A Terrible DADA Class

Laying in your sleeping bag in the Great Hall with Hannah and Susan on either side of you, you kept your eyes on the floor. "He'd have to of done it before he ran into me. I told Black Id try and help him see Harry." You thought shifting enough to glance at the wild haired boy when you heard the doors creak just the slightest. Bowing your head you brought a hand to your lips when Triton tilted his head while looking up at you.

Straining your ears. "I've done the dungeons, Headmaster. No sign of Black. Nor anywhere else in the castle." You heard Snape say to who you assumed was the headmaster. "I didn't really expect him to linger." Dumbledore said continuing to slowly walk the room and monitor the other sleeping students. "Remarkable feat, don't you think? To enter Hogwarts castle on one's own, completely undetected."

Snape said accusingly making your frown "Sirius knows a lot of secret passageways, he can practically go anywhere if he's careful enough." You thought as your potions professor continued to speak. "You may recall, prior to the start of term, I did express my concerns when you appointed Professor-" He said before being interrupted by Dumbledore. "I do not believe a single professor inside this castle would have helped Sirius Black enter it, Severus."

He said as you heard him quietly shuffle through the small isles of sleeping students. "No... I feel quite confident the castle is safe. And I'm more than willing to let the students return to their Houses. But tomorrow. For now, let them sleep. It's astonishing what the body can endure when the mind allows itself to rest." Dumbledore said getting you to chance a look his way before ducking back when you caught the corner of his eye.

"Oh snap! He knows I was eavesdropping!" You thought quickly shutting your eyes to try and fall asleep as fast as you could when you heard Triton snickered at you. "Busssted, but I can't believe he wont ssend everybody back to their bed! Thiss flooring iss cold!" Triton hissed slithering his way up to the crook of your neck to stay warm. Smiling at him you lightly patted his head before falling asleep.

Sitting in DADA class the next day you tapped your quill on your desk with your hand covering your mouth as you thought of a game plan regarding Harry and Sirius. "The quidditch game this weekend is Gryffindor versus Slytherin. I could probably ask Cedric if his dad could pick Allen up for it. I could use him to sneak Sirius into the stands." You though when a sudden snap made you jolt up in your seat and look around to see Snape using his wand of close the shutters. getting Ron to look at you before frowning at Snape who pulled down a white screen.

"Turn to page 394." He ordered as the students eyed Snape with guarded curiosity, seeing Malfoy smirk and cover something with his bandaged arm, you turned to him with a squint as he balled something up in his hands. Watching as he opened his hands a moth fluttered from his palms. Turning your eyes to Harry next as he asked. "Excuse me, sir, but where's Professor Lupin?" Getting Snape to turn a sharp gaze at him.

"That's not really your concern, is it, Potter? Suffice it to say, your Professor finds himself incapable of teaching at the present time. Page 394." Snape said as you frowned and glanced at Ron who glanced at you when you saw the moth Malfoy let loose flew in Snapes face getting you to crack a small smile as the said professor waved it away and blew out a candle letting a slideshow show up on the white screen

Blinking at an ancient woodcut of a horrific beast you turned to look at Snape as Ron looked down at his book asking. "Werewolves?" Getting Hermione to turn to the dark clad professor. "But, sir, we've only just begun learning about Red Caps and Hinkypunks. We're not meant to start nocturnal beasts for weeks." She said making you double take as her sudden appearance "(First/Name) when did she come in? Harry did you see her come in?" Ron asked turning from you to Harry who shrugged just as confused as the two of you were.

"Now. Which of you can tell me the difference between an Animagus and a werewolf?" Snape asked ignoring Hermione's earlier remark. Staring mutely at the slide with the picture of an attacking werewolf you heard a quiet smack making you turn to see that Harry had captured the moth as it mushroomed a plum of dust into the air. Watching Harry lift his palm you saw a piece of parchment appear in its stead. "No one? How... disappointing." Snape said getting you to remember his question and move to raise your hand.

When Hermione spoke up. "Please, sir, an Animagus is a wizard who elects to turn into an animal. A werewolf has no choice in the matter. Furthermore, the werewolf actively hunts humans and responds only to the call of its own kind." She said getting Draco to smartly howl at her words. "Quiet, Malfoy! Though one must admit to feeling your pain. That is the second time you have spoken out of turn, Miss Granger. Tell me. Are you incapable of restraining yourself? Or do you take pride in being an insufferable know-it-all? If you had opened your eyes you would see Miss (Last/Name) had raised her hand to answer.

Immediately dropping your hand when Hermione turned to you she mouthed an apology when Ron muttered. "He's got a point, you know." To Harry who was staring at the parchment in his hand with a frown. When Snape snapped "Five points from Gryffindor for Grangers lack of control over her tongue! And as an antidote to your ignorance, I prescribe two rolls of parchment on the werewolf by Monday morning, with particular emphasis placed on recognizing it."

He said getting you to grimace and write down your homework assignment when Snape snatched the parchment Harry had been looking at. "Passing notes, Potter? Not exactly Picasso, are you? I hope you demonstrate more talent on the Quidditch pitch this weekend then you do as an artist. If not, I fear you'll perish, given the weather forecast. Until that time, however, you'll forgive me if I don't let you off homework. Should you die, I assure you, you need not hand it in."

He said dropping the parchment back onto Harry's desk before turning away from wild haired boy to continue his lesson, mouth partly dropping open at your professors last words you shot a glare to Malfoy who was snickering with Crabbe, Goyle and Pike. "When its Hufflepuff against Slytherin next I'm so going to send a bludger either Draco's way and knock him off his broom. Or accidentally send it towards Snapes face." You muttered getting a quiet snicker from Ron. "That'd be bloody brilliant." He whispered leaning close to you so Snape wouldn't hear him.
