The Way She Looks
Kyo’s POV
“Kuroko you idiot! Balls don’t bounce on sand!” Hyuuga-senpai scolded Kuroko-kun. I giggled while Kagami-kun and Hyuuga-senpai yelled at him while I stood under my umbrella with Aida-senpai and Ame-ne beside me, also with umbrellas.
“Man, it’s so hot” Aida-senpai fanned herself, sweat running down on her skin.
“Well, it is summer already” I pointed out and smiled at her. I glanced at Ame-ne who was busy playing her game on her PSP again while murmuring something. Hmm, I wonder what she’s talking about.
Probably about that Aquo of hers again. “Ame-ne, you’re so weird. Stop day dreaming about Aquo!” I told her.
“Shut up Kyo! I’m not murmuring about Aquo! I’m already done with that game!” she snapped, anger filled in her voice. Judging by her response…
“Stupid training… stupid summer… stupid basketball…”
…she was muttering curses about having to go in this Training Camp…
I sweat dropped. She really hates going out. During the summer, she’d always stay in the house instead of going to the beach with the family. Maiyo-ne had to always drag her along and threaten her the way I do to today. Maiyo-ne was the one who advised to use it against Ame-ne when she had to move to her dorm to her new private school.
“Ow!” Ame-ne yelped after getting hit by a ball at the head accidentally, by Kiyoshi-senpai.
Ooh~Senpai’s making his way over to her right now!!~~I have to contain my fangirl feels. I tried to supress my squeals weirding out Aida-senpai who gave me a weird look and glance over to Kiyoshi-senpai and Ame-ne. “He accidentally hit her?” she asked as I nodded my head smiling. “What are you so happy about? You should get your sister an ice bag for her head”
“Oh, y-yes!” I nodded and made my way to the nearest beach stand where I think shaved ice was sold.
Ame’s POV
Ghh… stupid ball… stupid Teme… stupid everything! “Ow!” I flinch when I touched my head after TEME hit it accidentally with the ball. Well, I think it was that phantom that did one of his passes again which Teme failed to catch, thus, it hitting my head. Ouch… it hurts…
“Amei-chan! Are you okay?” Yes, I am okay. The ball wasn’t really that hard, and phantom’s cyclone passes aren’t that strong so yeah, I’m okay. NOT.
“Tch, what do you think?” I sneered, facing my back at him. Just leave me alone T3T
“Araki-senpai, are you okay?” Yeah I’m—WTF? Who said that?! I jumped away from my spot, with a mini heart attack after a soft voice spoke just beside me. Who the hell… “K-K-who are you?”
There stood a light blue haired teen boy with icy blue eyes, staring at me bluntly like a ghost. Seriously he’s like one!! I looked at him and swallowed the lump in my throat and didn’t notice that I moved closer to Teme -__- “Amei-chan, that’s Kuroko-kun, our phantom sixth man!” Kiyoshi started to pat my head completely forgetting that it just got his by a ball.
“My head hurts! Stop it!” I yelled at him. He stopped immediately and said sorry sheepishly and drapes his arm around my shoulder. “And he’s not a sixth man anymore! He’s in the first five!”
“Oh? Amei-chan actually remembered that?” he was somehow amused.
“If there’s something I remember then that’s probably because Kyo keeps on fangirling about basketball and the so called Generation of Miracles!”
“Is that so?”
“And she keeps on remembering this guy!” I pointed at K-Ku… Kutomai??? I gave him a questioning look that says “what’s your name again?” before he bowed and introduced himself.
“Umm, I’m Kuroko Tetsuya, Araki-senpai. And I understand that you don’t know me. I’m always forgotten” ouch, that gotta hurt… but—
“Um, Araki-senpai, what are you doing?” I pushed Teme’s arm away and put my index finger on my kohais lips shushing him. “Shh, it’s okay; I know how you feel my long lost brother…” I told him while patting his head likes he’s some lost little boy and my other hand was hugging him around the shoulders. I can somehow relate to this guy; because like him, nobody took interest in talking to me or even talk to me. I was always alone and forgotten.
Or rather, they forget me on purpose. So I—
“Eh?!” I looked down and—“Where’s…”—the phantom’s gone. He’s totally a ghost!! =^=
“Amei-chan, do you like going to the beach?” Temme asked me but I looked away from his ANNOYING face.
“You can see it on my face, can’t you?” I remarked. Just go away =_= yeah, I used to go to the beach when I was younger but now I hate going here. -__- the sand is so hard to walk on, and people keep on playing volleyball around that causes many many accidents.
“Hmm, I can’t. Your face is always emotionless...” he replied, leaning closer to my face. Why this little--“Move your face away!”—I pushed his away as Kyo arrived with an ice bag.
“Ame-ne! I brought this for your head!^_^” she chirped and handed me a bag of ice at the same time taking my PSP and coach suddenly appeared. My PSP TT^TT
“Teppei, go back to practice” Coach ordered sternly and he obeyed like a little dog. HA. That’s right walk away!
“Oh…” Teme stopped and went over to me and held my hands using it to put the ice bag on my head so my hands were on top of my head as he patted it softly. He smiled at me warmly (and annoyingly). “Amei-chan, I can tell that you love going to the beach. I can see the way you look at the sand and sea” he whispered at my ear and pulled away leaving me confused…
The way I look at the sand and sea…? Dafq does that mean?
Teme re-joined the practice while I still stared at the court where… people play basketball… basketball… that sh*t… the reason why I’m in this situation. Why did I have to inherit that old man’s expertise on that sport? That sh*t… I don’t even know where he is… ugh…
Anyway, time to come up with that training program I promised to do for Coach… which I have no idea what… hmm…
“Hmm, just by looking at your face, I can tell you enjoy watching the team play” Coach suddenly spoke up making me cringe and be silent for a while.
Kyo’s POV
“I… I need to go to the restroom” Ame-ne suddenly excused herself after Aida-senpai commented on her gazes.
Well, it is true.
Ame-ne doesn’t notice it but her face is calm and at ease while staring the Seirin team plays. As if remembering the time we met those three kids on the street court. Kotareikichi-nee’s! hehe, I call them that because I really ship their bromance! ^_^ they also knew my sister, in fact, they manage to make friends with her (surprisingly) but they had to move away so yeah… Ame-ne came back to her original self like always…
I think she actually misses them. Especially—“Kyo-chan” I snapped out of my thoughts when Aida-senpai called me.
“H-Hai?” I replied.
“Did Araki-san finish the task I asked her to do?” she questioned. Oh the training program…
“Unfortunately…” I hinted as Aida-senpai sighed with a sour expression on her face. “As expected, she forgot about it. Again” haha, senpai’s stressed about it. She looked really troubled for nothing so I comforted her and told her everything’s going to be fine. “Don’t worry Aida-senpai. I’m sure Ame-ne’s got it all figured out. Even though that brain of hers is full of games and otakuness, she’s really capable of coming up stuff quickly” I assured and made senpai look at my sister. “And by the way she looks, I can say she’s already figured out what should the team be doing in this training camp”
I gave senpai a reassuring smile.
“If you say so…” Aida-senpai replied convincingly. I glanced back at Ame-ne as my eyes softened.
I think I was lying to Aida-senpai just now because… the way Ame-ne looks at the court is only bluntness…
Like no emotion at all…
But I know behind those eyes, is sadness.
