House of Cards

It all started with a picture..

I had been consumed in its beauty.

The frame,

the paint,

the colors.

Without realising it, I had my whole life consumed here.

In this picture.

It was what I had invested my time in.

And it ate up my soul..

I reached out to it,

The picture..

And found myself living in the beautiful memory.

The memory of freedom.

It had been a quiet place of nature.

Calm waters,

Tall trees

And

My creativity.

I was able to do as I felt there, but I could never bring myself to move. The time flew by.

Day turned into night.

And night turned into day.

I knew that I was my only escape.

Then suddenly..

Lie.....

My eyes opened and I parted from the picture.

Lie.....

I followed the voice to the room where I bathe. The room whose walls are blue.

Jimin..

I looked up and there he was. My doppelganger had returned to me.

You wish to be free?

Or to stay bound?

I looked down. And in the water, I could see nothing. The waters were covered in the image of the painting.

Yes.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

Jimin.. This is your truth.

I felt a push and my body falling. I knew that I was coming to reality.

I arose in my bed and looked around. I was in my old room.

One bed.

One way out.

Look for it.. Find your freedom..

I got up and began walking. Searching for what I knew had always been there.

I looked out of the window.
It was still too high for me to escape.

I looked at the camera.
It meant nothing to me.

I looked at the picture and saw him standing there..
Pointing..
But still as stiff as the picture.

I looked where he was pointing and followed it all the way down to the big room where I would have encountered the rest of them if this were the palace and went to the door that would've lead me to the dinner table.

I paused as I clutched the handle.

Did I really want to be free? Or was this truly my reality?

Instead of darkness, there was light.
A light that blinded me so that I had to cover them. I slowly uncovered them and saw all the colors that I have seen and even colors that I have never seen. I sauntered through the field and began to smile as I approached a well. The sun baked through my clothes and caused me to fall in a pool of sweat in the grass, next to the well.

Relaxing in the Sun's sweet kisses, I opened my eyes.

I felt something drawing me towards the well. The world began to shake as I stood.

The colors fading into grey.

The sun no longer shining.

The sky no longer blue.

Everything was fading into darkness and the only thing I had left was the well.

I looked down at it to see..

Me..

A peaceful version of me.

I was laying in a bed.

I wasn't asleep.

Nor was I awake.

I was there,

Blankly staring at something.

What it was,

I couldn't tell..

Jimin..

I turned around and there he stood again. His smile turned into a straight face and I knew that he was going to turn against me.

I shook my head no.

Constantly.

Repetitiously.

I was trapped and this time,

There was no way out.

I felt rush of the wind as he reached out for me. My body, limp with fear, was held as his eyes pierced through mine before letting go.

I sat up in a pool of sweat. Looking around, I saw them. The cards I had seen before sat perfectly on the floor.

The rich blue carpet was covered in clothes, cups, plates, paint and glitter everywhere.

I got up and followed the mess to a door.

A white door..

The seemed to have noise coming from it.

Confused and still groggy, I opened the door to see lights, smoke and people sleeping to the sound of music playing in the background.
I looked closely at their faces and then went to go get the cards.

I placed them as I saw fit. But I still had one card to give. I turned around to come face to face with Jin. He held a pan of baked food on it.

"Are they still asleep?" He asked.

I blinked and then nodded with a smile. "Yeah."
