A New Time
When the dust had finally disappeared, the four teens were a jumble of limbs. When they finally got ahold of themselves and stood, Lily picked up the remains of a golden necklace.
"Why the bloody hell do you have this!" she demanded in low voice turning to Sirius.
"I snatched it from my mother before my return," he said uneasily. "Prongs and I were curious what it was so we were trying to figure it out."
"This is bloody time turner, Sirius!" Remus roared quietly, not wanting to draw attention to himself. "Bloody hell! We are probably in a different time."
"I doubt that," James scoffed naively. "It didn't work earlier. It probably just broke."
Lily took a deep breath before speaking, trying to keep herself from losing it on this arrogant toe rag. "It is a magical object. Just because it is broken doesn't mean that it doesn't have magical properties still."
Before James could retort, the four were silenced by voices.
"Nothing out of the ordinary tonight, Minnie," a girl's voice filtered through their ears.
"And have you done anything?" the familiar voice of Minerva McGongall was heard. "Will any students fall victim to your shenanigans?"
"Now, now, Minnie," the girl laughed, as they came into view of the four teens, who were thankful for James's cloak and the darkness. "I can't tell you that. And if it does happen, what'd reckon? I wouldn't multitask at my unofficial job?"
The girl was beautiful to say the least. Her caramel hair fell past her shoulders in beach waves and her amber eyes shone with mischief. She wore a black leather jacket and what looked like a worn green sweater that looked to belong to her father.
"I suppose not," the ever stern McGonagall smiled slightly before turning stern. "I don't like how much responsibility is being forced upon you."
"Neither do my dads," the girl said solemnly. "But I can assure you that I can handle it. Besides, need I remind you that I did offer to do it?"
"Nova," the elder woman said sternly. "You are fifteen! You should not be doing what the adults around you are supposed to be doing."
"Like Harry trusts any adults right now," Nova retorted. "Unless your Snuffles, then you won't hear his opinion about the weather. Not to mention, with everything that happened last year, he isn't inclined to trust anyone beyond me, Ron, and Hermione. And I refuse to allow them to do any of this until it is absolutely necessary. None of this would've happened if I hadn't been so weak-"
"Don't you dare call yourself that," McGonagall said fiercely.
The four time travelers all shared a glance. It wasn't unknown that their professor cared for her students, but it was rare for her to express it.
"You are merely just a girl," she reminded. "An extremely talented girl, but a girl nonetheless. Until recently, you weren't trained to beat him. You weren't trained to fight him or any of his cronies."
"Perhaps," Nova shrugged before looking at an imaginary watch on her wrist. "I best be off, Minnie. Hermione would notice my absence then tell Ron and Harry. I'd rather not have them parading around the castle."
"Goodnight, Miss Lupin-Black," McGonagall said with a soft smile. "Keep your head up."
"'Night, Minnie!"
The moment the girl was gone, James and Lily turned to Remus and Sirius. Lily's face held the biggest smirk known to man.
"Lupin-Black, eh?" James raised his eyebrows.
Lily slapped her hand over James' mouth, and pointed to wear McGonagall stood. While it wasn't the most fortunate situation, this was the closest James has been to Lily without her trying to hex him.
"Show yourselves."
Sheepishly, the group emerged from under the cloak and from behind their pillar.
Minnie's stern face had morphed into one of shock.
"Jeez, Mins," James chorkled. "You look as though you've seen a ghost."

Minerva lead them into Dumbledore's office, where he sat at his desk, seemingly unsurprised.
"Mr. Potter, Mr. Black, Mr. Lupin, and Miss Evans," he said, his blue eyes twinkling slightly. "It is a pleasure to see you all again."
"Sir, if you don't mind me asking," the ever polite Lily began, "What year is it?"
"1995," He answered. "I am correct to assume that is quite a jump from the time you came from?"
"We were just finishing off our sixth year," Remus responded. "When we got into a mishap with a time turner."
Dumbledore's gaze focused on Sirius for a moment, before looking at the rest of the group.
"And do you have this time turner?" he inquired.
Sirius placed the shattered object on his desk.
"Minerva, would you mind fixing this up?" Dumbledore asked. She nodded. "Do so quietly? We don't need anymore attention than we are already getting."
"Ah, have you taken up modeling?" James joked. "That ought to explain the attention."
Minerva scoffed, biting back her pain.
"Something like that," Dumbledore replied. "You will all need a change in appearance as to not be recognized which will be accompanied by a change in names."
James' dark hair, somehow, became even darker and much more tamed. His hazel eyes turn baby blue.
Meanwhile, Sirius kept his hair, only making it a tad shorter with dark eyes.
Lily's red hair turned brown and her green eyes became hazel.
Remus sandy brown hair lightened to a blonde color and his were similar to James' new baby blue ones.
However, when the group looked at each other, they looked like themselves.
Sensing their confusion, Dumbledore spoke, "People who know your true identities will know what you look like. Now, for your names..."

When the group arrived in the Gryffindor Common Room, they watched as one of the boys sit in front of the fire. His head snapped up to see who had entered.
When he did, Lily had to do a double take. The boy could've been James' twin. His raven hair was askew as were his circular glasses. He looked...well he looked flat out exhausted.
Before anyone could speak, the girl from the corridor appeared in the same sweater she was wearing earlier.
"Harry, what the bloody hell-" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes before spotting the group. "You lot look a bit old to be first years."
"We are transfers," Lily answered, and stuck her hand out for Nova to shake. "Rose Middletown."
"Nova Lupin-Black," she introduced skeptically, shaking her hand.
"Harry Potter," the boy followed Nova's lead.
James' looked like he could faint. Remus and Sirius's jaws dropped to the floor, and to be honest, so did Lily's.
However, lucky for them, Harry seemed to get that a lot.
"Jason Ladon," Remus introduced, the first to break the spell of shock.
"Ethan Cass," Sirius followed.
"Jacob Higgory."
"Nice to meet you all," Nova said pleasantly, but was eyeing them. It was almost like she was trying to decide if she could trust them or not, and whether or not she could take them. "It is pretty late, so Harry and I are what muggles call hittin the hay."
Once they were out of sight, Sirius turned to James.
"I know for a fact my daughter didn't just go to the boys dorms with your son."
Meanwhile, once Harry had fallen back to sleep after his nightmare, Nova snuck back to her dorm, wondering whether or not to trust the new kids.
