do you live?"

"Me? I live just near that house you know yellow house and then green I live in between them it's red-

"Actually?" he asked cutting me off.

What's that? spy on ultra level?

I narrowed my eyes at him.

He folded his arms,"you don't expect me to allow you to travel alone back home?"

"That's cute. But don't worry I'll manage" I snapped brushing past him. I already have two people breathing down my neck I don't want another one too.

"Rumors say a ghost of a policeman patrols on that road"

I froze before turning to the supposed said road.

"Shiru!" I called ignoring his jabbing.

"I guess she's calling for you"

I swirled around. Shiru was sticking to Lux's side.

"Come here" I ordered my damn cat but knew better.

He sneered nuzzling to Lux's leg. Lux shrugged in adorable I can't help it manner.
"Guess you have no choice now" he said.

I cursed, "aren't you a bit chatty at nights!" I glared at him.

"You have mood swings at nights?" He asked back.

Uggghh

"Come on the two of you!. Don't waste my time"

"Don't run like I said a ghost of-

"Stop lying will you.." I said nervously sticking to his other side. I mean I wasn't scared of ghosts during daylight but night completely changed my opinion.
