NOT A QUITTER

Everything in Chan's body had screamed at him to run back to the safety of his lunch table, away from the boy at the vending machines, but he was too close to back down. His bottom lip quivered in fright as he took a step closer, the brunet still a few feet away from him, pre-occupied still by the vending machine. Felix's eyes scanned the display case for a few seconds before turning back to the keypad to punch in what he wanted.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Chan, turning towards him while the machine retrieved what he wanted.

"I can literally see him shaking from here, that dude has it bad." Jeongin said, only feeling a small amount of sympathy for his friend.

"Minho, stop procrastinating and just hit send or else you'll miss the main event over here!" Hyunjin scolded the male who's eyes were completely glued to his phone, thumb hovering over the send button while Chan got closer and closer to the infamous Lee Felix.

Seungmin suddenly smacked Minho on the shoulder, forcing him to hit send. Before he could freak out, though, Seungmin spoke. "He noticed him! He noticed him! No backing out now, Minho. Chan is literally about to get punched in the face so you can shoot your shot!"

Leaving his phone face-down on the table, Minho looked over to the scene by the vending machines where a shaking blond stood in front of a brooding brunet, who looked as if he could kill Chan in a single heartbeat. Minho's heart pounded for Chan as he could do nothing but watch from afar.

Felix's eyes looked the blonde up and down, yet still not sparing him a single glance as he turned back to the machine. A polite way of saying 'fuck off' it seemed. But, Chan knew that he had to go further to really make his trip over here, not to mention his extreme nervousness, all worth it.

Composing himself as best as he could in a couple of seconds, he opened his mouth. "Hi."

"Fuck off."

Honey, pure honey is the only way Chan could describe the voice of Lee Felix. It was all he could think about as he stupidly smiled, walking away from the vending machines. After he had been admiring the brunet for so long, that had been the first time he had ever heard his voice. Its deepness certainly caught him off guard, but at the same time he almost expected it. All he said was two words, and they were no where near nice, but Chan knew he'd give anything to hear that voice again. It was audible honey, sweet and pure and sticking to his memory with no chance of ever leaving.

"Did he punch you and we just didn't see or did it actually go well?" Jeongin took a sip from his milk, looking up at the smiling blond as he returned back to their table.

Giddy, Chan took the carrot stick that Minho had offered him. "He told me to fuck off." He smiled, staring off happily at nothing as he bit the end off the carrot.

Seungmin turned to Minho. "This poor boy got rejected for you, dude, now he's broken."

Before Minho could respond, Chan jumped straight back into the conversation. "Hey, I'm no quitter, I'll go talk to him tomorrow too."

And he did.

In the morning, instead of watching the brunet from afar while his friends judged from right besides him, he marched straight back up to Felix. The only thing that pushed him forward was the possibility of listening to the honey that fell from the boy's lips for even a split second. The blond's heart aches for it.

His confidence was rewarded with another quick and stern, "fuck off." Chan, of course, did what was asked of him and walked back to his friends with a wide smile.

"Told you to fuck off again?"

Chan just nodded.

Then did the same thing the very next day, this time at lunch with the same results as the first time. But, that didn't stop him from doing it again. And again. And again. And again.

And again, until he had done it for probably a month straight, no longer caring to count after a week, and it seemed that Felix was ready to explode with frustration.

It was the morning, class was sent to start in approximately forty-five minutes, and Chan was fired up, each step he took held an air of confidence he had never felt before. Almost as if a part of him knew that something great was about to happen.

Well, in the eyes of Bang Chan, anything relating to Lee Felix was great.

His friends already knew where was the best place to stand to watch Chan get rejected by his long-term crush, so they walked to that spot as if it was nothing special, which it really wasn't. After all, it did used to be the spot where Chan would hopelessly watch Felix, his heart inflating at the sight before he would begrudgingly head in the direction of his class, far away from the brunet.

When the blond approached him, Felix was attempting scrolling through his playlist once more, his mood much worse than it usually was. On the surface, he looked exactly the same as he did before, dressed in black from head-to-toe, blood-red backpack hanging off of one of his shoulders and his scowl adorning his face. Internally, however, Felix was more of a ticking time bomb that usual, for his usual headphones that he usually kept on his person at all times had decided to break the night before for reasons unknown to him. He did have a backup pair, but they were of lesser quality, which meant they couldn't drown out the noise around him as easily. Then, he had tripped on his backpack strap while getting out of bed, and could prove it happened with the growing bruise that was sure to appear on his elbow later, not to mention his father had to go into work thirty minutes earlier which meant that Felix had to wake up thirty minutes earlier to account for it.

And, of course, there was the matter of the nuisance known as Bang Chan, who had been the biggest pain in the ass for a whole month. How many times could you tell a person to fuck off before they finally got the hint?

Not enough, apparently.

Now, Felix was attempting to scroll through his playlist, but the stupid application had logged him out, and his forgetful self definitely didn't know the password. Basically, any little annoyance could set the brunet off as he leaned back onto the lockers behind him. A sigh escaped his lips as he ripped the headphones out of his ears. "Fucking useless." He cursed to himself, eyes closed.

The sound of approaching footsteps caused his hands to curl into fists.

"Hello."

There he was again, Bang Chan, the absolute worst human being on the entire planet.

Felix completely exploded.

"How many fucking times do I have to tell you to fuck off before you take a fucking hint! Are you deaf? Or just a dumbass?" English just poured out of his mouth, his head too busy to think to use the preferred language of South Korea. Felix's screams echoed down the hallway, a fatal look in his eye as he turned on Bang Chan, who suddenly seemed a lot less sure of himself after hearing the anger in the brunet's voice.

Yet, he kept that same, stupid smile on his face, only allowing it to leave for a second before lighting up once again. "Oh my god! You're Australian? Me too! Isn't that great?" Chan replied in English, suddenly excited that he shared the same home country as Lee Felix.

The brunet's anger skyrocketed. Truly, there was no winning when it came to the parasite known as Bang Chan.

"Fuck. Off."

As Felix stormed away from Chan, he shoved into the blond's shoulder so hard the older boy fell backwards into the ground. Felix, hoping the parasite got hurt from the fall, walked away as if nothing happened, uncurling his fists to reveal crescent shaped marks from his fingernails.
