"Ella es mi sol."
A/N: Before we start with the chapter, I want to give a shoutout to @inadaiis. Her story yin and yang is literally my favorite Bad Bunny FanFiction! Also in her story Benito calls the girl mi sol, which inspired me for this chapter! Enjoy reading!
Benito
I wanted Casey to meet my parents which is why I had invited them to visit me in LA. I was going to stay there for another two weeks. Everything was going good between Casey and me; we had sorted out everything and I had even talked to Lucas a couple of times, when I had picked her up from work. Also I had went on a double date with my girlfriend, him and his fiancé Caroline. In the moment he had introduced her to me, I had felt incredibly stupid. Apparently Casey hadn't told him anything about our fight and if she had, he hadn't shown it. He was protective when it came to my girlfriend, that's what she had told me, and I had expected him to be mad at me, but he had been extremely polite. Much to my surprise, he was nice and overall a good company. I even started liking him and didn't mind Casey spending time with him. After all, Pablo had been right about them just being friends.
At around four, my parents and brothers landed at LAX. Luis was going to pick them up and bring them to their hotel. My mother had insisted on cooking for all of us, including Casey. I was a little nervous, when I brushed my teeth. It was the first time in almost three years that my parents were going to meet a girlfriend of mine. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't worried about them not liking her - I knew they were going to love her -, I was worried that they were going to scare her away. My parents were masters of interviewing the girls I brought home which is why I hadn't done so with my last ex-girlfriend. Sighing, sat down on my couch, waiting for the doorbell to ring. Casey was supposed to come over after work to have dinner with us. Out of boredom, I went on Instagram and checked my feed. Right when I was watching a video, the doorbell rang. Immediately, I got up from the couch, went to the door and opened the front door for my parents and brothers. I could already hear them talk before I even opened the door to my apartment. "¡Hola, mi armor!" my mother greeted me, pulling me into a hug. "¡Hola, mama!" I replied, returning the hug. After that I also greeted my father and my brothers - also with a hug. "¡Adelante!" I said, before leading them into the apartment. "¿Cómo estás?" my father asked, when we had all sat down in my living room. "Muy bien. ¿Y tú?" I answered, smiling at him. "También." my father said, nodding. "¿Queréis algo de beber?" I wanted to know as I got up from the couch. "Puedo hacer café." I added, walking over to the open kitchen. My family members nodded in agreement.
When everyone had a cup a coffee, I sat down on the couch next to Bernie. "Háblanos de tu novia." my mother started, after taking a sip from her cup. I had told my parents that I had a girlfriend, but I hadn't told them anything else. "Se llama Casey, tiene 22 años y ella es mi sol." I answered. I never knew what else to tell them, except for her name, her age and what she meant to me. "Cuándo vamos a conocerla?" my dad then wanted to know. "Esta tarde." I replied, grabbing my cup of coffee. "Espero que sea agradable." Mom then said. She had never liked any of my ex-girlfriends and had always said that they had been rude. "¡Es muy simpática! Pero no habla español." Bernie told her. "¿No habla español?" Dad asked confused. "No, pero está aprendiendo." I answered, thinking about some of our phone calls where she would try and tell me how her day went in Spanish. "Estoy entusiasmada por esta tarde." Mom commented, looking at me. "Le gustará su, prometo." I calmed her down.
At around eight, my Mom was standing in my kitchen, finishing dinner, when the doorbell rang. My father, my brothers and I were watching soccer on TV. I got up from the couch to open the door. Casey greeted me with a sweet and short kiss and then followed me into the living room. She was nervous - I could tell by the way she was gripping onto the handle of her handbag -, but greeted everyone with a sweet smile and a shy 'Hola'. Bernie and Bysael both got up from the couch and walked up to her. Since they knew her, they greeted her by giving her a hug and a kiss on each cheek. My father also got up and held his hand out to introduce himself. Casey shook it, smiling at my dad. Mom put the spoon she was stirring something with down and also walked up to her. "La comida está lista." she then said, smiling at all of us. "Do your parents speak English?" Casey whispered at me as we walked over to my dining table. My facial expression showed her that my parents did speak English, but it was not very good and they most of the time refused to. "Don't worry, I'll translate for you." I calmed her down, when she stared at me in shock. We sat down at the dining table - my mother next to my brothers, my father next to Casey and me. "We're gonna pray before eating." I informed my girlfriend. She nodded and followed my actions. Since she was not very religious, it was a little odd to her, but she had told me multiple times that she didn't mind that I was religious. After praying, we started putting food on our plates. Mom had made rice with pigeon peas and ham called Arroz Con Gandules - one of my favorite foods from Puerto Rico. While we were eating, my parents started to ask Casey questions like she was from, what she was doing for a living and how we got to know each other. She tried to understand and answer in Spanish, but sometimes she looked at me, so I would help her out. I had the feeling that my parents liked her because my mother even offered her some homemade liquor she had brought - she only does that with people she finds nice. By the time Casey left, they already shared some good laughs. "¡Ella es tan bonita y muy educada! Ella me gusta." Mom told me, while we were washing the dishes. "Me alegro de que le guste." I answered, handing her a wet plate. She gave me a smile and started drying the plate.
