Chapter 6: The Sorcerer
P.O.V. Third
A male with blonde hair and green eyes was currently walking down the streets of the small town that he lived in. "Hey Rubick," A random male said with a smile as he walked past him. Rubick smiled hearing this and waved back.
He lived in a small town were most people could use magic. Not many were very skilled with it but he was different. He had been trained by one of the towns oldest and most powerful sorcerers. So while his magic was varied and at times weak he knew how to use it to it's fullest.
Rubick continued down the streets until he reached a small temple. When he did he smiled and walked inside. When he did he saw a female with long purple hair and bright green eyes. "Imilingo," Rubick said as he saw the female.
"Ah I'm so glad to see that you have returned," The female said looking at him. Rubick was a little confused hearing this. Not because of what she said but because of how she said. She seemed a little distant when she said it.
"Is something wrong?" Rubick asked looking at the female in front of him.
"I'm not sure," She said looking at the blonde male in front of her.
"Then tell me what has you so distracted," Rubick said looking at the female in front of him. She sighed hearing this and looked at him.
"I've heard a few disturbing rumors about a town that's outside of the Canopy Kingdom," The female said looking at him.
"Okay, well what are they?" Rubick asked looking at the female hearing the distress in her voice.
"I've heard that a child was born, and that this child is the embodiment of evil. That he is the manifestation of hatred, and sorrow," The female said looking at the female.
"That can't possibly be true," Rubick said looking at the female.
"That's what I thought however the town seems to be taking it very seriously. The child apparently left the town they're sending several people after him in hopes of retrieving him," Imilingo said as she stood up.
"I . . . I see," Rubick said looking at the female. "So what do you want to do about it?" The male asked as he looked at the female in front of him.
"That mercenaries that were hired, are passing through a nearby town. I'd like you to join them and make sure that their actions aren't misguided," Imilingo said looking at Rubick.
The blonde male nodded hearing this and looked at the female. "What if they are right? Then what should I do?" The male asked looking at the elderly female in front of him.
"We've talked about what you should do in these types of situations," the female said looking at him. The male nodded hearing this and pulled out a mask with a smile on it. He then placed the mask on and looked at the female.
"Hopefully I'll return soon," the male said ad he began to walk down the streets. As he did he felt a little nervous he had never actually had to wear his mask before despite what she had told him.
'When fighting an opponent that's underhanded, wear this. If he can't see your reaction then he can't exploit any weakness that you may show in battle. This mask may end up saving not only your life but the life of someone close to you as well,' the male thought as he walked down the streets.
When I left the town I began to walk towards the town that I had been told that they would be in. He walked for most of the day and it was late at night when he arrived. When he did he noticed two figures walking down the streets. Two males one old and one young.
The elder of the two had long silver hair and brilliant golden eyes. While the younger of the two had pure white hair and vivid purple eyes. Deciding that they had nothing to do with what he was doing he sighed and waited at the entrance of the town for the people he had been told to wait for.
P.O.V. Rubick
I waited for almost a day for the people I was supposed to meet. I then heard something in the distance and looked to see several men and women walking towards the town. They each had their own weapons and some appeared to be sorcerers like me.
As they walked past me I started to follow them. They didn't seem to mind me as much as I thought they would but either way is fine. As we walked I tapped on one of their shoulders and she turned to look at me.
"Sorry to bother you, but do you know what the person we're looking for looks like?" I asked looking at her.
"We're looking for a child, he has pure white hair bright purple eyes," the female said looking at him. As soon as she said this I remembered the two that I had seen the previous night.
I sighed realizing this and moved back. "Thank you," I said looking at the female. We continued to a small town that I didn't recognize and someone started to speak. "Alright everyone this town is fairly large so spread out and contact the others if you find him," someone said looking at us.
Most people walked away hearing this and after most were gone I sighed and walked in another direction. As I was walking I felt someone bump into me and looked down to see the male from before on the ground and rubbing his head.
"S-sorry," the male said as he got up. I was about to help the male up until I heard a new voice.
"King, it's time for us to leave," the male said as he looked at the younger male in front of him.
"R-right!" King said as he got up off the ground. "S-sorry mister but I have to go," the male said as he began to walk down the streets. "Wait for me Chronos!" The younger of the two said as he ran down the streets.
I sighed seeing this and began to walk down the streets. When I did I met up with the people that were tracking him. "Seems like we only just missed him this time however we'll ready for him next time," the male said looking at us. I then sighed as we continued to walk down the street.
From what I saw he didn't seem that bad. He seemed like a good person from what I saw. I was starting to consider what Imilingo said. Maybe what they were told was wrong and that they really are misguided.
If that's the case then I'll also need to warn them when we get to the next town as well. We continued until we got to the next town. I began to look for the male in hopes of telling him that he needed to get out of the town.
However when I found him he was already in restraints and had several others around him. I gritted my teeth seeing this and sighed. Seems like I was to late to help him. I then sighed and watched as we began to slowly walk back to town.
I'm sure I can convince them that he's not evil with the amount of time we have. After all it took us a few days just to find him. It'll probably take even longer to return him to whatever town he's from.
As we were walking I realized that I had dropped my mask. It must have fallen off when I was running through the streets. I then turned around and ran towards the town. If I run there and back then it shouldn't be to long before I find them again.
I felt a little nervous as I walked through the town looking for my mask. After all there's always the possibly that someone found it and took it, or that someone stepped on it and broke it.
I continued looking for it for several minutes before I finally found it. I smiled as I picked up the mask and looked at it. It didn't seem cracked and appeared to be in the same condition as when I had it on. I then smiled as I once again put the mask back on.
I then began to run towards where I thought the group had went. As I walked I started to feel a strange pressure. I'm not sure who was making it but it didn't feel good. Ad I continued I felt the pressure slowly fade until it eventually disappeared completely.
As I walked towards where the strange pressure was I started to feel a little uneasy. As I continued to walk I saw something in the distance. I then ran towards what I saw however as I came closer to it I became a little more nervous. Once I was close enough to see what it was I stopped and stared at it for a few seconds.
I was shocked by what I saw. Several bodies were laying on the ground and covered in blood. Many of them were missing limbs and some had been cut beyond recognition. I clenched my fist seeing this. I could have been here to help them! They didn't have to die! Yet they did because I couldn't look past that facade he put up!
"I don't know about the source of all evil, but if this what you chose to do with your power. Then I can't allow you to live," I said as I got up. He couldn't have gotten that far in such little time.
