TRUMP(ed): A political thriller for those who remember Watergate, or at least know about it. 

This is a work of speculative fiction.

outline & notes: 

the 2016 election was rigged.  hacked. 

not just the campaigning, the voting.

the voting system was hacked multiple times, & in various ways, exploiting different security weaknesses in different places.

but subtly, only in a few districts, & only a limited number of votes compared to the total numbers.  

but enough, JUST enough,  to tip the outcome.

(that's why trump won so many key states, by very small margins. one after the other... ) 

putin & co & their apparatus did the deed;  they've rigged enough elections in russia, & they have the hackers. 

some ppl in the trump campaign knew, some suspected. 

stuff like trump (trying to) pull out of syria & just GIVE it to the russias, is part of putin's "payoff" for helping (& not harming, i.e.: blackmailing) trump.  trump totally denies this, with his usual trademark bullshit/bluster/excuses & diversions; but actions like the sudden, unilateral syria withdrawal make people more & more suspicious, & they start to ask questions & look into things...
