I'm tired of missing things.

"Dan! What-what are you doing here?" He shuffles around to the other side of the bed and looks back up at me. His brown eyes still kill me every time.

"I'm here to say sorry. For everything." His hand reaches out for mine but I swat it away. I haven't made all this progress for him to come around and screw it all up.

"Well, it's a little too late Dan. You should've said that before you betrayed me- I trusted you! I was willing to marry you but obviously you weren't as committed as me! GET OUT!" He tries to talk but I just call for a nurse. Dan skitters out of the room- staff at this hospital still freak him out.

You would think he'd change- don't be fooled by his apologies. He is still the same man who almost killed me when he forgot that he was the one who left those marks on his skin. But he is still the man who makes my heart melt with a single fringe flip.

I miss him- I do. I miss the old him. The him who told me I was beautiful without makeup. The him who proposed to me on the beach where we first met. The him who made me feel good about myself.

I miss the late night chats; the gossiping over our best friends' relationship; the tickle fights where he'd pin me down and kiss my neck; the surprise holidays; the hand-holding. I miss us. But I know that it will never happen again. Not the same, anyway.

"Phil, I think I forgive him." He props himself up and leans over me. His cornflower blue eyes stare into my own murky green ones.

"Are you sure?"

I nod and slide off the bed. There's no point dwelling over this when he didn't mean to hurt me. It was just an accident. Of course it was. "Where is Dan anyway?"

Phil rolls out the bed and scrambles to stand beside me. I offer a bent arm which he quickly links with his own before leading me to my room a few doors down. Me and Dan wanted space from him and Ella but not too much. They are our best friends after all.

I knock on the door and immediately hear footsteps stampede on the other side. A weary British boy swings it open, throwing his arms around me. "I'm so, so, sorry Leigh."

"Look Dan, I will forgive you now." He squeezes me tighter. "But, if you EVER hurt me again, it'll need a hell of a lot more than just an apology for me to even CONSIDER talking to you again. You hear me?" His head nods as he buries his face into my shoulder.

"Alright, who's up for some Frisbee to celebrate the engaged couple?" Ella points out the window to the beach below.

Me and Dan look at each other. "Race you for 10 quid?". He offers a hand for me to shake. I simply smirk and sprint for the stairs.

"YOU'RE ON, HOWELL!" I hear him laughing and shouting back at me but I'm already at the first staircase. Surprising a few people on the way down, I bound past them all on the way to the fire exit at the bottom. I push through the door and run out onto the sand. "I'VE WON, HOWELL! WHERE'S MY TENNER?"

"Not so fast, Matthews...." A voice whispers. I turn to have Dan millimetres from my face. He kisses me sweetly. "The lift was so much faster, stupid." His lips peck my nose.

"Eurgh, fine. Here's your money." I reach for my pocket but he bats my hand away.

"I don't want anything. Apart from maybe a Frisbee because we forgot one." He chuckles and I playfully punch his stomach. Grabbing both my arms, he lifts me clean off the floor and presses his body against mine.

"Don't do that Matthews, unless you want another tickle fight." He smirks and kisses me again before gently lowering me back on the sand.

"Hey lovebirds, how's it hanging?" Phil and Ella step out of the hotel doors with a Frisbee in their hands.

"Look Dan, someone was smart enough to bring the Frisbee!" I raise an eyebrow at my fiancè. He prods my arm behind our backs, earning a flick back from me. Turning slightly, he digs his elbow into my hip. I instantly bend at the waist until he lets go.

Oh- he went there.

Only revenge is on my mind as I tickle the back of his neck. He goes into turtle mode for a few seconds and pushes me sideways. "You deserved all of that, Howell."

"HEY HEY HEY, WE ARE ALL ADULTS HERE! STOP SQUABBLING!" Ella separates us with a smile on her face. "Come on, let's go play!"

We set up into a square, out of the way of the few people around. This beach is privately owned by the hotel so only guests can be here. Dan really went all out with the budget for this place so he could propose in the same place we met four years ago. Gotta love him.

"You ready, Matthews?" I see Dan is still in his competitive mindset, calling Phil, Lester One and Ella, Lester Two.

"Sure am, Howell!" He throws the Frisbee but it flies high out of my reach and into the sea. "HEY- I'M SHORT! AIM LOWER NEXT TIME!"

I wade into the blue water and pluck the disk from where it floats about three metres from the shore. "Whatever Matthews, don't be a sore loser!" I shake my head and chuckle to myself.

When the Frisbee makes it way back to Dan, he pretends to toss it straight into the sand. "Low enough for you, Matthews?" He laughs and chucks it to me at normal height. It hits me in the chest, the immense speed knocking me to the ground.

Dan rushes to my aid, pulling me up to my feet. "OH MY GOD LEIGH, I'M SO SORRY." I nod and lean against him.

Drawing circles on his chest with my finger, I whisper, "Don't be sorry- I'm the one who can't catch."
