71| True Souls

I looked at Harry in confusion. I can't deal with his shit anymore. "I did this fight with you once. I don't want to do it again." I smiled and walked across him.

Harry grabbed my upper arm. "I want answers Cass." he said. His green eyes bore into mine. "My answer remains the same. And if you came a bit earlier to spy on me, you would have seen that Annalise was also there." I spited.

A first year came down the stairs, and Harry let go of my arm. "Harold." I smiled. "You don't need to worry. I know what I'm doing." I repeated what I had told him yesterday.

He nodded. I put my hand on the railing to go upstairs when I heard him call me again.

"Cass?"

"Yeah?"

"What do you know about the Half Blood Prince?"

"Nothing. Who is that?" I asked.
He didn't let it go and kept on nagging me, but I just walked away; his glare boring into my back. I had gotten used to this at this point. Harry was not being a git, he was just trying to save everyone like me.

"Feeling sick again?" asked Anne, looking at me. "Why learn History of Magic?! The more I read, the more I'm forgetting!" I said. My head was held up by my hand, as I looked at Anne; my elbow propped up on the table.

Anne chuckled and passed me the self taken test, which she corrected for me. I enjoyed History of Magic in the starting, and thus decided to take it up for my N.E.W.Ts; what a huge mistake that was.

"What?! Only this much. At this point I'll fail." I said, staring at the paper in Horror. I barely got an Acceptable. "I told you to drop this subject back in October." she stated.

"Don't rub it in my face. I thought I could do it." As months passed, I just seemed to be doing worse.

-----

Easter holidays were going to start tomorrow. Many students were busy packing to leave for the two weeks. Harry, Hermione, Ron and Ginny decided to not go.

Me, Anne and Draco, decided that we would stay at Anne's house. Draco was gonna tell at home that he was at school, working on the Cabinet. As long as no one came from home looking for him, we should be fine.

We needed the time together without being paranoid on whether someone was gonna catch us, to look more into the curse. They were gonna get control, and we had to do something about it.

We boarded the Hogwarts Express, looking at a place in the back of the train to sit in. We didn't talk for a moment, all three of us were never in a compartment together. "We'll have to stop at Diagon Alley. I need to change my Galleons to Pounds." Anne said.

"Take some from me too!" I said, and dug into my bag; taking out my small purse and handing a few galleons to her. "Then I'm also contributing." Draco huffed.

"We are not holding a Charity! It's just for groceries and food!" Anne exclaimed.

"But-" Draco started, but I interrupted "This is the biggest thing you could do." I held up the protective charm that he had given me.

We talked and slept until we reached King's Cross; forgetting all our worries for a just a second. Draco wore a hat to hide his most distinguishable feature; his hair. He pulled the hat down to shadow his face, and then we got off the train. "Okay then. I'm gonna apparate from here. I'll see you in a few minutes." Anne said, taking out her wand.

"Well she should come with you don't you think? It's dangerous out there." Draco said pointing at me.

"One, you don't know where I live. Two, you're underage." Anne stated.

"Who's gonna attack me? The Death Eaters? I am one!" He scoffed.

"But we can't leave out little baby alone, can we Anne?" I asked mockingly.

"Of course not Cassie. He's just a young boy." she mocked back.

"I'm just one year younger." he rolled his eyes.

Anne apparated in a second, and then I raised my hand for Draco to take. "I'm taking you here, cause' I trust. You'll regret it, if you ever break my trust." I looked at him. He nodded, and then within a second we landed in the green meadows near Anne's home.

The little house just made sense there. It looked like something google would give, when we type in 'beautiful house in meadows'.

I held his hand, and took him past the protective barrier. Only the Weasley's (except Percy as per their request), Remus, Sirius, Me and Terrance, apart from Anne of course, could enter the house, without someone allowing them in.

"I opened the door, and the peculiar smell of a closed house hit me. The house was pretty neat, considering that no one had been in it since many months. "You're gonna help me clean. I can't sit in this dust." I told him.

We got to work. With magic, it was done in around 10 minutes. During this time, I also floated up a bed frame and matress, for Draco to sleep in. Around 10 minutes later, Anne had reached home.

"What took you so long?" I asked. "I saw Fred and George, and stood for a chat." she said.

------

It got dark, and we starting to get hungry. We wanted to get out of the house, and show Draco a bit of Muggle life. Using the transfigurations spells we learned, we changed his hair colour to brown, and change his eye colour to brown too, seeing that it was the easiest spell for us to do.

We walked to a small pizza place that was quiet close to Anne's house. A women in her, who looked like she was in her 20's came forward to us-smiling wildly. She had short straight blonde hair with a layer cut style, which she had tied into two messy pigtails.

"Ohmygod!" she rushed her words. "Annalise! Long time no see!" she grinned. She tucked her notebook into the pocket of her red apron. "Hey Cassie! I was at school. Are there any corner seats for three?" Anne smiled. Wait, is the waitress called Cassie too?

She gave us a seat and handed us the menu and then went to attend other customers. The place was packed with a bunch of people. "Is that a Pizza?" he asked, pointing to a table which had a family of four, who had just gotten their food. Me and Anne nodded, and then decided to stick to 2 cheese pizzas.

I asked Anne about the waitress. "I used to come here a lot, when I was kid and when I moved here. We studied at the same school, but we never met tho. We kind of became friends over the years." She explained. We talked a bit more of happier things, and then the food arrived.

I served the three of us a slice, and then Anne and Me started at Draco. He picked up the pizza, and then looked up at us "Stop staring at me."

"Try it!" I urged. He bit a piece of. "Soo?" asked Anne. Draco shrugged. "You tried muggle food for the first time, and your response was a shrug?!" I asked.

"Not just any muggle food, it's pizza!" Anne gasped. Draco chuckled at out faces, and continued eating. We then got out of the store, after Anne talked a bit more to the other Cassie.

It was kinda dark, as we reached towards the outside of the town; closer to Anne's house. Suddenly someone leaped onto me. I didn't get the chance to turn back, when Draco pushed him against one of the trees. His arm was against the chest of the person, and Anne and I had drawn out our wands.

He let out a huff. "Calm down man!" he said at Draco. "It's me Cass." I cast a quick Lumos and looked up at his face. Draco let go and Anne lowered her wand. "Terrance! What are you doing here?!" I asked, straightening his shirt. "Remus told me you were here, so I came here." He said. We had told back home, that we would be coming. About what we would do with Draco when they arrive? I didn't really think of that.

Me and Anne asked him questions, and then confirmed that it was him. Anne and Draco were walking in front of me and Terrance. "Soo who's the new guy?" asked Terrance. "My friend." I replied.

"Oh. I thought it was your enemy, and you went for a nice stroll with him."

I rolled my eyes. "He's umm Tom Smith." I replied, thinking of the hotel visit a few months ago. "Another Smith?" He asked.

"Smith's a very common last name you know? I even met a Cassie today!"

"Well I like him." He said, and I gave him a confused look. "Well he certainly tried to protect you from a stranger who jumped on you." He said, pointing to himself at the word 'stranger'.

We walked over to the house. We didn't want the ministry to get track of Draco at all.
——-

Once we got to the house, everyone except Terrance was tired. We all decided to head to bed.

"I'll take the couch" said Draco. "You take my room. You need to sleep properly." Said Anne.

"Nah.... I'll take the couch." I said.

"Where do I sleep then?" Grumbled Terrance.

"You'll sleep in the kitchen." I joked. He pouted at that.

We then got it sorted with me and Terrance in my room, Draco in Anne's room, and Anne offered to sleep on the couch. She said that Draco needed the comfortable sleep, after days if not months of sleepless nights.

——
"I missed you so much." I whispered to Terrance, who was laying next to me on the bed.

"I missed you more." He whispered back.

"But I missed you infinity times infinity."

He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. We both laid on our sides, staring into each others eyes.

"Terrance?" I asked.

"Hmm?" He hummed back.

"Are you hiding something?" I asked wearily.

"Hiding something?" He asked.

"You can tell me anything you know?"

"Of course I know"

"The past year we were growing so distant. And I-" I breathed out. "And I thought whether you know? Whether you would want to break up with me."

"Of course not! Who told you that?"

"So you want me?" I asked. What was getting into me?

"I don't want you." He said and my eyes widened a bit. "I need you." He continued. "With all those unanswered letters, I thought you were ignoring me." I confessed.

"I wasn't. It's been a hard year, and I never got the energy to write letters back. Why write letters when I can see you live?" We talked for long; all our worries and confessions about ourselves and the other. We both leaped onto each other almost, our lips hungrily pressed onto each other.

He trailed kisses down my jawline onto my neck. Comfortable with each other, the night went wild.

———-
I woke up suddenly, as if my alarm had rung. The sunlight beamed into the room, and that's when I saw why had I waken up. I saw Sirius walking towards the house. The protection charm around the house would alert me and Anne when someone crossed barrier.

That's when I also really noticed the condition we were in. Clothes were thrown across the room. I quickly changed into a T-shirt and pants and then shook Terrance awake. There was a knock on the door.

"This is my last call. Get up now or we're both gonna be dead." Terrance groaned angrily, my opened his eyes slightly. "You're dressed?" He said sleepily.

"Sirius is here." I said , and at those words, he jumped off the bed. "Put on some clothes will you?!" I asked.

"That's not what you said last night" he grinned cheekily. I glared at him and rushed out the room when I heard Sirius yell from outside "Is no one home?"

"Coming coming!" I yelled and ran towards the door. Anne had woken up by my voice, and mouthed 'Draco' to her. She grumpily got up and went to her room.

I opened the door. After asking some questions, I let him in. "Heard Walter is here." He said.

"Yes he is. Why?"

"Where did he sleep last night?" He asked.

"Oh hello Cass? How are you cub? I'm well thanks Sirius, how are you?" I mocked.

"Relax, he slept on the couch." I said pointing to the blankets from which Anne had gotten up a few seconds ago.

"But that's Anne's bla-" he started. "Didn't have breakfast did you?" I interrupted.

"No I'm starving." He said.

I went up to brush my teeth and take a shower, I returned back and made the staple food of the Smith-May household- Pancakes.

"Don't you eat anything else other than this" Sirius asked we served a pancake to him.

"You see Sirius, this is the best lazy people food." Anne chuckled.

I sneaked a few pancakes and some tea for Draco, past Sirius.

"Thanks." Draco said, as I gave him the food. "So... Walter and you seemed to have fun last night." He grinned. I looked at him I'm disbelief.

"Don't look so shocked. Anne didn't give you that hickey did she?" He said pointing at my neck.

"Shit!" I said, as I covered my neck with my hand. "Do you think Sirius saw it?" I asked.

"Prolly not. If what you tell me about him is true, then Walter would've already been dead."

"Cass? Are you in there?" I heard Terrance from outside the door. I pushed Draco underneath the bed, and pushed the plate of food too. I opened the door. "Anything wrong?" He asked. "No. Why?" I asked.

"You look pink." He said. I'm pretty sure I turned red by that. "So umm I'll be going out for a while. I'm going to meet some off my friends. I'll be back soon." He smiled.

That's when I remembered something that I wanted to ask him. "By the way, is Roge home for Easter?" I asked.

"R-roger?"

"Yes..."

"Why?" He asked.

"We'll times are getting dark and I want to see my friends." I shrugged. Honestly, what is wrong with him?

"Umm no. He's not home."

"Any whereabouts on him?"

"Sent a few letters asking about you and stuff. That's it." He said. "I'm getting late, see you later." he smiled and went out the door. Taking the opportunity of Terrance and Sirius being far from home, the three of us went down with our books down to the dining area.

We were flipping through the pages of books, hoping to get any new information; but the only information was what we already knew. It kept recurring in all the books we red so far.

"Cass?" Draco asked. Both me and Anne stopped reading, and looked at him.

"Didn't you say that you felt the curse go away when Anne was close to you?" He asked.

"Not really go away, but like- umm it felt like I was dominant over it during those times. Why?"

"Well, just a theory but to confirm, did you get any attacks when you were in different classes and stuff?"

"Not really. I slowly learned to control it, and I guess Walburga found out, cause' she increased the power of the curse."

"Just, a theory. But I think you and Anne are true souls." He said. Anne and me raised an eyebrow in confusion. "I think you and Anne are soulmates." he continued.

"WHAT?!" Me and Anne exclaimed.

"Look." He said, and pointed at the page he was reading.

It talked about something called true souls and blood bonds. Blood bonds, would give a part of the curse to the other; making it way less powerful. However, both would have to carry the consequences of the curse.

"You guys weren't stupid enough to do a blood bond were you?" Draco asked. "Don't think we're so thoughtless Malfoy." Anne said, still staring at the page.

The soulmate part made much more sense. When one's true soul is found, they can overcome some dark magic. So magic folk believe that one person's soul is complete only once their true soul is found.

Superstition or not, it made sense in my case. "I-I mean it does make sense." Anne sighed.

"So... the only cure here is for her to always be next to me?" I asked, and Draco nodded wearily.

I was about to turn the page, when Draco grabbed the book away from me.

"Draco...." I crawled.

"Yes?" He asked.

"Give me the book"

"No! It's mine"

"Technically it's the wizard of library's." Said Anne.

I grabbed the book back and read through the pages. Draco had his head down and Anne was looking at me curiously.

"We're doing it then!" I said.

"No you're not." Said Draco. "What's happening?!" Asked Anne.

"It says it's the only way."

"Didn't you read the blood bind part?" He asked.

"Yes. True souls doing the blood bond makes it safer right?" I asked.

"No! When we're doing the blood bond, many people have died Cass!"

"Maybe they're not compatible." I said.

"Who even knows if you're soulmates?! I just gave a theory!"

"I'm sure. We'll never know until we try." Anne said.

"If you try and it goes wrong, you'll never know. You'll die and that's the end of it. You're a Hufflepuff I thought you lot were not as stupid as the Gryffindors!"

"Hey!" I exclaimed.

We kept on arguing. "How strong do you think I am? Just because my task is something, it doesn't mean I am a powerful wizard." No one else would be willing to do it for us. And either way, Draco wouldn't let us go through with it.

We suddenly heard a knock on the door. Anne peeped through the window. "It's Remus." She said. I opened the door, and a tired looking Remus smiled. "Hello Casserole."

"Remus!" I exclaimed and leaped in for a hug. "It's been so long."

"Sirius said he would meet me hear, and said to keep and eye on you." He said, and came inside the house. He saw Draco, and looked at me; hoping to tell him who he was.

"A friend of ours." I said. "Sirius knows he's here?" Remus asked.

"He doesn't." Anne said, as she went into the kitchen to get some water. "Oh.. You're gonna get in trouble when he finds out." He asked.

"Well... he's just like that with Terrance I guess." I said, and shook my head. We talked for a bit more, and then Remus sat around reading a book, and the three of us went to do our homework and stuff in Anne's room.

"Do you have your potions book?" Draco asked me. "Yes, it's either in my drawer, or in my trunk." I replied. He was doing an extra credit assignment, and wanted more information.

Less than a minute later, we heard a loud bang, and a roar. We went over to my room, and saw Sirius glaring at Draco. "Who is this boy?!" he asked. Remus had also reached here by now.

"My friend."

"And who did you ask before bringing him here?!"

"Anne."

"What about me?"

"We're the ones living here!"

I saw Draco lightly hiss, and hold his arm. "It's fine. I'll just leave." He said. "Not so fast!" Sirius told him. "Padfoot, you do know she's not a mini you. Right?" Remus said, smirking.

"What does that mean?" Me, Anne and Sirius asked. I also saw Draco slip past in the distraction. "The Ravenclaw girl and the Gryffindor one situation?" He asked. "That- I umm." Sirius sputtered. His hands flew up in the air, and then he stormed off.

"What actually was it?" I asked Remus. "It's kind of a long story." Remus said. "Don't you dare, Lupin." Sirius growled from across the room, as he grumpily sat on the sofa.

"Tell it!" Anne exclaimed in excitement. "Well, these two girls used to always gawk at Sirius, and one day they both asked him out at different times. He just couldn't say no, and ended up dating both of them, and blah blah blah." Remus said.

There was a knock on the door. "Why did everyone decide to come here today?" Anne sighed, and went to open the door. "Dumbledore?" she asked.

"Nice to meet you Miss May. Is Cassie in here?" he asked. I rushed forward. "Hi Professor." I smiled. "I would like to talk to you about something." He said.

I looked at Remus and Sirius and they gave an approving nod. Dumbledore looked around, and said "Not here. The Dark Lord's people are every where."

He gave his hand, and I took it wearily. We apparated, and I landed into a cold dark room. "Hey Smith." someone said happily.

"Dumbledore?" I turned, but there was no one there, where once Dumbledore stood. "I must've put out some great acting, for you to think I really was him." The Dumbledore said.

Nothing made sense right now. Where was I? Who were these people?
