THEORY TWELVE
THEORY TWELVE
This is about 10 season four theories that someone hope come true in season four. Nine things that need to happen. And how the umbrella Academy will end
Also found this on the internet.
---
The show is set to debut its fourth and final season in 2024, and the final outing is expected to answer a lot of questions about the Umbrellas. The Netflix series based on the comics by Gerard Way began streaming in 2019, and gained popularity thanks to the intrigue, mystery, comedy, and superpowered storylines. The Umbrella Academy follows a group of six siblings (and their deceased brother who appears as a ghost), attempting to hold back the impending apocalypse that could end the world.
In the first three seasons of the show, the Hargreeves siblings have stopped the end of the world twice, and experienced a major reset by their adopted father, Reginald Hargreeves in the season 3 finale. However, the series has continued to raise more questions than it answers. But with the final season incoming, it's now or never for the show to answer the burning questions and see the siblings save the world one last time.
---
NUMBER TEEN:
THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY WILL HAVE TO START AN APOCALYPSE TO FINALLY SAVE THE WORLD
Season 3 ended with the Hotel Oblivion revealing it was some sort of highly advanced machine designed to reset the world and create Reginald Hargreeves' perfect universe. Ultimately, the Umbrellas survived the reset, but the entire universe was changed as a result of Reginald's meddling, and the new one appears to be under his control. In order to save the world, the Umbrellas may be forced to cause a new apocalypse and reset the world one more time. In doing so, they may permanently lose their powers, or even be forced to sacrifice themselves.
---
NUMBER NINE:
ALLISON WILL BE THE VILLAIN. TURNING AGAINST HER SIBLINGS
Allison has struggled over the last few seasons after losing her dream life with her husband, Ray, and her daughter, Claire. In season 3, she fully broke down and went to extreme lengths to cause damage to her family by assaulting her brother, Luther, and killing Harlan. Having entered into her villain arc, it seems unusual that Allison was just dropped into a happy ending, with her family back and no consequences. If the rest of the Umbrellas need to reset the world to overthrow Reginald, Allison will not give up her perfect life easily, and having seen the extreme lengths she has gone to get her way, she could easily be a major villain in season 4. Like she is ready to do anything to keep that perfect life she has now with her daughter and husband Ray, she is willing to do anything to keep them, which can make her dangerous, and I think that she will even turn against her own siblings to keep that life she has now.
---
NUMBER EIGHT: ANOTHER NEW HERO TEAM.
THE SQUIRREL ACACDEMY
During the scene where Allison is revealed to be reset into a home where Ray and Claire are alive, there is a brief glimpse of an unusual decoration in their home featuring a squirrel. This could be a clue about a new set of superheroes that has replaced the Umbrella Academy and the Sparrows Academy in this reality. The fact that this is also included in Allison's home could indicate that she is a part of this new team, or even her partner Ray, who could have some drastic differences from the original in this reality.
---
NUMBER SEVEN: REGINALD PLANNED ALL THE APOCALYPSES.
TO CARRY OUT HIS MASTERPLAN
Reginald Hargreeves was revealed to be an alien early in the series, but not much has been developed with that plot. In fact, while Reginald has been present throughout the series, his life and origins remain mostly obscured. The season 3 finale revealed that Reginald had orchestrated a way to bring his wife back and get control over the world with his advanced technology, but it's also possible that he was behind the earlier apocalypses and coordinated the events to try and reorganize the world to suit him.
---
NUMBER SIX: SLOANE BETRAYS LUTHER AND THE UMBRELLAS
SHE DISAPPEARED AT THE END OF SEASON 3
When the Umbrellas emerge from the Hotel Oblivion and arrive in the new reality, some notable people are missing; Allison, Reginald, and Sloane. Both Reginald and Allison are revealed to be living their dream lives, but Sloane isn't shown with the others or anywhere else. It's possible that Sloane was secretly working with Reginald to unite the families by getting Luther to fall in love with her. The Sparrow's timeline version of Ben was seen with the others, so it would be reasonable to assume that, unless something were specifically altered to have her appear elsewhere, she would have been with the rest of the group.
Like I mention in my earlier theory is there might be a big chance that Sloane don't remember her earlier life/timeline, so she wouldn't remember her life in the sparrows or Luther at all, and that can make her extremely vulnerable to manipulation, like for Reginald, who is now the most powerful man in the new timeline. So therefore she might be working for Reginald.
---
NUMBER FIVE: FIVE AND DELORES REUNITE.
LOVE ULTIMATELY WINS OUT
Five is a complex character who has lived a long life exploring and protecting timelines, before being sent back in time, and with a much younger body, to stop the apocalypse. During the show, Five has only been seen to have one great love in his life; Delores, the top half of a store mannequin. Five deserves a happy ending just as the rest of his siblings do, and having him reunite with his fateful partner once again would be an important part of that for his character. And I think in this new timeline, Delores is actually now a real human being.
---
NUMBER FOUR: FIVE WILL DIE TO SAVE THE WORLD FOR GOOD
The show has focused much of its attention on the story of Five and his experiences with the Commission and returning to team up with his siblings. His time travel abilities have allowed him to put a halt to apocalypses and protect others, but he also appears to be at the center of many of these controversies, with a version of himself even founding the Commission. Considering his story is so integral to the larger narrative, it appears that Five may be the most at risk of having his story wrapped up in season 4 in a final and definite way.
---
NUMBER THREE: BEN'S DEATH AND THE JENNIFER INCIDENT WILL BE REVEALED.
HOW UMBRELLA BEN REALLY DIED
One of the ongoing mysteries in the series and the comics is about how Ben died in the first place. The series dropped some hints about what might have happened in season 3 with multiple references to the "Jennifer incident" It appears that both Ben in the Umbrella Universe and the Sparrows had a connection with Jennifer, but this could be where their stories split. The series making explicit reference in multiple episodes strongly indicates that this storyline is likely to be addressed in season 4.
---
NUMBER TWO: REVISTING REGINALD HARGREEVES' ALIEN ORGINS
WHERE DID REGINALD HARGREEVES COME FROM?
As previously mentioned, the fact that Reginald Hargreeves is actually an alien has already been revealed in the show in season 2, episode 9. With the reveal coming so late in season 2, and season 3 tackling a new intense storyline with the Sparrows, this reveal has largely taken a backseat, but with season 4 likely to focus more on the now-living Reginald and his wife, his alien origins are likely to be further explored and explained.
---
NUMBER ONE: THE LINKS BETWEEN ABIGAIL AND THE POWERED-UP BABIES.
AND THE MARIGOLD PARTICLES
In season 1, Reginald Hargreeves can be seen with the mysterious marigold energy, which is potentially the source of super-powered beings on Earth. These particles are likely to come from Reginald's home world and could be how Reginald and Abigail's species reproduce. Very little is known about their species, so it is conceivable that they have a unique way of breeding. This would explain why Reginald was so determined to track down the children, as well as how the mysterious births of dozens of children all around the world appeared to have occurred simultaneously at random. Potentially with Abigail as their true mother.
---
The show is coming to an end with its upcoming fourth season, and there are a couple of things that need to happen before the series ends. In 2019, Netflix brought Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá's comic book series The Umbrella Academy to life, though with various changes to the characters and their stories, but giving them a much darker and tragic vibe. In three seasons, The Umbrella Academy has seen the title team dealing with three apocalypses, with the final one bringing major consequences not only to them but the world, in general.
At the end of season 3, Allison decided to save her siblings at the last minute and killed Reginald as he reset the timeline, which she ended up finishing. The Hargreeves later found themselves in a completely new timeline where Reginald is alive and the most powerful man in the world, and his wife is also alive and well. In addition to that, Allison got what she wanted with her daughter and her 1960s husband, Ray, being alive, but the rest of the team discovered they no longer had superpowers. Season four has many questions to answer, and there are some things that have to happen in it in order to give the series a satisfying ending.
---
NUMBER NINE: EXPLAIN WHAT THE "JENNIFER INCIDENT" REALLY WAS.
BEN'S DEATH CAUSE HAS BEEN REFERRED TO AS "THE JENNIFER INCIDENT"
One of the biggest mysteries throughout the three seasons of show is what really happened to Ben. When we met the Hargreeves in season 1, Ben was the only one missing as he died years before the events of the series, and only his brother Klaus could see him and talk to him. In season 3, an alternate version of Ben was introduced, and he was alive and well. Throughout the season, the Umbrellas mentioned when referring to Ben's death, so season 4 has to finally explain what really happened to the original Ben, who's Jennifer, and why Sparrow Ben also knows her.
---
NUMBER EIGHT: REVEAL WHY THE HARGREEVES LOST THEIR POWERS.
SEASON 3 ENDED WITH THE POWERLESS HARGREEVES
As mentioned above, when the Hargreeves reunited in the new timeline at the end of season 3, they found out that they had lost their powers, which also meant that Five had his arm again, Diego had his missing fingers, and Luther regained his body. The big mystery, of course, is why they lost their powers, and it's very possible that Reginald wanted it that way when he designed this new timeline seeing that they are less of a threat without their powers and also easier to take out.
It's also to be seen if Allison also lost her powers, as she had a deal with Reginald that could have allowed her to keep her "rumor". Maybe because Reginald want Allison on his side, and therefore he made sure she still had her powers, so she could use them against anyone that is a threat to him, even doing so she could use it against the siblings.
---
NUMBER SEVEN: A LUTHER & SLOANE REUNION
LUTHER & SLOANE GOT MARRIED IN SEASON 3
Throughout the first two seasons, Luther dealt with his feelings for Allison, but in season 3, he was finally able to move on thanks to Sloane one of the members of the Sparrow Academy. Luther and Sloane fell in love and got married amidst the end of the world, but tragedy hit their marriage shortly after. Luther was killed by Reginald in order to set his plan into motion, and though he was brought back in the new timeline, Sloane was nowhere to be found. Both Luther and Sloane deserve a happy ending, and for that, season 4 also has to explain what happened to Sloane.
---
NUMBER SIX: ALLISON PAYING FOR WHAT SHE DID IN SEASON 3.
ALLISON CAUSED A LOT OF PAIN IN SEASON 3
Season 3 saw Allison go from hero to villain as a result of grief. In the Sparrow Academy timeline, Allison's daughter, Claire, didn't existed and that threw her into an abyss of anger and revenge. Allison tried to sexually abuse Luther out of jealousy and later made a deal with Reginald, of which the terms remain unknown. Although she killed Reginald at the end of season 3 and saved her siblings, Allison has to pay for everything she did in season 3, and after that, she can redeem herself.
---
NUMBER FIVE: KLAUS GETTING A HAPPY ENDING
KLAUS HAS STRUGGLED MORE THAN HIS SIBLINGS
Each member of the Umbrella Academy has gone through a lot in all areas of their lives, but one of the most tragic stories is that of Klaus. Due to his powers of summoning the dead and more, Reginald was very strict and cruel to Klaus, locking him in a mausoleum and more, which led Klaus to develop a substance abuse problem. In addition to that, after accidentally traveling back in time in season 1, Klaus fell in love with a soldier, Dave, who was killed in action.
When trapped in the 1960s, Klaus tried to save Dave but he couldn't, and in season 3, he was used and betrayed by Reginald, who left him out of Hotel Oblivion as the world ended, forcing Klaus to kill himself so he could resurrect thanks to his powers. Klaus deserves to get a happy ending in season 4, either by finding love or by overcoming and healing his many traumas.
---
NUMBER FOUR: EXPLAIN WHY FIVE CREATED THE COMMISSION.
SEASON 3 REVEALED FIVE CREATED THE COMMISSION
Among the biggest twists and reveals in season 3 was that Five is the creator of The Commission, the organization he had worked for years to destroy. This reveal came as Five met with his elder, dying self, who warned young Five not to save the world. Season 3 moved on to other things and didn't explore how and why Five founded The Commission, turning it into a mystery that season 4 has to solve.
---
NUMBER THREE: DIEGO & LILA HAVING A FAMILY.
LILA REVEALED SHE WAS PREGNANT IN SEASON 3
Lila Pitts and Diego Hargreeves met in season 2 and started a relationship that has been quite unstable given that Lila wasn't completely honest with Diego and later ran away. The two reconciled in season 3 and Lila revealed she was pregnant with Diego's child. It's unknown if the timeline reset also affected Lila's pregnancy, but at the end of season 3, Diego and Lila left together with the purpose of living their lives now that they are powerless, so hopefully, they will finally have the family none of them really had.
---
NUMBER TWO: EXPLORE THE ORIGINS OF THE MARIGOLDS.
REGINALD USED THE MARIGOLDS TO CREATE HIS SUPERPOWERED TEAMS
In season 1, Reginald was seen releasing various marigolds while his planet was being destroyed and his wife, Abigail, died. It was later confirmed that these marigolds are what gave the Hargreeves their powers and what I can assume made them too, but their exact origin is unknown. The marigolds could be a creation of Reginald or something that could only be found on his home planet, and it's to be seen if these can be key to the Hargreeves regaining their powers in season 4.
---
NUMBER ONE:
THE HARGREEVES FINALLY HAVING SOME PEACE.
THE HARGREEVES CAN'T CATCH A BREAK
The Hargreeves have been through a lot both during and before the events of the show Not only were their births a surprise but they were literally bought by Reginald and raised and trained by him, and he was not a caring and loving father. Every member of the Umbrella Academy has a lot of unresolved trauma that has kept them away from living happy, fulfilling lives, and having to save the world from its destruction more than once hasn't made any of these any easier. After surviving the timeline reset and losing their powers, the least the Umbrella Academy can do is finally grant the Hargreeves (all of them) love and peace, whether with their powers back or without them.
---
HOW WILL THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY END?
The Umbrella Academy introduced the audience to the Hargreeves, seven adopted siblings who were born on the same day, at the same time, and under the same mysterious circumstances as other 36 babies around the world. After learning about this curious event, scientist and billionaire set out to adopt as many of those kids as he could, and with the seven he adopted he created "The Umbrella Academy", as each kid developed unique superpowers. However, the Hargreeves parted ways and reunited years later for Reginald's funeral and to stop the apocalypse, and that was the beginning of a series of problems and three different ends of the world.
After stopping another apocalypse in Dallas, Texas, 1963, the Hargreeves returned to their present year (2019) but were greeted with huge surprises: Reginald was alive, and he created The Sparrow Academy with six other kids and Ben, who is alive and well (though very different) in this timeline. Season 3 saw both teams trying to work together in order to stop another apocalypse caused by the kugelblitz, which in turn was a consequence of the Umbrellas' many changes to the timeline. By the end of season 3, Reginald had reset the timeline but was killed by Allison, and when the team found themselves in this new timeline, they discovered they are now powerless. With season four marking the end of The Umbrella Academy, where will the story go and how will it end?
---
HOW SEASON 3 SET OF THE SHOW'S ENDING
Among the many questions and concerns about season 3 was how the Sparrow and Umbrella teams would get along and if they would join forces at some point, while also wondering if this season was going to face a "too many characters" problem. Season 3 quickly solved these potential issues by gradually getting rid of most of the Sparrow Academy, either by having them consumed by the kugelblitz or killed by Harlan, and by the end of the season, only two Sparrows were left and thus had to join the Umbrella team: Ben and Sloane, the latter becoming Luther's wife in a "wedding at the end of the world". The biggest (though still somewhat expected) twist in season 3, however, was Reginald's betrayal of both teams: he killed Luther, made a deal with an already vulnerable Allison to get both teams to enter Oblivion and thus reset the timeline, and in the process, he earned Klaus' trust only to let him die when the world was about to end.
Reginald's purpose was to use the remaining seven members of the Umbrella/Sparrow Academies to activate the reset of the timeline in Hotel Oblivion and thus create the world he wanted, while not caring what happened to his children. However, after realizing that the process was killing her siblings, Allison killed Reginald and reset the timeline. The current timeline has the surviving Hargreeves now powerless, Sloane missing, Allison reuniting with her daughter and her 1960s husband, Ray, and a city that is now under the control of Reginald, who is now living with his resurrected wife, Abigail. Season 3 saw massive changes to the timeline and the main characters, setting up a major battle between the Hargreeves and Reginald in order to get the answers they are owed and to do one more effort to restore the timeline. Reginald has also reached peak villain status, becoming the actual major threat that the Umbrellas (including Ben, Lila, and Sloane) will have to defeat.
---
WHAT STILL NEEDS TO HAPPEN BEFORE THE SHOW ENDS
The show has left a bunch of unanswered questions since its first season that will have to be answered in the final one. First off, season 4 needs to give a proper explanation of Reginald's plans from the beginning. Reginald was shown with his dying wife, releasing the marigolds, leaving his planet, and arriving at Earth, where he purchased an umbrella manufacturing company, was involved with the Majestic 12, and at some point built Hotel Obsidian/Oblivion around an inter-dimensional door. It's unclear if everything Reginald has done has been with the purpose of resurrecting Abigail, though why he would release 43 marigolds if he only needed seven children is unknown.
Another big mystery that the final season needs to solve is what happened to the original Ben. Season 3 gave more clues about what happened to him when Luther and Klaus mentioned "The Jennifer Incident", and given that Sparrow Ben also knows a Jennifer, of who he has made many, many drawings, all clues point at Umbrella Ben sacrificing himself to save Jennifer, while Sparrow Ben made the opposite decision. Season 4 also has to solve the mystery of what happened to the other marigold children and why, if everyone got superpowers, they aren't widely known. Of course, the upcoming season will have to answer what happened to Sloane, as she was the only surviving Hargreeves that didn't appear in the new timeline.
One big storyline that season 3 completely forgot and the final season must address is the reveal that Five is the founder of The Commission, which makes the show's timeline more confusing than it already is given Five's complicated history with this organization. Last but not least, season 4 has to see the Umbrella Academy, with its new members, working together as a real team in order to stop Reginald and/or whatever massive threat they will encounter, as so far the only time they have worked as a team was in season 2, and even then, the team still felt a bit disjointed.
---
WILL THE TIMELINE BE FIXED IN THE ENDING?
As the show's final season, season four would have to fix the messy timeline that the previous seasons have created, and even more now that Reginald is one if not the most powerful man in the world. Fixing the timeline in season 4 will be more complicated than in season 3, as not only is Reginald in control but Allison finally got what she wanted, and she surely won't give it up. Even if the timeline can't be fixed, the Hargreeves could have the chance of landing in one that benefits them all, just like Allison in the current one, or they could end up in different timelines that give them what they need, thus putting a definitive end to the Umbrella Academy.
The season might end with each other siblings in each different timelines where they each have a happy life. That happy life/Ending they deserve.
---
IS REGINALD GOING TO DIE IN THE ENDING? WILL THE OTHERS?
With Reginald placing himself as the ultimate villain in The Umbrella Academy, one of the biggest questions around the end of the series is if Reginald will die. The previous antagonists in The Umbrella Academy have met their fate one way or another Leonard Peabody and The Handler – so it would make sense that the same happened to Reginald in the final season, more so as he has already proved he can't be redeemed. As for the possible deaths of the Hargreeves, at this point, the ones with the biggest chances of dying in the show's final season are Allison, Luther, Five, Diego and Klaus. Allison could find her redemption by sacrificing herself to save the team, Five has already been close to dying a couple of times and this might be the one where he can't cheat death, Luther could be the one who sacrifices himself so his wife and siblings can live (thus living up to his place as the team's Number 1), Diego could also be the one that could sacrifice himself in order to be a hero, and Klaus now powerless and always finding himself in life or death situations, could also meet his end.
---
CAN THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY HAVE A HAPPY ENDING?
The Umbrella Academy hasn't caught a break in years, even before the events of season 1. As Reginald wasn't a good father, the Hargreeves grew up with a lot of trauma that ultimately led them to part ways, with Luther being the only one who stayed with Reginald. Most of the Hargreeves seemed to have found their happy places when they were scattered in the 1960s, but they had to abandon all that in order to save the world once again. The Umbrella Academy, then, deserve their happy ending, but if they are going to fight their powerful father, there might be some tragedy in exchange for their happy ending. With no more comic book material that can hint at the future of the Umbrella Academy, season 4 can go in any direction in order to bring the story of the Hargreeves to an end, but what's for sure is that they all deserve a good ending.
---
THE TITLES
The titles for the episodes of season 4 have been revealed, and though they don't give any plot details away, one might confirm a long-running theory about how the show will end. Despite getting positive reviews from critics and being well-received by general audiences, the show is ending with its fourth season, and it has a lot of mysteries and questions to solve and answer. Season 3 left us with a major cliffhanger, and it's unknown what the Hargreeves will do to return to their correct timeline.
Season 3 ended with Reginald's designed timeline becoming a reality, in which he and his wife are alive, Sloane is missing, Allison has the family she wanted, and all the Hargreeves (and Lila) are powerless. The first teaser trailer for season four shows the Hargreeves will part ways but eventually team up again, though what their "rescue mission" will be is currently unknown. Plot details about season 4 continue to be unknown, but one episode title hints at a popular theory about how the show will end.
---
HOW SEASON FOUR EPISODE TITLES SUGGEST THE ENDING WILL RETURN TO SEASON ONE.
THE UMBRELLA ADCADEMY MIGHT END UP BACK WHERE THEY BEGAN.
Although the titles of the episodes of season four aren't spoilers, nor do they give anything away about the plot, they do offer a couple of clues about where the Hargreeves will go. Season 4 will be the show's shortest season with just six episodes, and the final episode is raising some questions. The final episode is titled "End of the Beginning", which, along with Cha-Cha's unmistakable pink bear mask, is further fueling the belief that season 4 will take the Hargreeves back to season 1.
Despite already having three seasons, there's a lot about the universe that is unknown to us. Perhaps the biggest questions about the world of The Umbrella Academy are all about time travel and the presence of a multiverse, along with the potential dangers of the latter. It could be that the Hargreeves' only solution to fix the timeline and return to their rightful one is to go back to the events of season 1 – after all, that's their original timeline.
---
THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY STOPPING SEASON ONE'S APOCALYPSE MAKES SENSE AS AN ENDING.
THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY FAILED TO STOP THE FIRST APOCALYPSE
The main challenge faces by taking the Hargreeves back to season 1 is the apocalypse. In season 1, the Hargreeves' mission was to stop the end of the world, but to their surprise, it was Viktor and his then out-of-control powers that triggered the apocalypse. The team had no choice but to jump back in time to save themselves, and they ended up in different years in the 1960s. The Hargreeves know they failed but are also now more knowledgeable and wiser, so if they go back to season 1, they could finally stop the apocalypse.
It would be a sort of "full circle" moment for the Hargreeves, as the apocalypse triggered by Viktor is what kicked off the whole series and thus brought so many issues to all of them – but it's also what brought them all together again. By stopping the first apocalypse, the Hargreeves could finally move on with their lives in their correct timeline, thus giving them proper closure and allowing them to fix one of their biggest failures.
