Fear

You clean your new dagger with a small smile as Law tends to your wounds. "You seem fond of that." He hums.

"It's a beautiful piece, SilverDown truly makes the best." You comment peering at him. He meets your gaze as he begins to wrap your injuries.

"And apparently herders make the best warriors." He comments.

"Heh... I'm just used to handling monsters." You hum.

"I suppose... You look beautiful today by the way." He murmurs. You blink and look down at your bandages and uniform.

"... Sure." You meet his gaze disbelieving. He searches your face before brushing some hair from your face.

"You truly are." He smiles softly. You recall the kiss before that horrific night in the woods and offer a smile.

"I don't think I'm the type you should fall in love with Law." You breathe getting up once he's finished, pulling on your top. "I have to go wake the prince now." You start for the door.

"I think you are," He says after you. You stop in the doorway and look back at him. "You're just scared to find out."

"Fear has nothing to do with it." You assure before continuing to Kid's room.

Easing in, you find him sitting up in his bed, rubbing his eyes sleepily. "Good morning your majesty," You greet, making him look up.

"You didn't go back to sleep did you?" He guesses with a sleepy grumble. You pause, slightly surprised he brought it up. A few hours after you had fallen asleep, you woke up from a nightmare. Apparently you had made a sound that woke him as well, and he had leaned over you in concern as you had panicked slightly before remembering where you were.

"... I didn't wish to wake you again your majesty. I picked out your clothes for the day. Today you'll be listening to citizens." You tell him, turning to go out.

"Wait... You never told me what it was about." He says. You touch the door knob.

"It doesn't matter... But if you must know... It was that night all over again." You sigh before going out swiftly. You didn't understand why he was concerned. Sure you had saved him, but he should be used to it by now. You frown at the ground as you start for the kitchen. You felt tired, you've been up well before dawn, just wandering lost until others began to wake.

Someone walks past you and you stop, looking after the guard. You frown and go after him. He touches the hilt of his sword as he nears Kid's door. Your frown deepens, raising your dress slightly to touch the hilt of your dagger. Kid comes out, narrowly dodging the guard's blade. Your dagger pierces the guard's neck, you pause glancing at Kid's sword that had pierced the guard's chest at the same time.

Kid looks at you as you look at him in surprise. "I'm alright." He says before you can ask, ripping his sword free. You remove your dagger as the guard drops.

"... Good..." You murmur before escorting him toward the dining hall. Odd, when did he get on edge?

"You alright? You didn't hurt yourself moving like that did you?" He asks. You give him a look, stepping away from him.

"Do not concern yourself with me please." You frown lightly. Kid blinks at you, raising an eyebrow.

"... Alright then..." He mutters with a light frown. He was a bit frustrated with your 'wall' as Killer had called it. To him it was clear that you were still wary of him, but you and the doctor seemed close. He didn't like it, it bothered him, but what could he do about it? "Will you sit with me for breakfast then?"

"... I don't think it's proper for a servant to eat with his majesty." You answer. His frown deepens at that and you feel a bit guilty since he seemed to be trying to be friendly. "Then again, since it's the majesty's request, I suppose just this once will be fine." You add looking ahead. He smiles a bit at that, at least you didn't oppose entirely.

After sitting with him for breakfast, you follow the prince to the thrown where he listened to citizens that came to ask for favors.

"Your majesty, we've found a new quarry on the royal grounds, I've come to request that you open in to the people of RedRun." This plea came from the head monk, Urogue, apparently he ran trade in town. Kid blinks and frowns lightly.

"And what were you doing on the royal grounds?" He questions.

"It was the annual hunt for the citizens your majesty." Killer informs him. Kid hums and nods slightly.

"I'll have to inspect it first." Kid states, getting up.

"Why you?" You ask with a slight frown. The monk looks at you in surprise while Kid pauses.

"The royal family must lay eyes on everything new on their land... And, I wanna go for a ride." Kid points out. "Go prepare our horses." He says to another servant. You blink, becoming unsure but don't say anything.

"Interesting, his majesty is much more lenient with his servants than he used to be." Urogue hums as Kid leaves the throne room to get ready. You look at the monk as he watches you curiously. "You should know your place servant."

"You should watch your tongue monk." You respond before going to the servant rooms and changing into something to travel in. You go back out as Kid starts back for the throne after changing. He pauses as his eyes land on you.

"Are those the only clothes you have?" He frowns lightly at the tears.

"Yes, I havent had a chance to get anything else." You point out. He gives a nod, still frowning as he continues on.

"Then go to town once we return. Everything I see you in has blood stains on them..." He orders you lightly. You blink at that and look down at yourself consciously. You hadn't noticed it, but he was right. You must look like such a mess beside the man. You glance over his clothes and frown before trying to distract yourself from the clothes as you both head out and mount your horses before following the head monk out of town.

The quarry was large, and the walls made a crescent shape around the group, at the center is the large mouth of a cave. You frown lightly as you dismount, something felt off about this place. "Your majesty..." You murmur, going to his side when he dismounts. He peers at you, pausing.

"What's wrong?" He inquires lightly.

"Lets be cautious here." You breathe carefully. He blinks and looks to the quarry with a small frown.

"Stay near the horses, I'll be right back." He says before going with the monk to look over the quarry. You chew on your lip, watching his back carefully, drawing your dagger.

They soon stop at the mouth of the cave and the monk presents a torch, gesturing for them to enter. You quickly following after them, moving between the monk and Kid. "Your majesty." You frown at him, wishing he would listen to you.

"I told you to wait near the horses ___." He frowns back. You actually wanted to bite him at that, but refrain, stopping when you sense that the monk was no longer with you. You and Kid look back to see the monk smiling with two other men.

"Such a shame. I didn't wish to bury a servant as well." Urouge hums as the men strike the walls with pickaxes, causing cracks to spread to the ceiling. Your eyes widen, pushing Kid back as the ceiling begins to cave. Kid falls back in surprise and you swiftly move over him to protect his head and vitals.

"___!" He breathes as rocks of various sizes begin to fall onto you. You grit your teeth, keeping his head to your chest as the rocks crack your bones and break your skin, adding to the pain that had already been plaguing you.

"I won't let you fall here... So close your eyes until it's over." You tell him, shielding him more just before a rock strikes your head and everything goes black.

<i>"___! A letter came for you!" A blond man calls, holding it up.

"What does it say?" You hum, stretching a bit before picking up the fresh bucket of milk.

"It's from a guy named Killer. He wants to hire you for a job at his kingdom." He informs you, taking the bucket. "And why are you taking Luffy's job again? He's going to get lazy." He scolds lightly.

"No he wont, he and Ace went to get dinner. Stop worrying so much." You push him lightly. He huffs lightly, offering you a slight frown.

"Any. Killer sounds familiar... Wasn't he with you and..." He trails off when your gaze turns into a hard glare. "Sorry. I wasn't going to say his name..." He looks down. "But does Killer know..?"

"Only part of it. He doesn't need to know the rest..." You frown lightly before looking toward the house and smiling slightly when someone runs out to greet you. "Night lad, go light the candles or we'll be cooking in the dark!" You call.

"Yes ma'am!" He chimes.</i>

Your eyes ease open to a small fire, your body ached all over. "Kid..." You manage, looking around carefully.

"I'm here..." He leans over you with a concerned frown. "I didn't think you would wake." He breathes, brushing a knuckle over your cheek. His touch made you feel odd, sending cool shocks over your cheek. You move away slightly, sitting up shakily, wincing as your body surges with pain. "Hey. Don't push yourself..." He urges lightly.

"I'll be fine. We need to get you out of here." You look over the walls frowning lightly, he must've moved you deeper from the cave in.

"I don't think there's a way out ___. They probably scouted the whole place first." He sighs. "I should've listened to you." Kid looks down, frowning more. You blink at him before reaching over and smacking him in the head, shocking him.

"Yeah. You got us into this mess, so it's on you to help me find a way out. Your majesty." You huff, getting up. "There's always a way out other than death. Some people just can't find it." He watches you in slight awe as you start to feel the walls. They were damp and slick. "How far did you go?"

"Not far, I didn't want to leave you alone." He admits, getting up. You nod and smile a bit, grabbing the torch and leading him deeper. The cave expands and starts to slope ahead so you stop.

"They didn't get this far, so they have no idea if there's an exit down there." You murmur.

"Neither do we, what if we get stuck down there?" Kid points out.

"We're stuck either way." You respond before sliding down carefully.

"... The shit you do when we're away from the castle..." He grumbles, following carefully, keeping an eye on you.

You reach the bottom, jumping slightly when your feet meet water. "Thought so..." You kneel down, cupping your hand under the water as Kid slides beside you.

"What is it?" He inquires.

"Spring water, it's moving so there's an outlet somewhere. We'll probably just have to swim."

"I don't know how to swim..." Kid let's you know. You glance at him and try to stand back up but your legs don't obey.

"Damn..." You whisper, looking around. He blinks at you, kneeling beside you.

"You cant move right now, can you?" He guesses.

"I'm fine." You scoff. He frowns and picks you up, looking around until he spots a dry spot at the far corner of this watery cavern. You wince slightly, feeling a few bruises being pressed on by his arms as he carries you over. He sets you clear away from the water, taking the torch to look around.

"Damn... All we have is this torch..." He sighs, setting it down.

"Another reason to get out of here sooner." You try to sit up, wincing again Kid moves to your side, carefully pushing you back down.

"You need to rest ___." He tells you. You frown up at him until he lays beside you and pulls you into his chest.

"W-What are you doing?" You question uneasily.

"Keeping you warm." He responds, quietly, holding you tighter. He lets out a breath against your hair, closing his eyes. This warmth honestly scared you. You push him away, making him blink at you in surprise. "Wha-"

"I don't need your warmth." You murmur, rolling over so your back faces him. Kid frowns lightly at your back, hand reaching for you but stops himself. You curl up a bit, squeezing your eyes shut. For a moment, you had felt your heart open up a bit. 'I need to get out of here soon...' You hug yourself, drifting off again. He watches your breathing slow as the fire begins to dim, carefully moving closer until he can put his arm around you.

"Rest well...."
