Gray Emmerson

''Why do you always have to drag me to these stupid party's Elaine?!'' I ask my best friend while groaning. ''You know very well how much I hate party's!''

''Because it's fun Gray!'' Elaine replies and literally drags me by my arm towards his bedroom as he makes me stand in front of his mirror. He is staring at me with a questionable look while he is rubbing his finger on his chin.

''Hmm.. What shall we do with this case?'' He asks himself as if I'm not able to hear him.

''Hello?! I'm still right here idiot!'' I huff softly while crossing my arms, clearly not looking forward to this dumb party.

I don't know if it was the loud music, the sweaty people who broke your personal space or the reckless drinking that sets me off, but I was never one to party. In my opinion, it was nothing but pointless and a waste of your time. Why would people prefer to dance aimlessly, kiss random strangers and drink tons of alcohol until they get sick and drained the next day?

I'd rather just stay home with a cup of tea while reading a book or watching my favourite show, much more fun.

That was one of the many differences between my best friend and I. People never understood why we were friends, to begin with, and honestly, sometimes I wonder about that myself as well. Elaine was the popular party-animal who loved to make spontaneous reckless choices and I was the one who was pretty much unknown in school and always tried to stay out of any trouble.

But I also knew that Elaine and I cared about one another as friends and we would always be there for each other if someone was in need of help. We did anything we could to make the other happy, even if we couldn't always understand why. I just could count on Elaine ever since kindergarten no matter the circumstances and that's why I loved him as my best friend.

''Ah-hah! I know how to make you a flaming hotty Emmerson'' He grins mischievously, grabs a bit of his gel that he puts through my hair.

I watch my best friend annoyed, knowing I wouldn't be able to fight him on this anyway. Not only was Elaine as strong as brick, but he could also get very stubborn when things wouldn't go his way.

So I made it easier for both of us.

When he finally finished doing my hair, he went over to his closet and got me some clothes. ''You have to wear this! They are too small for me so I bet you're able to fit them with your small ass'' He grins and goes to the bathroom, probably to make himself ready.

I roll my eyes as I start to dress in these clothes. Sometimes I wonder why I even do this to myself, but then I realize I'm just doing this to make my best friend happy. Elaine has always supported me when I had any knowledge competitions or when I had to go somewhere that totally wasn't anywhere near Elaine's style.

I finish dressing and walk back towards the mirror, admiring how good I actually look. I never really bother to make the best out of myself, cause I was just cursed with my parents their genes anyway. I know I wasn't the prettiest, biggest or hottest boy existing so why not just embrace myself for how I looked? Even though I wish I had the looks like Elaine or the other popular boys at my school had,I was pretty much fine by it.

''Ready Freddy?'' Elaine asks as he comes back, smirking with a noticeable excitement in his eyes.

Elaine styled his black hair all the way back, which was such a difference compared to the dark strands that used to fall in front of his eyes. His bright blue eyes are extremely visible: his eyes were one of the brightest I've ever seen on someone. A huge smirk was obviously plastered on his stupid face. He was wearing a dark leather jacket with a simple white t-shirt underneath, along with dark blue jeans and a pair of black worn-out sneakers.

''Damn, looking good Bolton'' I laugh soft, nodding then. ''I'm ready..''

Well.. Here goes nothing..

-

There we were, standing in front of the house: you could hear the music bounce from miles away, an overload of people were to be found in- as well outside the house and the smell of alcohol mixed with sweat wasn't something you could miss.

The urge to kick Elaine in the balls and run back home started to become huge.

''Oh, come on Elaine! Just suck it up already!'' I whisper to myself.

''Suck what up?'' Elaine grins as he stared me in the eyes, knowing he was referring to something else since he knew I was gay.

''Don't be such a nasty ass and get in already! I wanna be over with this asshole!'' I scoff as I felt my cheeks getting hot, after taking a deep breath, I follow Elaine inside the house.

''Wow..'' I murmur to myself as I looked around.

The entire living room was packed with people, red cups were laying everywhere and people danced around as if they got a stick up their ass.

What? At least I'm being honest.

''Elaine, you made it!'' I hear this annoying high-pitched voice yell towards my best friend, knowing exactly who that was.

''Sara! Hey!'' He greets her excitedly and hugs her, kissing her on the cheek. That was the moment I notice someone silently standing next to Sara. I don't know who he was but somehow he looks pretty similar to Sara, but I ignore it and lay my attention on the devil in disguise.

I suppress the feeling of rolling my eyes as I watch them. I never knew if they were serious or not, cause Elaine wouldn't let on too much about Sara. But all I knew was that I never liked her. Not because I was jealous, cause I wasn't, but because Elaine deserved so much better.

Sara was one of the popular girls who had the attitude of a cow. Yes, I had to admit, she was a beautiful blonde with her amazing grey eyes, her skin was as light and soft as a baby's and she definitely had a killer body. But she ignored you if you weren't popular, flirted with any living boy on earth and she was just straight up mean. And Elaine, being Elaine, obviously was too blind to see what kind of person Sara really was. He tends to see the good in people.

Even though Sara clearly wasn't.

So it wasn't a surprise to me that she got her hands all over him and took him away from me. They disappeared in less than a minute, setting a full on record.

''Well, thanks for leaving me alone Elaine.. Great friend..'' I murmur to myself, knowing this would happen.

After taking a deep breath, I shake my head and made my way to the kitchen (which took me like ten minutes to find). Just because that asshole leaves me alone every time we go to a party, doesn't mean I should not try to enjoy myself. I open the fridge and get me some apple juice.

Oh, if you could wake me up for anything then it definitely would be apple juice. It's one of my guilty pleasures.

''Party's aren't really your scene, are they?'' I heard this unknown voice behind me which made me jump and almost drop my juice.

Smooth boy Gray, Smooth boy.. Saved the juice..

I turn around to the person and start to notice it was that random boy who stood next to Sara earlier.

''Are you stalking me?'' I asked, trying not to look scared but could feel my heart beating as fast as a racing car. ''I got pepper spray with me and I'm not afraid to use it!'' I growl, trying to reach for it.

''Whoa, whoa! Chill.. I'm not a creep, I promise..'' The boy laughs awkwardly as he put his hands up in surrender, looking a little bit amused at the situation.

''Oh.. Right.. I'm sorry..'' I mutter while blushing, watching him confused. ''Why are you here then? And who are you?''

''I'm not really a fan of party's so.. I'm Matthew Heart'' He introduces himself, extending a hand towards me.

''Not a fan of party's? How come you're here then? My best friend dragged me here, but if I had the chance, I'd run back home if I were you'' I laugh soft, handing him some apple juice too.

''That's the point.. My sister is throwing this party and I live here'' He rolls his eyes while shaking his head, not seeming very happy with his sister.

Wait a minute..

''But Sara is throwing this party? No, way?!'' I gasp, reaching for my heart.

I didn't really pay too much attention to his looks before, but that's when I started to notice the resemblance between them. This boy has the hair- and eye colour as Sara. Even the shape of their faces wasn't too different from each other.

My goodness, the trashbag was really his sister!

''Don't tell me that devil is your sister?!'' I ask in shock, eyes widening when I realize how I called his sister in front of him. ''Oh my god, I called her a devil! I'm sorry I don't-''

''Listen Gray! It's fine.. Nothing to worry about..'' He interrupts me with a laugh as he grabbed me by my arms, which made me quit my rambling at an instant. ''Honestly, I know she is a devil.. Even worse than that..'' He explained calmly.

There were so many questions I had left about the Sara-situation. But there was something else that caught my attention more.

''Y-you know my name?'' I murmured confused, staring at his face.

Nobody knows my name?

''Oh, yeah.. It's uh, on your bracelet..'' He pointed at my bracelet, which made me look at it.

Oh..

''Oh.. I forgot about that..'' I blushed and watched him. ''And Matthew is yours..'' I said.

''Matthew is mine..'' He laughed. ''So, about that pepper spray huh? Tell me the story behind it!'' He asked excited, sitting down on the kitchen island.

My cheeks heated up as I started to sit next to him, explaining him the funny story behind it as I loved hearing his laugh during the talk. And so we started on and on about other subjects, getting to know each other while talking and laughing for the rest of the night.

I guess Elaine leaving me behind wasn't so bad after all.
