Prologue
Kody's POV: Cold.....Cold....Why is it always so cold? The ground is always cold, especially during the night. And when you're alone everything seems below zero. I sat there on that cold hard ground, my head buried in my knees, shivering constantly at the breeze that brushed by me. The simple white t-shirt and black shorts I wore gave me no protection from nights like these. The wall I sat against was no help. Not even the tail that I was given at birth can warm me. Nothing can. Everything is just cold. Cold, cold, cold, oh why is it always cold....?
God what have I done to deserve this....? What have I done wrong? What did I do to make my father leave me? Was I that bad of a child? Am I that much of a burden on those I depend on? Why can't I be happy? Am I not supposed to be here? Would everything be better if I just disappeared? Disappear-
"Hey kid..." I lifted my head up in alarm at the sudden voice. Standing above me, tall and proud, were three men. The one on the left had dark purplish blue hair with pointy ears on his head. A weredog nonetheless. He was quite pale with gray eyes, dressed in a brown jacket with a simple white undershirt and blue jeans that matched his hair. The one on the right was also of weredog origins, this one having orange hair and baby blue eyes. He wore an orange hood as well that perfectly blended with his hair. The man in the center had hair similar to the weredog on his left, but his hair was much lighter. He was also a pale white, had blue eyes, wore a red jacket and jeans, and a black t-shirt that seemed to say the words "Bad and Dirty". Unlike the other two, he wasn't a weredog, but he was the only one out of the three who wasn't wearing a collar with a tag.
The man in the middle snapped his fingers in front of my face. I guess I was so distracted on their appearance that I didn't even notice he was speaking to me. "Yo. I said get outta here..." he said pointing in a random direction. I rolled my eyes, expression staying neutral as I slowly stood up from where I sat and picked up the backpack next to me. It seems that my simple notion of well known 'sassiness' had agrivated the human because he scoffed and grabbed my arm. "Don't you dare go rolling your eyes at me..." he said grabbing onto my hair harshly making me flinch and drop my bag. "You should know to respect your superiors kid...." He said right into my ear. His closeness made me growl in frustration. I hated what he was saying and how he was speaking to me. I hated how he was keeping me locked in place. I hated how he just wouldn't back away. In a slight panic from the anxiety I was feeling I moved my arms and legs in a sharp motion accidentally elbowing the man in the face. He let me go and growled as I stumbled forward. When I turned to him he was holding his nose, a small bit of blood dripping from his hand. He looked beyond pissed. "Oh you're gonna regret that kid!" he said as he nudged the two weredogs beside him with his shoulders. The two seemed to have gotten the message as their bodies began to shift from a human appearance to a more feral form. The weredog's eyes glowed brightly as the growled, their teeth sharp and intimidating. They seemed sharp enough to cut through straight bone. I backed away from them and they stepped forward. I was fearful, yes, but I didn't show that clearly. Showing fear made made a weredog look weak and pitiful. Tsk. And as if I needed more people thinking worse of me.
Soon enough I couldn't back away any more and hit a brick wall. I was officially trapped. The human picked my bag up from the ground, planning to take the contents from within it as his goons took care of his problems. He looked towards my direction and waved his hand slightly. "Get 'em." he said. Then, the weredogs charged.
No One's POV: The weredogs followed their 'masters' command and charged simultaneously at the young teen. Kody had managed to roll completely out of the way of one of them, but the one covered in a blue coat still got a slash at him. The cut wasn't too deep, but it still made Kody flinch in pain. The orange coated dog rounded around from his missed attack and pounced on top of the smaller. His claws dug into Kody's bare skin as he struggled to get away. He growled at Kody giving snaps at his face, but he was moving around to much. It was getting a bit difficult to hold him down. The other weredog, seeing the teen struggle, decided to join in on keeping the him down by biting harshly into his shoulder. This made him let out a small yelp of pain, but he continued to stay strong, gritting his teeth. Kody struggles however seemed to become weaker because of the jaw that was slowly digging deeper into his shoulder.
Meanwhile, the human who apparently referred to himself as 'Bad and Dirty' was watching the tousle, giving off sadistic like snickers at the struggles of the younger boy. What? He deserved it. The man smiled seeing his two dogs managing to pin the boy down more and then turned his attention to the bag in his hand. He brought it up to eye level and scoffed. 'With the way that kid is there probably isn't anything in it....' he thought to himself. He sighed half-heartedly. 'Wouldn't hurt to look I guess. Maybe he has money...' The man lifted the latch of the bag open and sticking his hand inside. 'C'mon baby give me that sweet-' a bright flash of green light appeared, 'mula?' The man cut off his own thoughts and looked around. Even his weredog servants haulted their attacks to discover the source of the light. When one of them spotted the sight of their boss he screamed.
"You're on fire!!" He said with his companion barking the same words. The human cocked his eye brow not quite clearly hearing what they were saying.
"I'm on what!?" He yelled back. A sudden smell of smoke filled his nostrils as he looked down seeing his pant leg lit up in green flames. The human screamed in terror trying to put out the fire with his hands. His two weredog goons ran over in a panic releasing Kody from their grip. They transformed again from their feral to their human forms trying to aid their 'master' in putting out the fire. When they did, his pants were left with a deep scuff mark. All three of them looked around, senses alert. They had completely given up on attacking the teen boy and were now more intent on looking for the source of that fire. Suddenly, another flash of green light appeared making the two weredogs cover their eyes with their sleeves and the human jolt. When the light disappeared, in its place stood a boy and woman. The woman was tall and had bright white hair that flowed gracefully behind her. Her eyes were a bright green and showed fierceness that could intimidate any man. Her black suit only made her more intimidating. The boy next to her looked like an exact replica of her, having the bright white hair and green eyes. He could only be presumed as the woman's son. He wore more causal like clothing however, having a red hoodie, a blue striped underhsirt, and black pants. The three men started at the two before them, entranced on their white hair that basically sparkled in the moonlight. The woman was the first to speak.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but it seems that you've been messing with one of my pupils." she said with a smile, "I'm sorry if he caused you any trouble, but I'd like to have him back now if you don't mind." The three me shivered at the woman's smile despite how sweet it looked. One of the weredogs put a hand on his 'masters' shoulder.
"M-maybe we should leave. This could get ba-" The human shook it off and stepped forward.
"And what makes you think lady, that you can just barge into our important business and tell US what to do?" he scoffed and crossed his arms confidently. He held a smug grin. 'Yeah that's right. I'm cool. She can't tell us what to do. She's just a girl.' he thought to himself thinking he did the right thing. Big mistake.
"Perhaps I didn't make myself clear...." the lady's soft expression suddenly turned into a cold glare, "release the boy now." she said as her son's sight drifted to Kody, whom was still laying on the ground not even bothering to move. The human shivered at the lady's coldness, but still decided to play the dumb game and tried to be a big boy.
"N-no! L-like I said this is our business, so fuck off!" Oh that drew the last straw... The lady gave a fake smile and clapped her hands together.
"Well it seems that I have no choice then!" she said removing her white gloves and putting them in her pocket. "Since you're just too stupid to understand simple English, I guess I'll have to teach you a lesson!" she said happily, but threateningly. The two weredogs got ready to run away, but the human grabbed their arms.
"You two are not leaving me here! If I have to get punished so do you!" He said as his goons whimpered sadly as the woman stepped closer to them summoning a green flame in her hand. "We're so dead..." the three simotaneously said out loud. A scream of pure terror rang out from the three as the woman's son walked past the situation and towards to boy on the ground. He crouched down beside him. The teen had a huge bite mark on his shoulder and dozens of scratch marks on his arms. Despite this, he didn't look hurt. In fact he seemed quite content on just laying there. Looking more at his appearance, he noticed the small black tail petruding from under him and the fluffy black ears the twitched on his head. 'So he's a weredog too..." he thought to himself. He scanned the other boy's appearance for another few seconds when another scream rang out from the three men the boy's mom was 'teaching'. It was at this point that the white haired boy decided to say something.
"Are you okay?" He asked politely. The weredog didn't answer. The boy scratched his head awkwardly. "What's your name?" Still no answer. 'God this is so awkward. Why isn't he saying anything?' he thought. 'He's not mute is he?' The white haired boy tapped his chin. After a few seconds, the weredog finally spoke.
"Why are you helping me?" he said sadly, making a small bit of eye contact with the other boy.
"Because Kody." a sudden voice rang out. Kody sat up and turned his head as the white haired boy turned his head as well to see his mother walking over here slowly. Despite the fact she just had what we call a 'violent conversation', she still looked flawless.
"How do you know my name....?" he asked. The lady gave a small giggle.
"Let's just say I knew someone close to you." she said standing in front of the two boys. "I'm aware of the fact that you don't have a proper home Kody...am I correct?" she asked being as gentle as she could with her words. Kody was going to say something, but instead he looked down sadly and nodded. That lady smiled. "Well how would you like to come live with my son and I? We could enjoy some more company." Kody's immediately lifted up his head.
"W-what?" he said in utter disbelief. He couldn't believe it. He wasn't begging for some shelter for the night. Instead, he was being asked to basically be given a home. It seemed to good to be true.
"You heard me right. I'm offering you a place to stay. Of course you'll have to put work in like everyone else, but I want you to come and live with us." Kody couldn't express what he felt in words. He felt tears come to the brim of his eyes. He quickly wiped them away with his arm so he wouldn't seem weak. The lady laughed a little. Kody stood up in front of the magical pair and nodded his head shyly. The lady beamed and her son smiled. "Ah! I'm so happy you agreed to it. Oh! And I believe this is yours." she held out a small bag in her hand. Kody grabbed it instantly and checked the contents from within it. He gave a thankful sigh that nothing was taken and gave a small thank you to the white haired lady. She gave a small nod and waved her hand in her direction. "C'mon now! Let's get home so we can all get washed up!" the son nodded and Kody slung his backpack over his shoulder. The two boys followed the tall woman down the road to which was presumably the direction of the home. The walk was completely silent, until one of the boy's spoke.
"So...you're name is Kody right?" the smaller of the two said. Kody nodded not even bothering to make eye contact with him. "Well...." the boy ran in front of the weredog stopping him in his tracks. He spun around with his hand behind his back having a small smile on his face.
"I'm Lumine."

Finally done! I really hope you guys enjoyed this! Since the two are swapped and don't have an actual cannon story, I put quite a few twists into how this went. Still I hope you enjoyed this small start into my Komine story.
Btw, since Lumine's mom technically doesn't have a name yet (since she hasn't been I introduced technically) what do you think her name should be? Tell me in comments!
Yes I made the cover. No their designs weren't made by me. Emma Krogell has the credit for that.
