The Little Mermaid

Once upon a time in the deep blue ocean there was an underwater kingdom where the sea life and mermaids lived. It was a peaceful kingdom ruled by King Trident who had several beautiful mermaid daughters who he loved dearly.

One of his daughters were fascinated by those who walked on land. Her father warned her to stay away from them but she didn't listen.

One day, whilst visiting the surface, a large storm had begun to brew, making the normal calm waves violent and dangerous. Not far from the curious mermaid was a large ship, battling the dangerous weather conditions.

The ship eventually lost control and smashed into a nearby rock. The ships Crew began to jump over board, and swim to shore nearby. All but one who was trapped under some netting. He struggled to get out as the boat began to sink to the inky depths.

The curious mermaid began to swim towards him, her body moving on her own. If her father found out then she would truly be dead. When she swam towards the unconscious man who was now below the dark water, she was fascinated by his beauty but quickly remembered that he can't breathe under water like her. It didn't take her long to free him and she immediately brought him up to the surface and she swam to the nearby shore.

By this time the sun had begun to rise, the warm rays shining on the man's dark hair. The man's eyes began to flutter open, the curious mermaid was astounded by him, her heart began to flutter.

"YOUR HIGHNESS WHERE ARE YOU" A voice called out causing the mermaid to quickly hide behind a rock.

"Ah there you are, we need to get you to an infirmary immediately" the voice said, helping the man up.

"I was saved by a beautiful woman..." The man said looking around the beach.

"But your highness, there's no one else here" the attendant said. "Perhaps you swallowed too much sea water" the attendant joked.

"I know what I saw" the man muttered before being rushed off by his associate.

"I want to see him again" the mermaid said, watching him leave.

The curious mermaid couldn't wait for her new interest was in a sunken ship so she decided to join him on land. Only problem is she had a tail and no legs. The curios mermaid had heard rumors of a sea witch who could give her legs for a small price.

"So you want some legs?" The sea witch said, blowing into her pipe.

"It's easy enough, but obviously I need a payment" the witch said with a smirk.

"How about that pretty voice of yours? I think that's a fair price" the witch muses.

"O-okay" the curious mermaid said. She was unsure about the deal laid out infront of her but sea witch already held a contract out for her to sign.

The curious mermaid immediately signed the contract without hesitation.

"Just be warned my dear, failure to win his heart within three days will cause you to turn into sea foam"

Be careful what you wish for my dear

When Y/n awoke she was immediately starteled by the yelling and the sound of objects being thrown around.

"PROTECT THE PRINCESS" A gruff voice yelled from outside Y/n's room. Y/n sat up and looked around the room. It seemed to be a cabin of sorts but the odd thing was, the whole room was rocking.

Y/n glanced outside the window, only to discover she was at sea.

"Oh gosh... wait didn't I die?" Y/n muttered, pinching her skin, confirming she was in fact, alive. She remembered clearly that Snow White had killed her with a poison apple but it didn't make sense that she was now on a ship that was fighting on a storm.

"WE'RE SINKING, GET THE PRINCESS AND ABANDON SHIP" A man yelled before the door Y/n was in was forced open.

"Princess I'm terribly sorry but we need to get you off this ship" a rough looking fisherman soaked in water said awkwardly. He wasn't too sure how to address the newly awoken Princess.

"Fine fine let's get going" Y/n said with a sigh, getting out of bed.

"Uh Princess are you not gonna get dressed first?" The Fisherman asked, colour rising to his cheeks.

"Are you dumb?" Y/n asked him with an annoyed expression.

"The ship is sinking and you want me to change out of my pyjamas? We don't have time for that" Y/n yells at the Fisher man, who now suddenly remembers the emergency situation.

"Right you are Princess, come on let's get you to the emergency boats"

"But father I want to be with the land people" Arian pleads.

"The land people are dangerous, you don't know what they'll do to you if they see you" Triden explains to his son. Arian was his most handsome son, with bright red hair and deep blue eyes that matched the ocean depths. Arian was set to become king one day, so having him risk his life was out of the question.

"Can't I just even catch a glimpse of them?" Arian begs his strict father, knowing is pleading won't do much.

"I said no and that's final" Triden snaps, making Arian to go silent in fear of angering his father more.

"SIRE THERES REPORTS OF A SHIP SINKING NEAR THE COAST" a solider says, rushing over.

"Of course there is, do you see that Arian the humans care so little about the ocean they allow their ships to sink" Triden snaps. "Arian you are to stay in your room till I have this mess sorted out" His father snaps before swimming away leaving Arian alone.

"You're not going to your room are you?" A crab who worked as an announcer for his father asks. "Nope" Arian said before swimming off quietly.

It didn't take long for Arian to find the ship wreck his father went to monitor. Quickly hiding behind some rocks to avoid being spotting Arian watched at parts of the ship and the items inside it began to sink down to the sea bed. Arian was exited to hunt for lost goods once his father had returned.

"Alright let's head back, there's nothing here for us" Arian heard his father say from some distance away. Quickly ducking down behind the rock to avoid being spotted. Once the coast was clear, Arian swam to the surface, shocked to see the difference.

The surface had heavy rain pounding down from the sky, thunder could be heard near by and bolts of lighting were flashing furiously. A stark difference from the calm of the underwater world. This was the first time Arian had seen this type of weather, and it scared him, how could thr surface world he admired and longed for so much could be so terrifying.

Just as Arian was ready to leave he heard an ear piercing shriek.

"HELP ME PLEASE SOMEONE" a female cried out. Arian looked over in the direction of the cry for help and saw a girl clinging to a piece of drift wood sputtering for help.

'Don't be seen by humans, they're dangerous' his father's words repeated in his mind.

"But she'll die out here" he murmered. Without thinking Arian plunged back into the water and swam with great speed to where the girl was. He grabbed her thrashing legs and began to swim at a great speed to the nearest shore. Arian was sure she was screaming and panicking because she was being dragged around by an unknown force.

Almost within a blink of an eye, Y/n found herself back at shore, her lungs filled with salt water, immediately she began wheezing and coughing to try and clea her lungs out. The sun was rising on the horizon, and the sky was turning into a deep blue.

"Is this my world? I hope not if that's how my day starts" Y/n says dryly to no one in particular, unaware that her saviour was hiding behind a rock nearby, watching her every movement.

Arian was facisentaed by this human he had saved. She was beautiful, her h/c locks were soaking wet and clung to her face, sand stuck to her damp body and her clothes were torn. But she was still the most beautiful being he had ever seen in his life.

"She needs to be mine" he whispered to himself. "Princess Y/n! OH THANK GOODDNESS WE THOUGHT YOU DIED" a woman yells running up to Y/n. Arian made sure he was hidden before continuing to observe Y/n. "What happened to the man with red hair?" Y/n asked, standing up with the help of the attendant. 'She... saw me?' Arian thought, his body tingling. He wasn't sure why but the thought of being noticed by this human filled him with an additcive feeling. He wanted more.

"Milady there was no one with red hair on the expedition? Perhaps you hit your head to hard?" The attendant suggests. "No there was a man with red hair, he took my back to shore he saved my life" Y/n explained. "I don't see anyone with red hair. Come now let's get you back to the Palace" the attendant says dragging Y/n away.

'No don't take my bride away!' Arian wanted to scream against his better judgement. His father would exile him if he revealed himself to humans. And besides... Y/n might not love him if she saw what he was. There was only one solution to this. Arian dove back into the sea swimming at full speed to the deep darks of the ocean.

The attendant had briefed Y/n's father, the king, on what Y/n had said about her rescue. The king wasted no time in ordering the kingdom to find the man with red hair. And soon enough one was brought to the Palace. "Y/n was this the man who rescued you?" Her father asked. Y/n looked at the man with shaggy red hair, the colour was a bright red, brighter than the colour of a setting sky. Arian looked at her nervously, awaiting her response. Y/n opened her mouth to speak but found no words came out.

Clutching at her throat the people in the room began to panic. "Y/n are you okay? Someone get a doctor!" the king ordered as several people began to scramble in different directions to fulfill is command.

Arian didn't look too surprised at the scene before him. After all he expected this with the deal he made with Urseula the sea witch. "Your majesty if I may. I was sailing a small boat when I came across the sinking ship that belonged to our kingdom. Many people had already been taken by death but not our beloved princess. Although she was unconscious she could still be saved. So I took her back on my boat and I immediately swam her back to shore, I think the stress of the situation may have caught up with her" Arian explained, as a doctor finally entered the room and began to examine the Princess.

"What the young man says, is the truth" the doctor concludes. Bowing to the king. "Right... Y/n is this the man who saved you?" The King asked. Y/n nodded recognising Arian. "Young man you have done a great deed to not only the kingdom but myself as a father. Please if there's anything you desire just say the word and its yours" the king says.

"I'd like your daughters hand in marriage" Arian says without hesitation. Gasps were sent around the room. The king didn't know whether to be enraged or impressed by the young man's boldness. "I will permit you to court her but ultimately the decision of who Y/n marries is up to her. If at any point she decides not to pursue a marriage with you, we will put a stop to it, do I make myself clear?"

"Absolutely your highness"

"

Ah Y/n, do you have some free time there's somewhere I'd like to take you" Arian says dashing up to Y/n, it had only been two days since he arrived. Y/n, whose voice still hadn't returned, simply nodded. "Perfect we must leave at once. I've already notified the guards." Arian says eagerly. Compared to Snow White, she muched preferred Arian. He was sweet and very attentive to her. Even without saying anything he seemed to know exactly what she was thinking.

Arian took her to a forest just outside the Palace, they entered a clearing that revealed a large lake and a small row boat resting on the waters surface. The sun had begun to set, a dark red colour enveloped the sky. Arian took her by the hand and helped her into the row boat and he sat down across from her and rowed into the middle of the lake.

"Sorry I don't know if you've ever been here before but I thought it would be a nice date for us" Arian explains sheepishly. "You know Y/n you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen" he says taking a hold of her hand. Y/n smiles gently at him as thanks. "Ah gosh that smile of yours it really makes me happy. Please only smile at me from now on okay?" Arian asks. Y/n nods. "You have no idea how happy that makes me" Arian says.

Fireflies lit up around them as the sound of crickets could be heard in the distance. The whole scene was incredibly romantic. "Can I... kiss you?" Arian asked. Y/n nodded slowly, Arian leaned forward, placing his soft lips onto hers. Arian smelt of the sea, it was rather soothing to her.

After what felt like an eternity Arian pulled back, his face as red as his hair. "That was very much the greatest feeling I have ever experienced with in my entire life" Arian smiled, he wanted to kiss her again and again and then perhaps take her on the shore of this lake. But he had to be patient, their first time would be special. But was this not special enough?

"Y/n can you try speak for me... please?" Arian asked eagerly. Y/n opened her mouth to try and respond but once again no words fell out. Arians eyes opened wide in a panic. "B-But how... true loves first kiss was supposed to return your voice... thats what the witch said." Arian mumbled. Y/n's eyes widened. A witch!? What the fuck. Y/n immediately realised how trapped she was, she was alone on open water with Arian who was her only means of transport. She needed to leave. Arian was beginning to scare her with his mumbling of witches and spells.

"You must not love me then. But it's okay Y/n you will love me forever I'll make sure of it" Arian clasped her hands, gripping her tightly "Oh the look on your face is simply wonderful, Y/n it will be okay, I can think of ways to get you to speak. I'm very sure that the first time you speak you'll be screaming my name and begging for more." Arian whispered in her ear. Y/n began to tremble in fear.

"Aww look you're shivering in excitement, it's getting me all excited" Arian said kissing biting her ear lobe. Arian felt his hands go wet, looking down he saw Y/n beginning to turn into seafoam.

"This wasn't supposed to happen? It was supposed to be me? Y/n it's okay my love" Arian said, realising what was happening and holding her close. Y/n was in immense pain but she couldn't scream. Her only source of comfort was given to her by the man she feared. As her vision once again faded to black.

"HOW COULD YOU TAKE HER FROM ME?" Arian screamed at the sea witch who seemed completely unfazed by the meramans sudden outburst. "Oh relax. You signed for this remember?" The sea witch said, brandishing his contract with her. Arian clenched his teeth angrily. "Your contract is flawed. She loved me I know she did we were inlove!" Arian exclaimed. "Oh please you've known her for less than a week" the sea witch said rolling her eyes. "I don't care she is mine"

"Was, she's dead now remember"

"You'll be sorry for this"

"I should probably work on my apology letter then" the sea witch said flicking her wrist and a strong current entered her cave taking Arian out with it.

"Good luck Y/n. Hopefully your next world isn't full of psychos..." The sea witch whispered.
