INT. AUDITORIUM – NIGHT

Mannie is out in the audience starting an arm wave that ripples through the crowd. When it comes back, he finishes it off with some extra moves and gives them a thumbs up before returning to the stage.

MR. EDWARDS

Are you guys having a great time tonight?

The audience cheers.

MR. EDWARDS (CONT'D)

Please give it up for our next performers Out of Order.

Nikki and Jeff appear on stage to a welcoming response. Nikki takes her place behind the microphone and Jeff picks up his guitar. They look at each other. Jeff shrugs. The show must go on. They start.

In the back of the auditorium, Tristen records, but he's confused. Where's Abram?

A few measures later, Abram and Flynn join them on stage and they kick it up a notch. This lights a spark in the band. They're going for it. The crowd's rocking out. Abram takes it all in. Go figure.

They finish the song to rousing applause. The band smiles at each other, riding the adrenaline rush. Abram finds Torie in the crowd. She gives him a thumbs up.

PRE-LAP:

"Baby One More Time" by Britney spears is playing.

SERIES OF SHOTS:

STAGE

Clarke and the cheerleaders perform a routine incorporating karate. Flynn's sitting with his band in the audience.

FLYNN

Go Clarke!

Abram gets a kick out of this.

STAGE

"Hold On, We're Going Home" by Drake is playing. There's a mini ramp and a skate rail on stage. Josh rides in on his skateboard. He's wobbly, careful.

JOSH

High school is lot like skateboarding. Freshman year, you're stumbling, trying to maintain your balance. Hoping to make it through without too much damage.

He loses his footing and stumbles off his board.

JOSH (CONT'D)

Scary.

He hops back on and rolls off the stage. He glides back onstage, confident now. Swerving.

JOSH (CONT'D)

Sophmore year, you're cruising. You've got more control now. You think you've got the hang of it, but you still got a lot to learn.

He disappears offstage. Returns doing tricks and grinding off on the rail.

JOSH (CONT'D)

Junior year, you are now an upperclassman. You've learned a few tricks. You've got some bumps and bruises under your belt. Battle scars. But you know the drill. You know how to brush yourself off and get back up.

Disappears. He reappears and rides up the ramp. Stops at the edge and looks out.

JOSH (CONT'D)

It's Senior year. It's bigger, tougher. But you've come this far, there's no turning back. At the end of that leap, you'll be soaring off into the real world believing that the sky is the limit.

He takes off down the ramp and performs a chain of cool tricks, wowing the crowd. In the audience, Brandy is thrilled.

BRANDY

My baby's so talented.

STAGE

Eric settles in at a piano. Clears his throat. Plays "Für Elise." Then he starts beatboxing to the music, the crowd grooving with him.

He stops playing the piano and just beatboxes. Snares mimic him offstage. Eric beatboxes again. Snares echo him again. Eric beatboxes and the snares join him as Tristen appears on stage exciting the crowd. Eric nods to the beat, feeling it. He goes back to the piano and they jump into "Lean Wit It Rock Wit It" by Dem Franchize Boyz. The crowd goes wild. They transition into "Delimma" by Nelly featuring Kelly Rowland. The crowd sings along. They finish off with "Live Your Life" by T.I. featuring Rihanna. The crowd is up on their feet partying.
