(Y/N) POV

I held on to a person in a cyan suit as I felt tears run down my face

Why...why'd you have to go?

Her limp body hit my heart like a freight train

My vision suddenly gets hit with flashing red lights as I wake up.

"All hands prepare for emergency repairs, all hands prepare for emergency repairs," the system blurs in my room as I rush out of bed.

I open my door and instantly headed toward Command

"What's up!" I yell over the speakers as Newt looks at me

"The reactor is having a meltdown!" He yells over the alarm as he passes me a manual.

"Come on mate," he says as we sprint to the reactor room.

Newt was practically sliding on his knees as we reached the reactor, there was no delay between our arrival and him getting the basic panels out to find out the issues.

"The code!" Newt yells as he starts spitting out random numbers. I open the manual as I look at the error codes

"Cooling failure!" I yell as he curses

"What?" I ask as he looks at me

"Find the code required to shut it down," he says grimly as I frown

"But that leaves us with no power," I protest as he nods

"The battery should keep us alive for a short while," he mutters under his breath as we find the access panel and I tell him the code

He smashes enter as all the lights cut off

I fiddle around my helmet until I find the button for our emergency lights on our suits.

Me and Newt both turn our lights at the same time and instantly head to electrical.

We arrived and started switching levers and whatnot on.

First, we turned on all the lights so we could see better. From there we discussed what to do, just me and him.

What operations were needed to survive and cutting the power to tasks that didn't impact our survival

The last switch was turning the main lights off in favour of the low-powered emergency ones.

They lighted up the corridors an eery red hue, and they were way less bright than the main ones

"Meet me in the cafeteria," he mutters as I nod. I follow his direction as he announces a meeting.

Within 5 minutes everyone was gathered in the same place

"What's happening?" Tia asks as Newt remains silent

"The reactor failed didn't it," Dawson asks as Newt nods

Everyone falls silent

"Me and (Y/N) determined that it was a cooling failure. So we shut it down. Until we find the reason behind the failure, we will be running off the backup batteries. So don't use electricity when you don't need to," Newt explains

"What a mess," Nate mutter as I look at him

"I mean, you're supposed to make this go smoothly right? I've never had an issue like this with the other commanders," he continues

"I mean, how did it get to that state in the first place?" Nate says looking at everyone as we all go silent

"I don't think we should follow someone as incompetent as him," he reasons

"You might have a point," Dawson mutters as I go to speak up but I'm cut off

"But not everyone can shut the reactor down without it melting down," Dawson says as he eyes Nate

"If anything, he and (Y/N) saved us all. It's not Newton's job to watch over the reactor. It's mine, and it appears I must have messed something...I'm sorry," Dawson apologizes

"Hmph," Nate mutters

"At any result, we'll be busy repairing the reactor," Newton says

"We are currently at risk of an infection, we need to get moving fast," Newt says as I nod

"We need our brightest on point for this, so. (Y/N) and Dawson, you two are with me for the repair group," Newt says as I nod

"Why let the person who let this happen go with you?" Nate asks with a snarky voice

"He's more useful than you," Newt shoots back as he leaves. I chuckle a bit as I walkout

"What are you laughing at?" Nate asks defensively

"Oh nothing," I tell him as I leave

Dawson follows suit as we head to reactor bay

"(Y/N)!" Dawson yells as he catches up

"What's up?" I ask him

"I didn't miss something," he says randomly

"Huh?" I say confused

"There's no way I missed an error that would cause the cooling system to fail...it was sabotaged," he whispers as I nod

"I had a feeling," I say as we walk into the room. Newt already had half the thing apart...I'm joking of course.

"So Dawson...lead the way," Newt says as Dawson takes over the reins

"It was impressive you two shut it down so quick," he says as I smirk

"Teamwork, we know each other well," Newt answers as he laughs. Dawson then tells Newt what he told me

"I was thinking the same," Newton says as Dawson nods

"A cooling system doesn't fail only a week after a depart, they only fail after a month with poor maintenance, and can last forever with a good one," Dawson continues

"Culprit?" Newt asks

"My first choice would be Nate, but hard to separate his personality to any danger signs," Dawson reasons as they turn to me

"You think we got one on board?" I ask we all look at each other

"A parasite?" Dawson asks scared

"Yea," I finish as we all gulp

I hear a clash from outside the door.

I rush to see who it is to see a Cyan suit on the ground with buckets rolling on the ground

"Sorry!" She apologizes

"You heard right?" I ask as she goes silent

"N-n-no," she says

"I'm not stupid," I say as I help her up and then drag her into the room.

Newt and Dawson seemed a bit shocked when I brought her in

"I'm sorry...I didn't mean to overhear but I couldn't move my body...it just stayed here listening," she says

"Well," Newt says as he looks at

"Looks like we can work together," he says as we all nod

It starts once again
