CHAPTER 10| Dumbledore Said Calmly
We all waited in the Great Hall eating our dinner. I was eating my pudding when it just vanished; rude. And then the Goblet would soon start choosing the names; Victor Krum and Fleur from Dumstrang and Beauxbaton respectively and Cedric from Hogwarts. The air was filled with cheers from all three schools. Poor Harry did not know what was to come; I just sat there waiting for Harry's name to come from the goblet. And then it did. The large goblet shone with its pink-blue flame and the hall waited in silence as Dumbledore took out the name from the goblet. Dumbledore's face showed a mixture of confusion and anger.
He said, "Harry Potter?" No one moved; just a few hushed whispers. "HARRY POTTER?" he bellowed. Hermione pushed him forward and Dumbledore looked at Harry; no trace of the usual twinkle in his eyes. As the champions got into the Room in the back of the Great Hall, everyone started talking about how Harry entered the tournament. You could see the anger in the other houses, Gryffindors' happy cheers because a fellow Gryffindor entered the tournament, Hermione's worried and confused face and Ron's jealousy. "Coming?" asked Fred and George. "You guys can go. I'll wait for Harry." It was just sad, that he had just been as shocked as everyone else, but no one believed him. I sat there waiting for him out the room. With the amount of time I had spent with him and the Weasleys, they had become my family; my brothers and sisters. A hour or so passed and out came a shaking Harry; both with furry and fear.
"Hi", he said in a small voice that did not sound like him. "Hi there Harry. All good? Wait, that's not a question to be asked now is it?" "I'm scared. Dumbledore and Hermione told about the death rate and the dangerous tasks. Dumbledore was so angry. Why can't I have a normal year?" He said with his head in his hands. I gave a small smile, "Cause' your Harry freaking Potter. And the boy who lived never has a normal school year does he?" He gave a small smile. "All I ever wanted to be normal. Not the boy who lived. Not famous or anything; just a normal 14 year old boy going home every summer to their parents, spending Christmas with them. Maybe even a sister or brother."
"You might be the 'Boy Who Lived' for everyone else, but for me, you're my dear brother Harold. Remember that you have family here Harry. The Weasleys, me, Sirius, we're all here for you."
"Thanks. Why are you so obsessed with calling me 'Harold'?" He asked. I just shrugged. We walked back to the common room, where a literal party was going on. Fred, George and a lot of other Gryffindors came over and started annoying Harry to tell them how he got his name into the goblet. I went over to them when I saw Harry's troubled face and said, "Guys just stop it. He did not enter. And before you ask, No. I don't know how his name got in there either. You shall all stop asking him right now or I'll hex you all into oblivion." Everyone was surprised by my outburst. I was the goody two shoes in everyone's eyes (except for the Weasleys, Harry and Hermione who knew about my prank involvements) and the calm person with almost all the solutions. There was silence for a minute before everyone went back to the party.
"Why does no one believe me?" Harry asked. I replied, "Well. It's kinda hard to believe that your name magically fell into the goblet. But listen here, I believe you. I know that someone put your name in. I'll be there to help you throughout. And guess what? Hermione believes you too."
"She did not talk to me since my name got picked. And what about Ron? My best mate doesn't believe me." He said with a sigh. "Hermione's just over whelmed and confused. She's probably already started researching on the tournament. And Ron's just an arse. Give him time and he'll come around. That offer on the hex is applicable to everyone." I said. Harry gave a small laugh and we went to our respective dorms.
The next day I woke up and the beds next to me where empty. I looked at the time and it was already 8. I got up brushed my teeth had a shower and ran down to the Great Hall, with my bag. Fred and George were at their usual seat and my space was empty. I sat next to them and was slightly worried if they are mad at me for my outburst. But turns out they weren't and was sorry for asking those questions to Harry. We just forgot about the burst I had yesterday, and carried on with our day.
It was break time and since I and Hermione were the only ones who believed Harry, I walked and talked with him. Hermione was in the library. We were walking, when Draco dramatically jumped from top of the tree. He started, "My father and I have a bet you see. I don't think you'll last ten minutes in this tournament. He disagrees; he doesn't think you'll last five." "Shut up Malfoy." I and Harry said in unison. Honestly I know he turns into a broken teen during his sixth year, but he was a real brat before that. Moody comes and turns him into a ferret. And the whole thing between him and McGonagall happens.
Moody calls Harry and I couldn't come up with a reason to stop him. I saw Ron talking to Seamus and Dean around the corner, and decided to put some sense into him. I went over to him and said, "Ron could we talk?" He nodded and followed.
"What is it?" He asked.
"Ronald what is the reason for you to be acting this way to Harry?"
"What way? He is the one who went and put his name in the goblet. He did not even tell me. He is the boy who lived and I am just his foolish side kick. And why are you talking to me right now? Aren't you on his side?"
"Ronald Weasley, I have no idea how to get this through your thick skull. Neither did Harry put his name in the goblet of fire nor are you his foolish sidekick; you are Ronald Bilius Weasley. And also I'm on no one's side; I'm on the side of truth. And you really think Harry wants all this fame and money? You're wrong my dear friend, because he would switch this life for a family. Heck he would even switch it with a muggle, if he gets a family and not the weight of the entire Wizarding World on his shoulders. Now if you don't get things right with him by the end of the first task... Then you'll see. A wand, a spell and a certain person named Cassie can make a change in Ronald Childish Weasley."
Ron just stood there. Scared? Guilty? I have no idea. "You kinda sound like mum with the whole 'Ronald Weasley'. I don't know. I don't see any reason to trust him. Class is about to start so bye." And he left. I met up with Laura and Katie and we headed for the rest of the classes.
Days passed by and soon it was the weekend. I woke up and got dressed. A maroon-red hoodie and blue jeans to keep the slight chill away (though I liked the cold). I let my hair down and wore a black metal hairband, which camouflaged with the rest of my black hair. I let my side fringe out and put on some eyeliner and mascara. Not too much of prep or makeup; just enough that it looked simple. I walked out to the Great Hall and took a bowl of fruit and toast. I looked over to Luna and then Cedric and gave each of them a nod. We three had decided to hang out just for breakfast before going to Hogsmede.
The three of us went down to the Black Lake. We talked; Cedric about the tournament, Luna about nargles, and me about any topic that came. We then bid goodbye as Cedric went over to Cho Chang and Luna went to hang out with some Ravenclaws. As I was walking I saw a bunch of the French students walking across the lake. As I passed them, one of them greeted, "Bonjour!" "Bonjour!" I greeted back.
"Je m'appelle Adela."
"Je m'appelle Cassie."
"Oh. Zo you speak French?"
"No. That and Oui and maybe two or three other words are all I know in French."
"Could you tell us how to go to Hogsmede?" The girl, Adela said in her French accent.
"Sure. I'm headed there anyways." I was thankful that Molly signed my form and Dumbledore accepted that.
I took the girls around Hogsmede and showed them some of the shops. I then noticed that it was time for me to meet up with Fred and George. I bid goodbye to them and and went to Zonkos. There I notices two indentical red heads and a boy with dreadlocks standing towards the back shelf. I waked over to them. "What took you so long?" Fred asked. " (a) I was helping a buch of the Beauzbaton students around Hogsmede. And (b) I am only five minutes late. I had to walk all the way from the shop at Hogsmede to here." I replied. We bought a bunch of Zonkos items and then went to the Three Broomsticks for some butterbeer.
In a week more would be the first task. I was going to help Harry along with Hermione. And hopefully Ron comes around too.
