INT. F&B GARAGE – DAY
Abram wipes down the seats of the truck. Candice is sitting at her desk doing Econ homework. Abram finishes up.
ABRAM
Are you grading me?
CANDICE
Not yet.
She puts her work down and walks over. Inspects the interior of the car.
CANDICE (CONT'D)
Did you wipe down the door panels? The vents? The steering wheel?
ABRAM
Who's driving this thing, President Barack Obama?
CANDICE
We provide the best care for each and every customer. It's what they pay for. This one needs to be finished by the end of the day, so you might want to speed it up.
She goes over to the shelves and grabs more tools and supplies. Hands them to him.
CANDICE
Points off for complaining.
Abram's iritated now. Starts wiping down the doors. Candice sits back in her seat and they both get back to work.
CANDICE (CON'D)
You make someone mad or something?
Abram looks up at her. Confused.
CANDICE (CONT'D)
Your eye.
ABRAM
Part of the job.
CANDICE
You don't look that bad. You must be good at it. Is that what you want to do for a living?
ABRAM
Not if I don't have to. What about you?
CANDICE
You're looking at it...
ABRAM
That doesn't sound too convincing.
CANDICE
My dad owns this place. The plan is for me to take over the family business.
ABRAM
In a perfect world, what would your plan be? You can't be daddy's little girl forever.
Candice gives him a look, but humors him.
CANDICE
I have this dream of cashing in for a bike. Traveling across the country. Why stick around in one place when there's so much more out there. But the deed's already been done. I'll start school in the fall and I'll forget all about the dream.
ABRAM
So you'd rather suffocate in someone else's fantasy than stand up to your parents? It's your life. You can do whatever you want.
CANDICE
It's not that simple. If it were, you wouldn't be here. This way, my future's all set. If I jump the track, who knows where I'd end up.
ABRAM
You could be happy. Sometimes, that's all a parent wants for their kid. That's why I'm here.
