The next morning came without any faults, it was peaceful, with the birds chirping in the background and the sun shining.

Naruto yawned and took the blanket off him.

'So Tired... Oh... My... God...' He thought to himself.

Cracking his neck contently, he got up and started to get ready for the day.

There were no missions, but Kakashi told them to meet by the bridge for something that he wouldn't tell them about.

‘Chuunin Exams, duh.’ Naruto thought, shaking his head, it was so obvious that he was going to recommend them. And Naruto would have to beat every person there and become a Chuunin, it would be the first step to his dream of becoming Hokage.

As Naruto looked out of the open window, he saw little specks of sand around the window sill, he walked forward and picked up the sand.

‘Gaara’s sand, guess he paid me a visit last night while I was sleeping, huh, how strange.’ He thought. He dropped the sand and put on the rest of his clothes and brushed his teeth. After that he studied a scroll he had in his apartment.

By time he was done it was 1 o’clock in the afternoon and he casually stepped out of his apartment, locking the door and grinning, “Now let’s get the Chuunin Exam application!” Jogging out of the complex he started to run through the village, ignoring all the hate filled glares which were sent his way.

‘Some day I’m going to save you all, you wouldn’t hate me then would you?’ Naruto thought with an eye roll.

“Naruto!” He heard, he blinked and faced Kakashi, Sakura and Sasuke.

‘Arrived already? Okay then…’ He thought.

“Morning guys.” He greeted.

“Morning…” They all said at different times.

Kakashi faced the three Genins, “Well, the time has come, for me to give you these.” He gave them all a piece of paper.

‘Knew it.’ Naruto thought.

Sasuke smirked, ‘Finally.’

Sakura blinked, ‘Ah.’

Kakashi smiled, “But you don’t have to go if you don’t want to, you can enter individually. It’s your choice.” He held his hand up and waved. “Bye now!”

He vanished and left the three genins to their thoughts.

‘I am definitely entering. Obviously.’ Sasuke thought.

‘This is getting signed, hell yes ‘ttebayo.’ Naruto thought, then cursed, ‘Why am I saying ‘ttebayo again? Damn it.’

Sakura bit her lip, ‘Am I prepared for this? Well…’

Naruto smiled and glanced at his teammates, “Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m gonna sign this.” He looked at Sakura’s uncertain face, “You can too Sakura, trust me.”

She nodded slowly, Sasuke looked at her, “Yeah, since you aren’t a fangirl, you have the opportunity to actually train, I suggest you prep up, and so will Naruto and I.”

Naruto nodded, “Sasuke’s right, this will probably be tough, so we should get ready.” Sasuke nodded, agreeing with him.

Sakura looked at them, “You’re right, we can do this, because I think Kakashi-sensei was lying about it being individual anyway, I haven’t ever heard of someone doing the Chuunin Exams alone. And I noticed his chakra change slightly when he said that, it means he’s lying.”

Naruto grinned, “See, you already have an ability that Sasuke and I don’t have. Good job Sakura-chan.” Sakura blushed.

Sasuke crossed his arms, “I could probably do it too Naruto…”

Naruto smirked and nodded sarcastically at him, “Of course you could Sasu-kun, I don’t doubt you.”

Sasuke rolled his eyes and Sakura laughed.

Sakura smiled, “Well, I gotta get going and show my parents this, I guess I’ll see you guys later?”

They nodded, “Yeah, bye Sakura.”

As Sakura left, Sasuke faced Naruto.

“Unfortunately, I have to leave too, but we’ll meet up later or something yeah?” He asked uncertainly.

Naruto blushed and nodded, “Y-Yeah…”

He watched Sasuke leave and his lips curled up into a grin as he fistpumped, “Yes!”

Suddenly, Naruto felt a familiar chakra signature, but not of Sasuke, Sakura or Kakashi, he just couldn’t quite place it…

“Back away from the Chuunin Exams right now!” He heard a voice.

Naruto turned around and saw a foreign ninja pointing at him.

‘Seriously? He thinks that’s gonna make me back out? Totally wrong…’ He thought with a smirk.

“And what if I don’t?” He laughed.

The ninja glared at him, “I will make you.”

The ninja then appeared right beside him as Naruto blinked, the ninja swung his fist at Naruto but Naruto narrowly dodged and grabbed his fist, throwing him over his shoulder and placing his foot on top of him.

“You’re good.” The ninja commented.

Naruto smiled, “I know.”

“But not good enough!” Naruto widened his eyes as his foot was on top of a log.

“Substitution.” Naruto hissed in annoyance.

His surroundings were empty, he looked around, but saw no one, Naruto exhaled and shut his eyes.

‘Widen out my perimeter, notice small movements, track down, concentrate…’ He thought.

No-one actually noticed, but Naruto was mostly a sensory-type ninja, he could track chakra signatures, he didn’t know how he could, but he felt that he was a natural at it.

(IT’S BECAUSE MOST UZUMAKI CLAN MEMBERS WERE SENSORY-TYPE NINJA TOO)

Suddenly, he noticed a tiny movement in his perimeter, he snapped open his eyes and took out five kunai’s.

‘He couldn’t have found out right…? He’s bluffing!’ The ninja thought.

Naruto threw the five kunai’s in different directions.

The ninja sighed, ‘I knew it…’

Naruto smirked and held his hands up in a hand sign, “Five-Sided Pentagon seal.” He felt a large amount of his chakra vanish as he heard a yell of surprise.

The ninja was thrown onto the ground in front of him by invisible ropes, he looked up at him in surprise.

Naruto looked down at him, “I thought you trusted me, I thought you believed in me.” The ninja’s eyes widened, “Iruka-sensei.”

The disguise vanished and left Iruka staring at Naruto.

“Naruto… I just had to make sure you were ready!” Iruka reasoned.

Naruto shook his head, turned and walking away.

“Naruto! NARUTO!” Iruka yelled.

Naruto stopped and turned his head, “Oh yeah.” He clicked his fingers and the seal disappeared, leaving Iruka slumped on the ground with his eyes staring at Naruto in sadness.

Iruka swallowed a lump in his throat as he shunshinned onto a rooftop.

“I understand that they all passed.” Kakashi asked him.

Iruka nodded, “Yes, and Naruto… He was the most amazing.”

Kakashi turned to look at him, “How so?”

Iruka smiled sadly, “He knew who I was, he… he… Used a seal against me, a high level one.”

Kakashi’s eyes widened, “What… Kind of seal…?”

Iruka looked up at him, “I believe he said ‘five-sided pentagon seal. He’s becoming more like his father every day, and he knew where I was, he is a sensory-type ninja, like his mother.”

Kakashi looked into the sky, “He’s growing up fast.”

Iruka nodded, “Yes. Yes he is.”

Naruto sighed, lying on the ground of his apartment, he knew that Iruka-sensei thought he was still just a child,

But being a ninja changed him immensely.

Having a relationship with Sasuke changed him

Life on a whole changed him.

He wasn’t as stupid as most people thought he was anymore, he had skills, good skills.

He looked at the opened up scroll in his hands.

“Thank kami I read this yesterday and found out how to do the Five-Sided Pentagon Seal, or I would have been dead.” He said to himself quietly.

After the fight with Iruka, he just wandered the village aimlessly, for a couple of hours, he didn’t know how long, but when he got home it was already 6 o’clock in the afternoon.

Now it was 6:45, and Naruto got up, looking out of the window.

‘It’s time.’ He thought.

He took off his jacket and just left the apartment in a fishnet shirt and his orange trousers, locking the door, he made his way to the Hokage Mountain.

Once he got there, he noticed that Gaara was already there.

“Uzumaki Naruto.” Gaara greeted without turning around.

Naruto inclined his head, “Gaara.” He greeted.

Gaara turned around, “How?”

Naruto blinked, “How what?”

Gaara looked at Naruto, “How are you not like me?”

Naruto smiled sadly and sat down, he patted the area next to him, motioning Gaara to sit beside him, the red-head hesitantly sat down next to Naruto.

“Because Gaara, Konoha had good Seal Masters, unlike in Suna.” Naruto started.

“But the Shukaku was sealed in me by the best Seal Master in my village.” Gaara said confused.

Naruto sighed, “My point exactly. Suna has terrible Seal Masters, your best was our worst, and for them to seal a biju in you with that level of fuunjutsu, it’s terrible.”

Gaara looked down, “So Kyuubi was sealed by a good Seal Master while mine wasn’t, and that’s why you aren’t like me?”

Naruto smiled, Gaara looked a bit childish, like a child trying to understand algebra, and it was rather cute. Naruto caught his thoughts a shook his head and sighed.

“Yes, Kyuubi was sealed by the Yondaime Hokage, the best Seal Master in our village at that time, my seal is tighter than yours, which makes it difficult for even the Kyuubi to try and do anything to me.” Naruto summed up.

Gaara nodded, “Interesting…”

Naruto shrugged, “I guess.”

Gaara looked at Naruto and held his hand up and reached for Naruto’s face.

“G-Gaara?” Naruto’s eyes widened as Gaara grabbed Naruto’s cheek. “What are you doing?”

Gaara poked Naruto’s cheek, “Whiskers.”

Naruto blinked, “Huh?”

“You have whiskers.” Gaara said again.

Naruto paused and then laughed, “Oh yeah I do, it’s the only thing I have symbolising I have the Fuzzy.”

“Fuzzy?” Gaara asked.

Naruto shrugged, “It’s what I call Kyuubi sometimes.”

Gaara nodded and took his hand away from Naruto’s face.

Naruto looked at Gaara, “Wait, what’s with the dark circles around your eyes?”

Gaara looked over the village, “I can’t sleep, Shukaku will get out, so I don’t sleep.”

Naruto’s mouth hung open slightly, “I-Is Shukaku talking to you right now?”

Gaara shook his head, “He’s afraid of Kyuubi.”

Naruto smirked, “Then how about you stay over at my house today? You can sleep then, and Shukaku won’t come out because he’s afraid of Fuzzy.”

Gaara swallowed, “R-Really? You’re not afraid of me?”

Naruto blinked, “I’m talking to you right now right? Why would I be afraid? You’re just like me, we’re brothers in a way.”

Gaara nodded slowly, “If you don’t mind…”

Naruto laughed, “I offered right? Of course I don’t mind!”

After about 2 hours or so of talking about their villages, Naruto decided that it was time to leave.

Naruto stood up and brushed the dust off of him, Gaara looked up at him with teal coloured eyes. Naruto noticed this and he smiled, holding out his hand at Gaara.

Gaara looked at the hand and slowly held it, Naruto pulled Gaara up and grinned, “Come on then.”

Gaara nodded, “Okay.”

They walked back to Naruto’s apartment and Naruto apologised for any mess in the house, although there was none. Naruto was actually a neat person.

Naruto opened the door and let Gaara in, the red-head was surprised how clean it was, only a few scrolls on the ground, Naruto put a hand to his chin.

“Since I don’t have a mattresses for guests, you can just sleep in my bed with me.” Naruto said casually.

Gaara blinked, Temari always said that you share a bed with someone you love.

He looked up at Naruto as the blonde got the bed ready.

Did he love Naruto?

Well, he certainly didn’t feel like this with anyone else, besides Naruto, so yeah, Gaara just decided that it was love.

“Come on Gaara! Go brush your teeth!” Naruto scolded.

Gaara blinked, “O-Okay…” He watched Naruto brush his teeth and did the same with a spare toothbrush that Naruto had, when they were done, Naruto gave Gaara some clothes for sleeping and Gaara got changed.

“Gya! Gaara!” Naruto covered his eyes.

Gaara blinked, “What?”

Naruto face went red, “Some decency! Please! Don’t just get changed in front of me!”

Gaara blinked, “But we’re both male, I thought there wasn’t anything wrong with that.”

Naruto put down his hands, “Ah, there is that argument, okay, pretend I didn’t say anything then.”

Gaara shrugged and continued changing, Naruto just changed quickly.

“Sleep sleep sleep~” Naruto chanted.

He jumped into the bed and saw Gaara just stare awkwardly, Naruto laughed and pulled Gaara into the bed.

“Omph!” Gaara landed on the bed and blinked, “Naruto…”

Naruto grinned, “You can sleep now~”

Gaara sighed and lay straight on the bed, watching Naruto shutting his eyes and drifting off to sleep.

“Good night Gaara…” Naruto whispered.

Gaara’s lips twitched upwards as he whispered back, “Good night… Naruto…”
