Bitter Stranger
I turned around and saw a different man standing in the doorway. I blinked. I had never seen another color besides the picture and my food. He mainly was wearing all black, but I noticed that he had two shirts on. One was tan and the one sitting underneath it was blue. His shoes were also black, but had a red streak on the sides of them. "I said come on." Although he may have looked like a kid, he had the attitude and voice of a man. I got up and followed this new stranger through the halls of the palace and into another room.
The room looked exactly like the one I had just left, but it only had one bed centered and nothing else. "Stay here. I'll be right back." He said before turning away from me to leave the room. I didn't bother going against his words. His stern voice was enough to give me a taste of what would occur if I didn't do as he said. He returned just as quickly as he had left the room and placed some clothes onto my bed. "Here. Put these on, then meet us in the room." "What room?" I asked as he was leaving. "You'll know which one to go to." Then he disappeared. I looked around my new room and sighed.
My eyes then traveled over to the clothes that were sitting right beside me and my curiosity grew. How did they know what clothes I would wear? And when he said 'we', does that mean that there are more of them? I don't understand what this means.. But I guess I'll never figure it out unless I go for it.. I sighed as I began to slip on the clothes. As I slipped into the new clothes, I felt something wash over me. It was a familiar feeling and I couldn't quite identify why I felt this familiarity while putting on these clothes.
Once I slid on my shoes, I began my walk around this new palace and for some odd reason, I knew where to go. My feet began to take turns, twists and spins that eventually led me into a room that was splashed with so much color and had a single mirror in the room. I found myself standing in front of the mirror and just staring into it, but nothing appeared inside of it. I touched it, but I didn't go through it. I didn't understand what I was supposed to do. So I kept walking forward into another big, colorful room.
I stood in the middle of the room for a moment and after a moment of silence, I felt a presence. "So, I see you found your way." I turned around and there he was, leaning up against the doorway, legs crossed at his ankles and a lighter in his hand. His head was down, creating a shade for his face. Although his face stayed snow white, you could see the aura of his death dust swarming around him. His face was so white, it almost glowed. "Yeah.. Who is 'we'?" I questioned. He finally looked up at me, putting the fire out with one swift motion of his hand and vanished into the thin of air, reappearing at my side.
He gave me a hard stare and that made my stomach clench up on the inside. I could see images of fire in his eyes and dead leaves scattered about the room. He blinked and the scene changed to what looked like an asylum. There was someone sitting in a bed with a straitjacket on and they looked directly at me. He blinked once more before standing up straight and turning away from me. He looked up to the ceiling and raised his arms. Right then and there is when I knew that there were more than just the ones I had already met.
I felt the rush of the wind fill the room and swarm around us as all the doors closed. When the wind went away, he stood in the silence with his arms still raised and then turned his hands inward before slowly bringing them down. I heard footsteps and my eyes darted towards the sound. There was no sound for a moment and after a moment, the footsteps stopped. I looked back at the man who had just summoned all the others and I realized that he was in his own little world because he was looking closely at his hands.
"What's your name?" I asked him. His eyes glared into mine and his voice became slightly darker. "That doesn't matter." "With a name like yours, you still act bitter." A voice said, emerging from the darkness. Our eyes both darted towards the new man. He stood tall, with a small grin forming on his face. "Nobody asked you." "No need. I'm here, aren't I?" The bitter stranger sighed as he rolled his eyes and stared down at his hands once more. "Where are the others?" "They're on their way. Don't worry."
I looked up at the newest stranger and he returned the glance. "Kim.. Kim Namjoon." He said and I nodded. I heard another set of footsteps stop close to where we stood and immediately, the strangers backed up and looked at the person emerging from the darkness. It was my roommate. "You.." I said as I looked at him. He nodded and stood there quietly. "This is our leader." Nam Joon said. "How can he lead if he doesn't speak?" "Oh he speaks.. You just have to find his voice." "Find his voice? Why should I have to find what is not mine?" "You will know very soon, along with who you are. But for now, come with me. It's time for you to see the first light of darkness."
