Ch. 2 - Lifesaver Scott

Smajor1995
Scott still tried to comprehend what he had just read. Perma-killed? Uh oh. Boogeyman? Didn’t sound good either. He put his communicator in his pocket. He needed to find other players to team up with. And that quick, ending up alone was a thought he certainly disliked. Suddenly Scott’s vision went blurry and then turned black. Numbers appeared in front of him, and he realized he was about to get his lives. To confirm it, Scott heard a distant voice telling him that he would get his lives. Seeing as the numbers went slower, Scott held his breath when he saw that he would get either six or four lives. And as the lucky man he was, he got six lives. Phew.

He swiftly chopped down some trees and crafted a couple of tools for later. He then hurried off towards the mountains he could see in the horizon. Hopefully there was someone there, and if not he could get a great view of the server from the top of the mountain to see what he was dealing with. It would take him quite a while to get there, it was more far away than he had assumed. He stopped halfway and decided to do something else, like mining. He would probably find someone later on anyway. He built his starter base, a very small shed out of oak wood surrounded by trees. It was really ugly, but he didn’t really have time to make some good, did he?

He was just about to search for a cave when his vision got blurry and slowly turned black, just as when he was assigned his six lives. He recalled something about the ‘boogeyman’, and wondered if it was about to be chosen. And he was right.
‘You are...’
‘NOT the boogeyman’
Scott released a breath that he never realized he held, and thanked the Gods for being so lucky. Others didn’t have the same luck though, he was sure of that.

He suddenly heard the noise of a player being hurt and quickly ran over to where the sound had came from. He saw Scar lying on the ground, and he was injured.

“Why am I so clumsy?” Scar grunted. “I fell down from the mountain,” he explained.

“Are you okay? Don’t tell me you fell down from the very top of it,” Scott said, looking at the big mountain in front of him. If he did fall from the top, Scott would be surprised that he still was alive.

“No, but I was at least halfway. I guess it’s not a good idea to live up there,” Scar sighed.

“Definitely not! If you had been any higher up, you could have lost your first life!” Scott lectured him.

“Well, I am on two hearts,” Scar commented. Scott opened his inventory and gave Scar a couple of apples he had.

“Try not to get injured this early. We barely have any resources,” Scott advised. “I suppose I need to take care of you now.”

“Yeah, I could really use some help. Maybe we can form an alliance, and promise that we will never betray each other? The strongest alliance of them all?” Scar suggested.

“Woah, I can help you but forming the strongest alliance of them all isn’t really something you do right after you meet, am I right? I have barely spoken to you, I’m in Empires and you’re in Hermitcraft, and that’s that.”

“Fine. Do you have your base anywhere close?” Scar asked. Scott nodded.

“Follow me,” he said, but Scar grimaced as he tried to get up and then immediately fell to the ground again.

“I think I might have broken a rib or two,” he explained with an apologetic smile, and Scott groaned. This would take way longer than he had expected. He grabbed Scar hand and dragged him into a standing position, and then let Scar lean on him for support. Together they walked to Scott’s base, and Scott crafted a bed that Scar could rest on. Scar fell asleep quickly and Scott leaned against a wall, wiping the sweat from his forehead. At least he had somewhat of an alliance now, though he had refused to form the strongest alliance of them all. He wanted to be friends with everyone, or at least have a group of people that he could trust.

Scott sat there for a while, watching the sky as it turned darker. When it turned nighttime Scott got out of the house and closed his door, hoping that no mob would get to Scar who was healing. He fought off a couple of zombies, skeletons and creepers, then he decided to go mining. He still only had wooden tools, which wasn’t so good. After a while of mining, he heard a sudden cry of help. It came from somewhere below him, and without thinking he started to break Minecraft rule #1 (A/N: I surely don’t need to tell you what that is, right?) in hope to reach the person crying for help. He didn’t have to break it for long until he fell down in a bigger cave, and even though he took a bit of fall damage he managed to see the person that needed help. Joel was cornered by a bunch of different mobs and he was badly injured.

Scott had been mining for quite a while, so he had full iron gear on him, other than Joel that only had an iron sword and leather boots. Scott could easily fight off all the mobs and didn’t take as much damage as he had expected. Who knew he was such a good mob slayer?

“Are you okay?” Scott asked, just as he had asked Scar when he found him.

“Not really, but I’m alive and that’s something.” Joel’s face was twisted with pain.

“You can rest in my base if you want to,” Scott said.

“Ah yes, I would love to,” Joel nodded. “But uh, mind to help me a little bit?”

Scott opened his inventory to see if he had something that could help Joel’s healing process, but he could only find some cooked chicken.

“I hope this will do,” Scott said and gave the chicken to Joel, who ate it immediately. Scott crafted a bunch of ladders in his crafting table and started mining upwards, which was just as bad as mining downwards, lava could pour down on him any second. Scott successfully made a long ladder that went all the way up to the grass and helped Joel climb it. Fortunately, Joel’s legs wasn’t hurt so it wasn’t much of a challenge. When they finally had reached the surface, Scott showed Joel his very ugly starter base. Scar was still asleep when they got in, and Scott crafted another bed that Joel could sleep in. He got a feeling of deja vu, and hoped he at least had an alliance now. It wasn’t easy to be lifesaver Scott.

A/N:
Why was this chapter so funny to write? Okay but seriously, I got a lot of inspiration from session 8, I’m not gonna spoil anything but well yeah, the ones who have watched session 8 might get the reference. Or not.

The Scar moment was so iconic though,*casually starts talking about Last Life and 3rd Life spoilers*.

I struggled to come up with a good title for the chapter, but personally I think this title is epic.

By the way, I feel like I’ve been kind of neglecting my HC fic, I’ve been focusing on this one more. What do y’all think, should I focus on this book, HC or find some kind of balance between them?

Aha-dventure aha-waits!
