Zayn's POV:
"That was the most amazing yet terrifying thing ever!" Paige yells in excitement, as soon as she jumps off the bike. Little crinkles form at the corner of her eyes and they shine as she continues to grin happily. The butterflies, which were in the pit of my stomach for the whole ride, continue as I watch her beam, after her first experience on a heavy bike.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it," I say, as I hop off the bike and stand in front of her. "I forgot to ask, from where did you get my address?" I ask her, my eyebrows knitting together slightly, at the thought which crosses my mind.
"Oh, Malory told me," Paige answers, casually shrugging her shoulders as her eyes dart to something behind me.
A chuckle escapes from my lips at the mention of Malory, a smile soon forming on my lips, but my attention quickly diverts towards Paige, who is continuously looking behind me with excited and curious eyes, before she jumps at the chance to ask me something, "Are you taking me to that club, behind?" At the moment her eyes looked like the heart-eyed emoji, as she stares at me eagerly.
I quickly turn behind and look at the club, which, of course, is not for our age. My eyes travel to the Arcade Games shop that is right next to the club. I brought Paige to the arcade games shop... What is she thinking?
I instantly turn around to correct the misunderstanding, but she rapidly speaks up. "Wow, we're underage and you're sneaking me into a club. You really are a bad boy." She grins from ear to ear, as she speaks, looking at me with her dreamy eyes. The expressions she makes when she is excited and eager about something is always adorable and that is the reason I end up doing the things, which I have no idea about.
How is she going to react, when I tell her that I brought her to a game place and not the club? She is never going to go on a date with me ever again!
Zayn, you are supposed to be a bad boy! What were you thinking when you decided to take her to a game store next to a club, and expect her not to think otherwise?
"We're trying new things, I like that, Mr bad boy," Paige says, a slight smirk playing on her lips as she runs a hand in her hair and I gulp, trying to ignore the lump in my throat. She watches me intently, waiting for me to escort her to the club, but I nervously laugh, with troubled feelings in my gut.
I need Malory! What the hell am I supposed to do now?
"Could you give me a sec, I need to inform my mom about something..." I ask Paige and she purses her lips together, before telling me to go ahead, with a smile. I smile back and quickly turn my back on her, walking a great distance away from her, as I dial Malory's number.
"I need your help!" I whisper aggressively, as soon as she picks up the call.
"When...do...you...not?" I hear her voice between loud pants, as she struggles to speak, making my eyes squint in confusion.
"What were you doing that left you so breathless?" I ask, a hint of tease in my voice.
"Ew!" She yells and I can imagine her gagging right now, which makes me give out a small chuckle. "I am at my boxing club," she states and I shake my head even though I know she can't see my face.
"That explains why you punch like Mohammad Ali or even Connor McGregor," I say, laughing to myself and hear her lightly giggle down the other end of the line.
Malory laughing is a very unique thing. I have to admit, I never saw her laughing before. Neither do I see her laughing with anyone in the school, but there are very rare moments when I see her laughing softly with Harry or sometimes Paige. Lately, I have been noticing her laugh almost every day, but only when she is around me. The smile that comes on her lips or the laughter I hear when she is around me feels way more genuine than the times she is doing that with others. I wonder why that happens only around me?
"You still there?" I hear Malory's voice, that cuts off my thoughts and brings me back to reality, making my eyes widen as I quickly turn back to look at Paige.
Shit, I forgot about her.
Paige stands there leaning on my bike as she waits for me patiently, a slight smile forming on her lips as her eyes catch mine. I mouth her a 'sorry' and ask for two minutes, gesturing to my phone against my ear. Paige nods her head, still with a smile plastered on her gorgeous face, and I let out a sigh.
God, she is so beautiful.
"Hello?" Malory calls out for me and I turn my back again on Paige, as I talk to Malory.
"I brought her to the Arcade Games Shop next to the Braxton club, and she thinks I brought her to the club and is now waiting for me to take her inside!" I blurt out quickly, hearing a loud sound of water spitting, from the other line.
"Malory, what the hell!" I hear a loud angry male voice from behind, in the call.
"I'm so sorry, Theodore!" I hear Malory's apologetic voice and I can quickly imagine her wide eyes and troubled expression right now.
"Was he bald?" I ask her after the shuffling on the other end of the line quietens down.
"Yes, and it's your fault!" she grumbles, making me laugh, so I quickly place a hand on my mouth to stop myself from making a sound. I hope Paige is not watching me too closely, otherwise, she would be curious as to why I am laughing so much on a call with my mother.
"What do I do about the situation I am in right now?" I whine and hear her groan on the other end.
"Braxton club is owned by my neighbour, I'll just ask him to let you guys in," Malory speaks and a loud sigh comes out of my mouth in relief, before a squeal tries to escape my lips in excitement, however, I easily manage to control it.
"Thank you so much!" I whisper-yell and end the call with a relieved smile playing on my lips, as I quickly turn around and walk back over to where Paige is patiently leaning against my bike. I made her wait so much, I am surprised she did not leave.
"Shall we go now?" Paige asks, removing her hair from her eyes, as she eagerly looks at me for a response. I nod my head and her eyes light up, her excitement visible, as she beams happily.
I have no idea what I am doing, but I hope it does not make me embarrassed at the end of the day.
"So how are we going to sneak inside?" She whispers as we walk over to the entrance of the club. She points to the side door of the club, asking me as she gestures if we are going to enter from there.
"We are not going to sneak inside," I say with a smirk forming on my lips and her eyes squint in confusion, as she looks at me.
"I come here almost daily, I have a reputation inside."
Malory's POV:
"Harry, why are you fighting like a girl?!" I hear Theodore, our boxing coach yell at my brother who is boxing with him in the court. I chuckle as I wear my jacket and grab my bag to walk outside.
"Malory, don't go alone, I'm coming!" Harry runs over to me, gasping for breath as he bends down with his hands on his knees, standing in front of me. "I hate our coach," he says, panting like a dog.
"Yeah, I heard that! And You're not going anywhere!" Theodore yells from the back, making me laugh as I watch Harry groan as he stands up and throws his hands in the air.
"I can't leave my sister alone, Theo!" Harry yells back, waving his hands towards me. I squint my eyes, as I look closely at him.
"I can go home alone like I do every day. Shut up and complete your practice," I wave my hand in Harry's face as I turn around to leave, but he grabs my hand, stopping me in my tracks.
"Don't go alone," He says, still out of breath. He looks at me with an expression I can't quite read. I don't know if he seriously does not want me to go alone or if he is doing that so Theodore lets him go as well.
"Yeah, well, have a great time with Theodore!" I announce, turning my back on Harry, running out of the club as I grin and leave my brother behind.
Cool spring breeze hits my face as soon as I walk outside the club. I inhale the fresh air with quite a peaceful feeling inside me as a light smile finds its way to my lips. I have been feeling pretty strange these days. The kind of strange that you don't ever want to let go. It feels like bliss but I don't know the reason why.
The smile which was on my lips soon fades away when my eyes land on the figure in front of me. But the smile does not fade away because of him, but what is about to happen to him.
My eyes widen at the car coming in full speed from the left towards Louis, who seems to be crossing the road with his phone against his ear as he seems fully engrossed in the conversation he is having, as he laughs loudly on the call.
"Louis!" I scream, but it does not catch his attention as he continues to talk on the phone and cross the road. My head snaps in the direction where the car is coming from, my heartbeat getting rapidly faster as each second passes by.
Before I know it, my legs take me to the main road as I run towards Louis and grab his hand pulling him to the footpath on the other side. We stumble and he falls upon me, when, only a few seconds later, the car passes by us, making my heart pound in my chest at a furious speed. Louis lies on top of me, his eyes wide as he stares at me with baffled expressions. I quickly push him aside gently, as I sit up straight to face him.
"Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" I ask him with worry lacing my voice as I look at him with my eyes squinted and eyebrows knitted together.
Louis quietly stares at me, his ocean blue eyes anxious, as he continues to stay silent and not utter a word.
"Louis?" I slowly call out his name and his mouth slightly opens and his eyebrows rise a little.
"Did you just call me Louis?"
