Beach Day
(The plan for this chapter was created by TheFicQueen, and she is a much better writer than me. Go read her books. Seriously.)
Two days before we went to our internships, Aizawa decided we should have a day off as a class. We held an anonymous vote to decide where to go and the beach won, so here we were. Eijiro, Hagakure and Ashido were the most excited, literally ripping off their swimsuit cover-ups and diving into the water, simultaneously screaming "THE OCEAN!!" as the rest of us took our time. Jiro, Bakugou and Tokoyami were lagging behind us, obviously not the ones who voted beach. Bakugou in particular looks saltier than the ocean, but it may just be his face.
I laughed, setting up an umbrella for shade and lying on the sand when it wasn't burning hot anymore. Without warning, cold water splashed over my body.
"HEY!!" I shout, my eyes flying open to be greeted by a grinning Eijiro, holding one of those plastic buckets that kids use to build sand castles. I leap to my feet, running at him, bent on vengeance. He dives into the water again, splashing me a second time, and I remove my swimsuit cover-up and tackling him. We roll over eachother a few times before having to surface for air.
"Everyone, please gather around!" Iida yells, drawing our attention. He was holding a little booklet, waving his free arm in the air. We reluctantly leave the water and form a circle around him. Out of the water, in the wind, I was getting cold.
"I will now read pages two to five of my beach safety packet," he exclaims, and I laugh along with Uraraka.
"Pffttt, he's taking this so seriously!" she giggles, covering her mouth with her hands and trying to contain her laughter. We both fail and start laughing loudly. After Iida is done, we run back to the water. Eijiro beats me in, splashing me once more, and I shove him under the water for a few seconds. Todoroki joins us, but he has arm floaties on. Even when he gets out for a while he still has them on whenever he's within ten feet of the water.
"Um... T-Todoroki? You don't need to wear those over here..." I overhear Midoriya say to him before being shoved under by Denki. When I surface, I catch the last part of Todoroki's response.
"...Safety first, Midoriya."
Chuckling to myself, I feel someone's head slip between my legs and hoist me onto their shoulders. Looking down, I see a familiar mess of bright red hair. Looking around, I notice that Sero and Denki have formed a team as well. Eijiro charges at them and I lock hands with Denki, trying to shove him off Sero's shoulders.
"VICTORY!!" he cries as I topple backwards, landing in the water behind Eijiro. After I remember which way is up, I surface, then feel someone copping a feel behind me. Twisting around and elbowing Mineta directly in the face, he sinks to the bottom. I take a second to glare at him and watch him almost drown before yanking him to the surface and chucking him ashore. During the intense duel with Denki, I had gotten sea water both in my mouth and up my nose. My nose and throat were burning, so I excused myself to get some fresh water.
On my way up the beach, I saw that four people were tanning - Denki, Yaoyorozu, Hagakure and Aoyama.
"...Should put on some sunscreen, Kaminari," Yaoyorozu was saying. She had become the mom of the class, and I loved her for it.
"Nah, I wanna get tan ASAP. Chicks looooove a tan hunk," he drawls, drawing out the word love. I roll my eyes as I pass them, unscrewing my water bottle and tipping it up. When I'm done, I walk back down to the water and pass Koda on the way. He was whispering to some crabs and I walked slower for a few seconds to see what he was doing. It seemed like he was building a sand castle. It was then that I noticed a colourful gem on the ground. It was almost perfect.
Deciding to take a chance, I kneel beside him. He jumps and nervously turns to face me. I smile and raise my hand in greeting, then hold out the gem I found. He smiles, and a warm feeling fills my heart. Gently placing the rock next to him, I stand up and wander back to the water. Behind me, Koda and the crabs continue building, then place the gem right on the top.
'Such a precious child,' I think to myself as I slide into the water, making sure Mineta isn't nearby. Tsu was swimming in deeper water, I could see her out there. It seemed she was using her tongue to catch fish. A low buzz fills the air and a split second later, something speeds past me. Stumbling backwards, I watch the blur and just manage to make out Todoroki sitting in an inflatable tube with Iida using his engines to push him.
"Holy crap I want a turn!" I half yell, half whisper to myself. Eijiro wades up next to me and drapes his arm around my shoulders, kissing my temple.
"Having fun so far?" he asks as I wrap one arm around his waist.
"So much," I reply, grinning at him. He grins back, then staggers forwards as Sero tackles him from behind.
"CAN'T HAVE TOO MUCH ROMANCE!!" Sero shouts before they go underwater. I laugh uncontrollably, literally falling off balance because of it. It was true, this was the most fun I had experienced since... ever. I had never had this much fun. Mineta suddenly flies past me, spiralling through the air like some deranged bird that didn't know how to turn. He skips along the water a few times, almost reaching where Tsu was, before sinking.
"THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR TRYING TO TOUCH ME!!" Ashido yells, waving her fist in the air. Todoroki and Iida speed by again, this time grazing my arm as they blur past. Jumping backwards from surprise, I accidentally land on Midoriya.
"Sorry," I say, grinning and rubbing the back of my head sheepishly. He was blushing intensely, covering his eyes with one hand and rubbing the back of his head with the other. I laugh, the sound making my heart feel light, and wade away to help Eijiro surface before Sero drowns him.
"Come on, boys, try not to fight," I chuckle, dragging Sero away by the neck of his shirt. Eijiro surfaces, gasping.
"You okay?" I ask him and he nods. Releasing Sero, I place a quick kiss on his cheek before diving away, swimming quickly so he doesn't see my red face. Even after everything we've been through, I still get embarrassed. A few minutes later, a flurry of movement on the sand catches my attention. It seemed like Sero and Ojiro were playing volleyball, but with their Quirks. Laying in the shallows, I watch the game as more people join in. The teams were now Eijiro, Sero, Bakugou and Ashido against Ojiro, Midoriya, Satou and Uraraka. I was cheering for the Bakusquad + Ashido team, but Midoriya's team was winning.
Bakugou had ripped off his shirt at some point and the other boys soon followed, so now I wasn't paying attention to the game but to Eijiro's muscles. Shaking my head, feeling my face heating up, I try to ignore the abs and the arms and the legs and the-
'(Y/N) no stop that no,' I chastise myself, focusing instead on the water around me. An idea creeps into my head and I paint an illusion over the ball so that Ojiro would miss, scoring a point for the Bakusquad team. Silently cheering myself on, I do this a few times, just enough to score a few points and not get caught. I could see Tokoyami and Shoji talking to eachother out of the corner of my eye, then watch them approach the match with Shoji using his arms to shade Tokoyami. They were still talking and I swear to god that Tokoyami was smiling.
"WATCH WHAT YOU'RE DOING YOU SPIKEY HAIRED FUCK!!"
Bakugou's cry brings me back to the game. It seemed Eijiro had gone to block a blow but had missed, allowing the other team to score.
"I think your boyfriend's mad at you buddy..." Sero mutters, grinning. I struggle to contain my laughter as they both turn on him, yelling that a) Bakugou would never date such a retarded idiot, and b) that Eijiro was already taken. The whole scene was ridiculous and Midoriya's team scored three points during the time they were arguing.
"DIE!!" Bakugou cries, then spikes the ball directly into Midoriya's face. He falls backwards, blood slowly seeping from his nose.
"Deku, are you okay?" Uraraka cries, kneeling next to him, and from my view I could see her breasts squishing against his chest. He stutters and mumbles something for a few seconds before promptly falling unconscious. Chuckling, I drag myself out of the water and help Uraraka move him away to somewhere less prone to Bakugou.
"Now we need another player..." Uraraka mumbles sadly, turning to search for other people to play with.
"I'll do it. I wanna beat their asses for once," I say, grinning and hitting a fist into an open palm. Uraraka lights up, quickly running back to the game. When Eijiro sees me on the other side of the net, grinning evilly, his eyes widen. Bakugou's smirk grows wider.
"Seems your little girl has finally betrayed you!" he cries.
"Dude I'm just on the other team," I reply, stretching as I wait for the game to start. Sero serves, flying the ball directly towards my face. Leaping towards it, I hit it over the net, painting the illusion that it went slightly to the left. Ashido hit what she thought was the ball, but as soon as she brushed the illusion it crumbled, revealing the real ball rolling away.
"So we're playing it like that, eh?" she smirks, grabbing the ball and serving it at my face again. The rest of the game plays out with me dodging and scoring, using my Quirk over and over to earn points faster than anyone else. Right at the end, Bakugou hits the ball perfectly despite my illusion, nailing me directly in the face.
"AGAIN WITH THE FACES!!" I shout, holding my nose. It wasn't broken, just bleeding. Aoyama calls time and I sit down, making sure I don't leave blood on the sand. Eijiro rushes over, making sure I'm okay before turning to Bakugou.
"Dude, she's our friend! Why would you-"
I silence him with a look.
"I was on the other team, it's fine."
He looks ready to argue, but stops himself. I smile broadly, taking my hand away from my still bleeding nose.
"Come on, I can wash it off and we'll go back in the water," I say, standing up and walking to the public water hose. Running the water over my face, I also rub my hand clean of blood. When I'm sure it's stopped and I've gotten all the blood off, I creep down to the water. Eijiro hasn't noticed me yet, instead brooding by himself. I barely give him any time to react, leaping on his back and making us tumble over eachother.
"(Y/N), why!" he shouts when we surface, but he means it in a playful way. Pressing my lips against his for a second, I wrap my arms around his waist. When I pull away, I bury my head in his chest.
"Because you looked sad. Now be happy!" I command as he tries to hide his face. I could tell he had forgiven Bakugou, though, and let go of him before Sero had a chance to tackle him again. The day passes quickly, turning to dusk before we knew it. At one point, Jiro had talked to Aizawa about not feeling like she was fitting in. He had conviced her to talk to Yaoyorozu, who was more than happy to spend time with her. Dadzawa is proud.
"Alright everyone, out of the water!" Aizawa calls and we all swim to shore. Wrapping my towel around myself, I sit on the sand as Aizawa and Sero start up a barbeque. We sit around chatting with eachother before being called over for helpings. The meal was the fish that Tsu had caught when she wasout in the deeper water. It was literally the best thing I had ever eaten, screw pasta, this was amazing!
"Heh, we should cook Kaminari next! He looks like a lobster!" Eijiro calls, and I chuckle. It was true, Denki did indeed look like a lobster. He was so intensely sunburnt that it hurt to even look at him.
"This is why you wear sunscreen..." Yaoyorozu mumbles, pressing her hand to her forehead. I laugh at him as he shuffles uncomfortably, then winces in pain.
"Shut up, (Y/N)..." he mutters, staring at the ground like a naughty child.
"'Chicks loooooove a tan hunk,' right, Denki?" I laugh, making him sag further.
"Alright I'll stop," I say, finishing my fish and reaching for another before someone else can take it. We finish the food and somehow manage to make it to the bus despite our food comas. it was only when we arrived at the gate that I realised we had left Mineta behind.
"Eh he'll be fine," I mutter quietly, waddling home and falling asleep right after I close the door, not even bothering to make it to my room.
