Hudson is a math teacher at Lester B. Pearson Middle School.

Hudson: Y equals x plus 2 squared times x minus 5 squared. [finishes writing on the board] Can anyone tell me what the x-intercepts are?

Hudson surveyed the classroom. Most of the students had their heads down, bored of Hudson's lecture of quadratics. He then set his eyes on Priya, the girl who kept reading books in classes.

Hudson: [snaps fingers] Priya. You're up.

Priya fumbled on her book, closing it before answering.

Priya: It's positive 2 and negative five.

Hudson: Close. You'll have to solve for x, meaning... [writes on board] x equals negative two and positive five. If you were paying attention instead of reading your book, then you would've gotten the correct answer.

Several of the kids snickered as Priya went back to reading her book. The bell then rang, indicating that school was over.

Hudson: Alright, homework is from pages 6 to 7! Please get it done by tomorrow as I will be doing a homework check.

Hudson then noticed Priya about to leave the classroom.

Hudson: Priya! I'd like to have a word with you.

Priya went up to Hudson with a confused face.

Priya: Mr. Hudson, am I in trouble?

Hudson: Trouble? No. [sees the Nightfall book] Mind if I take a look at it?

Priya: Uh, sure.

Priya handed the book to Hudson. He flipped through several pages, nodding as he briefly read some chapters. He closed the book and signaled Priya to follow him.

Hudson: Follow me.

Hudson took Priya to the library, where he started to ask the librarian.

Hudson: Are the books I ordered here?

Librarian: Yes Mr. Hudson, they've just arrived today.

The librarian went into the book storage room and took out two new books out of the boxes. She handed them to Hudson, who then handed them to Priya. She was surprised that the two books were previous installments of the Nightfall series.

Hudson: I'd figure you were a fan of the Nightfall series. Want to know a secret?

Priya nodded.

Hudson: I'm also a fan of Nightfall. [smiles] Got these two from an auction. The seller said that they were the first batch of books that were sold when they first came out. I haven't gotten a chance to read these but, here you go.

Priya: I... I don't know what to say, Mr. Hudson. T-Thank you!

Hudson: Just don't get distracted by those in class, okay Priya?

Priya nodded and smiled.

Hudson: Have a nice day.

Priya: You too, Mr. Hudson!

Priya went out of the library with the books and had a gleeful smile on her face.
