"Who's the new guy?" I asked Jason, motioning at a guy. About Annabeth age. She was talking with him, him not talking back. But nodding and smiling.

"No idea..." He said, and they walked up to the 6 of us. We got back late last night from Greece. But I don't remember ever seeing this guy at Camp before.

"Who's the new camper?" Piper asked Annabeth and he gave a really? Look at us.

"He's not new." Annabeth introduced us to him. "This is Percy. Son of Poseidon. A summer camper. Percy, this is Hazel, Frank, Jason, Leo, Piper, and you obviously know Nico."

"What's up?" Of course it was asked. He just shrugged, and Grover walked over, gaining his attention.

"He shrugged..." I commented. "He shrugged."

"I've known the guy for 3 years." Nico assured us. "He doesn't talk a lot."

"No, he just doesn't talk." Thalia appeared. "I've known him for 4 years, and I have yet to hear his voice. Nobody knows why. He just doesn't talk. If somebody knows, they don't tell you why. He's mute."

"I just thought he hated me." Nico commented.

I'm not even asking why. Its Nico. He hates everyone. Literally. He hates everybody. He doesn't talk a lot I guess but he's not anywhere near mute. Just not talkative.

"Okay, you need to talk more." I outburst to the son of Hades. "Honestly."

"I can agree with that." Hazel backed me up and Nico quickly glared at her.

The other three demigods came back to Nico glaring at his sister.

"Should I even ask?" Grover asked.

"Nico needs to talk more." Jason filled them in.

Percy thought about this for a quick moment and made a maybe for sort of, like a little bit.

"I hate you." Nico reminds him.

He just put a thumbs up.

Nico went to go get something so of course we asked, ignoring him being mute.

"Its a mutual thing, right?" I figured it had to be. Percy didn't seem at all offended by it.

He shakes his head.

"One sided?" Hazel questioned, knowing her brother would never hold a grudge. If there's hate, its both ways.

He nods his head, yes.

"You know were talking about Nico, right?" I ask. "He's not one to hold grudges."

He nods his head like you must be joking.

That night we were all talking. The seven of us. And Annabeth sort of explained why he was mute.

"The summer of 2005." The daughter of Athena tells. "We were playing truth or dare. And Percy, as a joke, was dared to be silent for 10 years. It was a joke. It was serious. He did some stupid dare afterwards and he already didn't really talk a whole lot. He was a very depressed person when he started here at Camp. But nobody has heard his voice since that night. Nobody knows why he does it. If something did actually happen, he won't say. Will marked him down as mute like 4 years ago. He was depressed his first two summers. Nobody knows why. He never said. The closest thing to an answer we got was that it has nothing to do with this place. I can't see it being with his mom or Gabe, his step dad. It has to be at school something has been going on. He's not mute because of the dare I don't think. I think he went home that night. His mom got in a crash and he had to go see her in the hospital. She lived. So she didn't die. The other person hadn't survived but... So is life. The next week he didn't talk we thought maybe it was because of his mom and eventually after almost two months we realized this was an actual thing, because his mom was released after two days. That winter, recruiting Nico, he was as happy as he could be. Still didn't talk. But he seemed happy. And after that winter I don't know what happened. Nobody knows what happened. His parents don't know. But slowly he fell back into a depression. Grover and myself and half of the camp would always ask if he was okay, what happened. But even now he just lets of a small smile and walks away."

Nico walks out of the room for whatever reason and Grover walked in.

Piper is Piper.

"This is random." She states. "Its just something I swear I noticed about him when I saw him. Is Percy gay?"

Everyone looks at the Grover.

"Um..." He said. "As of 2004 and 2005, yes. If I remember right. Its been so dam long since then."

It really has. I was just turning 10 then.

Percy walked and I love this guys humor. He grabbed a piece of paper, drew something down, I couldn't see what, and I walked into a closet.

Everyone was confused.

He gets out of the closet holding up a little paper with a rainbow and it took us all a minute.

Nico saw this, too.

"Coming out of the closet." I figured and he nods his head.

"As..."

"You are all idiots." Nico said as he walks over to Percy, taking the paper. And walking out of the closet.

"Gay!" Jason out it together.

"Duh." Nico said and hands back the paper to Percy, who is now very confused along with most of us.

Like... Okay, Percy. I can live with that.

Why was Nico so obvious about that, though?
