EXT. STREETS – DAY

Abram's walking the streets with bags of groceries. A car pulls up on side of him. It's Mateo, 19,(hustler,ambitious,misled big brother). Follows Abram as he walks. Not someone Abram wants to see right now.

MATEO

Yo, look who it is. Long time no see. What happened to your ride?

Abram holds up his bags.

ABRAM

You're looking at it.

MATEO

That's too bad. Get in. I'll drop you off.

ABRAM

I'm good.

MATEO

I'm clean. I promise.

Abram gives him a look. It's not happening.

ABRAM

I'm good.

MATEO

I can see you're still hung up on the past? I know how to make it up to you. I got connections with some guys running a circuit underground. It's easy money. A lot of money. I can help you out.

Abram stops walking. He's listening. Mateo stops the car.

MATEO (CONT'D)

You still got your gloves?

ABRAM

I do.

MATEO

Abram hesitates. This is what it's come down to. He gets in. They drive off.
