Hope

I came back to the room and decided to be smart about my next decision.

I have decided to take all of you into separate rooms so that no one knows who is going next or who will be chosen.

I snapped my fingers and they all disappeared. I stood there for a while thinking about who I should go to first..

Agust D

Or

Ho-seok?

I breathed in deeply before nodding and snapping my fingers. I slowly looked up from where I stood and saw him standing there..

Smiling..

"So. Am I the one to become Heto?" Then he stopped smiling and his voice became very dark as his eyes pierced my soul. "Or are you here for my soul?" I felt myself wanting to be afraid, but I could never become what I once was. Not now. I shoved my hand towards him and watched him fall as I took my seat.

"I see." He nodded. "I was never full of hope. That was just what was expected of me. Everything I ever wanted to be.. was taken from me from the very beginning. I never had any happiness. Except for one.."

I could see his eyes burning through me in my head, yet he wasn't looking at me. He seemed to be in my head.

"Mama." I then became apart of his world and began to see it as he had once saw it. He was painting a picture as a woman came in with a face that resembled her son's. Timeless, ageless and full of inner strength, the beautiful woman smiled with dignity. Her gaze was fulfillment. Her grining, a home coming. Silently, I stretch my arms out to her.
"Mama!" The smile that could heal a thousand hearts accompanied Ho-seok with a tight hug. When they pulled away from the hug, he adorned her where her face was blackened. She moved his hands and put on her best smile for him. "I'm okay. Mommy's fine, okay Ho-seok?" He could see the tear about to escape from her eye and balled up his fist behind his back. "It's okay, mama." She nodded and that night, as everyone slept, Ho-seok devised a plan and went forth with it. He crept up to his mama's room and approached the side where the man was sleeping. There, he put tape over his mouth and slit his throat. Then he taped his throat so that he could suffocate on his own blood.

In the morning, there were no screams. Just a gentle shake. "Ho-seok.." Min Yoongi said. When Ho-seok turned over, the blade and tape fell out of his grip. Min Yoongi, in horror, flung the covers back and saw the blood stains in the sheets and began to breathe heavily. He ran his fingers through his hair and quickly hugged him. "Ho-seok, go wash up. I'll change your sheets and Mama will be up in a little bit. Okay?" "Okay." He nodded and went. Afterwards, he went back to his painting and continued to paint. But in a container, he pulled out a crimson liquid. It was too thin to be paint and smelled of copper.

Ho-seok smiled.

This was the blood of his first culprit.

You see.. She was never really my birth mother. But she was all I had. I never wanted to lose her. And that man had to be eliminated. Min Yoongi is my foster brother, but he loved me like a real one. I never meant to involve him in my mess. But that night.. When he left me.. I no longer had to pretend.

There was a flash and then darkness. Creaking noises and crying. I saw Ho-seok laying on the floor with a blank expression. His clothes, grey and covered in holes. He approached a mirror and inspected his face. I was looking for reflections of her. To see if I was in her. If I resembled her. But I no longer recognized myself and therefore became heartless. To ignore my pain, I took my pills.. All my pills..

I witnessed him emptying all the pills into the sink and overdosing on them.

My eyes went to sleep, but my body woke up. And when I had, I found that everyone had been slain and that I could go free. I had killed them all. I walked until I had passed out, searching for her. Although, I knew I had killed her doppelganger. The doppelganger was the reason why Min Yoongi and I were in that place. She called them. I killed her. We ran away. They caught us.

His eyes softened as he remembered everything. "I was never the same. But I have always known what I have done."

Get up.

He faced me and I covered my eyes. When I had uncovered them, he stood in a white room. No windows. One door. One light. I let him walk out the door and we both froze.

I saw my picture..

And he saw his.

Smiling, he left and I watched him fall down the white hole. His smile haunted me. It was so easy to trust his reassuring smile. But in his eyes, you could just barely tell that something else was there.

Something..

Evil..

I looked forward. There was the picture. Painted with blood and other colors of her and him.

Together..
