A Game In A Storm

“You’ve got to be kidding me! We’re playing Gryffindor? Why isn't Slytherin playing?” You asked angrily, pacing your common room as Cedric sighed as your house's quidditch team murmured to one another. “It's because Slythrins seeker has an injured arm and can't play properly.” Cedric said as he crossed his arms. “Oh thats complete nonsense! Dracos fine! He's just being over dramatic to get out of playing in a storm!”

You said swinging your arm up to the small round window that was being rattled by the storms, heavy winds and downpour. Frowning sympathetically as he nodded. “I know Bunny but Filch won't change his mind, we’re just going to play Gryffindor sooner than we planned. Now all we need to do is just follow our game plan, and we’ll be fine.” Cedric said, turning to his team with a smile as they nodded and agreed as they stood to leave and get ready for the match down at the pitch.

Shoulders dropping you turned to the window to see the grass outside being forcefully whipped around and rain roughly pelt the window. Sighing you followed suit with your team to get ready when Cedric lightly tapped your shoulder. “My Dad said he wouldn't be able to come to today's game. So that means your brother won't be here to see you play. Sorry Bunny.” He said, making you groan and drop your head into your hands. “Great! First I have to play sooner than I thought and now how am I going to get Sirius out into the stands without people wondering why there's a dog there!”

You thought before looking up to the fifth year with a small smile. “Thanks for telling me. It's too bad Allen couldn't be here. But I guess it is for the best. It's storming out there and I wouldn't want him to get sick” You said getting the brunette to smile and nod as he left to head to the pitch as well. Following your team's captain and your older brother figure out into the wind and rain you ducked your head and spotted a mass of black fur coming your way.

Pausing long enough for the animagus to get closer you glanced to your team and captain before kneeling down to yell over the wind. “There's going to be a change of plans! Slythrins not playing Gryffidor today, Hufflepuff is! So you're going to have to sneak into the stand by yourself okay?” You said getting a nod from Sirius before you took off your house's scarff to tie it around the black hounds neck.

“If anyone looks at you they'll think you're someone's pet there to cheer them on. Now I really gotta go!” You yelled getting up to dash to your teams tent to get changed. Slipping in a puddle just outside you yelped and quickly crawled in making a few of your teammates turn to you. “Oh there she is!” “Whoa decided to slide down here did you?” Common, it's almost time, let's get you dressed.” Your team joked and said as you carefully stood up dripping wet.

Getting to your locker you quickly changed into your uniform and met with the others who were surrounding Cedric. “I know this wasn't part of our strategy this year, but let's get out there and show them what Hufflepuff is made of!” Cedric said raising his broom into the air making you and your team cheer and raise your brooms as well. Leaving the tent you braced yourself when the wind changed directions and made you and a few others stagger off to the side as you made your way to the middle of the stadium.

Watching as Cedric and Oliver shook hands you turned to Harry worriedly. “Hows he going to see in this weather?” You thought turning to Hooch who ordered everyone to mount their brooms over the wind before blowing into her whistle making everyone kick off into the air. Grunting as you fought to keep steady on your broom you flipped your bat in your hand as the balls were set loose. Dashing forward to shield your team's chasers from being hit by the flying bluders you knew this would be a long game.

Squinting against the rain beating against you nearly twenty minutes into the game, you saw that either Fred or George had powerfuly hit a bludger towards Malcolm who was nearly ten feet below you. Going into a sudden dive you yanked your bromm up just in time to swing your bat and smack the bludger away to nearly knock someone off there broom. “Now thats what im talking about go Bunny, thanks for the save!” Malcolm yelled patting your back when you heard a sharp whistle over the thunder and lightning.

Dipping down to Micheal “What's going on?” You yelled over the wind getting the blond to turn to you. “The gryffindor team called for a time out!” He yelled making you nod and watch as tiny specks on the field rush under a tent. Shifting your weight on your broom. “What's the score? It's hard to tell and hear the announcements over this weather.” You said flying closer to your team's other beater as he jerked his broom back under control. “Gryffindors fifty points up! Cedrics says if he or the other seeker can't find the snitch soon we’ll be playing into the dark!”

Micheal yelled over the thunder that crackled over head just as the Gryffindor team started zooming back into the air. Watching them get back into some formation you noticed Micheal raising a fist up. “We’ll win for sure!” He cheered, getting you to bump his fist with your own. “For sure!” You cheered as you both zipped in opposite directions to cover your team's chasers. Not long after you spotted Cedric burst forward just as you hit the bludger away from Heidi. “Cedric must have spotted the snitch! If I'm right, that's Harry following after him!” You yelled over to Heidi who stopped her broom near you and nodded.

“We won't be able to see who catches the snitch though! There up in the clouds one of them better catch it soon, I'm beyond frozen to my broom right now.” Heidi said, carefully rubbing her hands together. Nodding in agreement you were still facing her when the crowd suddenly screamed in horror. Whipping around your heart jolted in shock as you saw Harry falling hundreds of feet. Moving your broom faster than Heidi could yell you had put your shooting star into a sharp nose dive.

“Okay Star it's now or never!” You thought hopping up to plant your feet on the brooms shaft like Harry did in your guys first year while still nose diving. Feeling the gold vine details shift and wrap around your feet and ankles you grinned knowing that the charm you made worked. Passing Harry you sharply shifted your weight to make your broom straighten just in time to catch the unconscious teen. Dropping half a dozen feet you grunted as your broom landed allowing you to drop under Harry dead weight.

Looking Harry over worriedly you cradled him close when you looked up to see Dementors over the pitch. Tightening your hold on Harry, you jumped when Madam Hooch touched your shoulder. “Get him on the stretcher, he needs to be taken to the Hospital wing immediately!” She yelled pointing to the stretcher that was laying next to her. Nodding you released your hold on your friend so they could take him away.

Turning to your broom you smiled as the gold vine detail slowly unwrapped from your ankles and back around your broom. “(First/Name) that was incredible! How did you not fall off your broom?!” Hermione asked running up to you as you got up to follow after Harry and his forming onterauge. “I put a charm on my broom, so that the vine detailing would wrap around me when I need it.” You explained pointing to the vines as Ron finally reached the two of you. “It was bloody brilliant! Good thing Professor Dumbledore slowed Harry down!” He said, making you nod.
