Chapter Eleven
I just realized the closer I get to finishing a Marvel movie, the shorter my chapters get . . .
Huh.
Oh, well. Basically a filler. I stopped in a nasty spot. Meh. I'll try for better next time.
Enjoy!

"I really don't mean to be a spoilsport, but what are the legit chances of us getting out of here alive?"
"Seriously? That's what you're going to concentrate on?"
"Well, excuse me for being worried when I'm about to go into battle for the first time!"
"Please don't tell me we're actually having this conversation right now, Icicle?"
"Will you two stop talking?!" Steve interrupted the two girls.
Pause. "Sorry."
Clint snickered as he looked at Saleen. "You're sure you and Jessie aren't sisters?"
"Pretty sure," she nodded. "For one, I sure as hell haven't done anything to deserve having an Asgardian guard dog."
Natasha snorted. "Well, can't argue with you there."
"And I also wasn't - "
"Don't go there," Jessie cut in.
"Sorry, Vertigo."
"Do you two always talk this much?" Tony grumbled.
"Only when we're nervous."
"Saleen."
"Yes?"
"That's your cue to stop talking."
" . . . sorry."
A sudden rumbling under their feet made all three agents stop and look around. "Guessing that's not an earthquake," Clint muttered.
"It's the portal," Thor said over the comms. "It's opening."
"Where?" Bruce asked.
"Well, Loki likes his entrances," Tony said. "He tried the Tower last time. That didn't go so well for him."
"Think he's going to go bigger?" Coulson's voice suddenly cut in.
"How much bigger can he go than Avengers Tower?" Skye wondered.
Saleen paused. "Hey guys . . . anyone ever read the Percy Jackson series?"
Another large pause. "You don't think," Jessie began.
"Try the Empire State Building," Saleen looked up.
"On our - " Tony cut off. "HOLY SHIT!"
Everyone spun around and looked up to see the portal to space open in the sky above the Empire State Building, and Leviathans started pouring out immediately. "Oh, here we go," Saleen clenched her fists.
"Girls, do what you have to do to survive," Steve ordered. "Bring those things down!"
The Hulk's roar echoed across Manhattan as the two assassins and Saleen ran down the streets, seeing Thor's lightning streak across the sky as Chitauri poured from the portal, Frost Giants slamming down into the ground as they appeared. "Round two, here we go," Natasha rolled out the kinks in her neck before launching forward.
"And don't die!" Jemma called helpfully.

"So Malekith has the Aether, and now we have no idea where he's gone to now," Loki frowned as they entered a cave in Svartalfheim.
"I do," Jessie said, making them look at her. "He's gonna unleash it. Not just on Asgard. He's going to destroy everything."
"How?" Thor frowned. "Jessie, how?"
"I saw him on Earth," she answered. "That's how I found the Aether in the first place."
Loki groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Of course. The Convergence."
Jessie put her face in her hands. "None of this would have happened if I hadn't found the Aether."
"Then Malekith would have only possessed it that much sooner," Thor argued.
"How did you find it in the first place?" Loki frowned.
"Jane was looking for Thor," Jessie explained.
"So it's her fault?" Loki paused when both glared at him. "Bad timing?"
"Well, now we're trapped here," Jessie sighed.
Jessie's phone suddenly started blaring out a rock song, and all three stared at each other. "Well, that's not either of us," Loki said bluntly.
Jessie fumbled in the folds of her dress, then pulled out her phone, stared at the Caller ID, then answered. "Grant?"
"Jessie, thank God!" he shouted, making Jessie's jaw drop. "Where the hell are you?"
"No, no, no, where the hell are you?" Jessie looked around the cave, eyes wide.
"Right where we've always been!"
"No, seriously, where the hell are you, because I am as confused as hell right now."
"Jessie, this isn't any time for games."
"No, it isn't," Jessie agreed, putting her phone on speaker and walking around, holding her phone up. "I'm still trying to figure out how I've got service."
" . . . Jessie."
"Yeah?"
"Where are you?"
"Er . . . " Jessie looked around, then hissed and made a beckoning motion, the two gods quickly hustling after her. "It's a bit hard to explain."
"Well, you'll have to, because I've currently got five other SHIELD agents staring at me and waiting for me to explain."
Jessie shook her head as she walked forward. "Grant, it's very hard to explain, and believe me, I'm - " She heard a crunch under her foot, and she looked down, and her eyes widened when she saw what she had stepped on. "Oh, my God."
"Did I interrupt something?"
"No, no, no, nothing at all," Jessie shook her head, bending down and picking up the keys before walking forward.
"Jessie, you're starting to break up."
"Where are we going?" Thor asked as he caught up.
"And why are there so many shoes?" Loki looked around, noticing different shoes throughout the cave.
"Hang on, did I just hear - ?!"
The call shorted out, and the three pitched forward, suddenly outside of the factory. "Yes!" Jessie whooped, running forward and to the scientists' abandoned car. "Come on!"
Thor climbed in by Jessie, and Loki sat in back. "You're not going to attempt to beat Thor on destruction for this trip, are you?" Loki smirked.
"Shut up," Jessie sighed as she drove the car, loading up the address for Jane's apartment Coulson had given her.

Jane cautiously opened the door when someone knocked, and her jaw dropped when she saw who was standing there. "You would not believe what I've just gone through," Jessie smiled tiredly.
"Oh, my God!" Jane yelped, tugging her in. "Darcy! She's back!"
"Is she really?" Darcy poked her head out. "Hey, she is!"
"Thank goodness you both are here," Jane smiled as Thor came in next, considering the coat rack before hanging his hammer up on it. "The world is - "
"Going crazy?" Loki asked as he stepped in last.
Jane froze, eyes wide, and Darcy yelped. "Ian! Where's my taser?!"
"No, no, no, no tasering Loki!" Jessie held up her hands. "Look, he's not here to kill anyone, and he's being decent right now. No killing from him, no tasering from anyone here."
"Did he do something to you?" Jane asked warily, frowning at Loki.
"No, something was actually done to him."
"Seriously?"
"Oh, my God," Jessie sighed, making her way into the apartment.
Darcy followed after her. "Hey, nice clothes! Did you go to a party?"
Loki took a step forward. "Dr. Foster - "
She slapped him hard, then jabbed him in the chest with a finger. "That was for New York!"
Loki blinked, then grinned at Thor. "I like her."
"Dr. Selvig?" Jessie blinked, seeing Erik inside.
"You must be Jessie Nightshade!" Erik beamed, standing up. "How wonderful!" Jessie blinked as he hugged her. "How wonderful! You've been to Asgard!"
"Um . . . Dr. Selvig?" Jessie pulled back. "Why aren't you wearing pants?"
"Oh, uh . . . " Ian cleared his throat. "He, uh . . . he says it helps him think."
"Huh," Jessie blinked. "Well, listen, all of you were doing work on gravimetric anomalies, right? I need to see it."
"OK," Erik nodded.
"Are you well, Erik?" Thor asked, stepping further into the room.
Erik began to nod, then froze when he saw Loki. "Your brother - "
"Ah," Loki winced, then pointed out the door. "Should I - ?"
"Just hang back," Jessie shook her head. "They might not trust you, but I do."
Loki smiled, bowing his head. "Thank you."
"Thank me after we save the world," Jessie nodded, then found her bag by the couch. "Awesome," she said, picking it up. "I'll be back in a moment."
"So, to begin," Loki said, watching her walk off. "What we know for sure is that Malekith is going to fire the Aether at a spot where all the nine worlds are connected."
"Amplifying the weapon's impact," Erik nodded. "With each additional world, the power will increase exponentially. The effect would be universal."
"Yes, well, the alignment is only temporary," Thor said. "He must be in exactly the right place at the right time."
"Well, how do we know where that is?" Darcy asked.
"We follow the directions," Erik answered. "This has happened before, thousands of years ago, and the Ancients were there to see it." He put a map of the British Isles on the table, pointing locations out. "All the great constructions: the Mayas, the Chinese, the Egyptians, they made use of the gravitational effects of the Convergence, and they left us a map." He started drawing on the map. "Stonehenge, Snowdon, the Great Orme. These are all coordinates taking us . . . here."
Ian frowned. "Greenwich?"
Jane swallowed as she double checked readings. "The walls between worlds will be almost non-existent. Physics is gonna go ballistic. Increase and decrease in gravity, spatial extrusions. The very fabric of reality is gonna be torn apart."
There was a warping noise, then Thor summoned his hammer into his hand. "Let's try and avoid that happening," Loki smirked as he took the dagger offered by Thor.
Erik swallowed. "I better get my pants."
"Yeah, that's a good idea," Jessie said as she emerged from the bathroom, now wearing her suit, her hair back in two French braids. "So, how about it, boys?" she smirked. "Let's go save the world."
