59| Fire Whiskey

The house was filled with love and loudness. There was the Weasleys, Sirius, Remus, Anne and myself all in the huge house of Blacks, and Terrance would join us by lunch.

Breakfast wasn't ready yet, and as per Molly I was to clean the empty room that no one uses upstairs. It was really dusty, and dust and me never got along. The moment I got in and arranged a few things, I started having a sneezing fit. I had to get out every minute to blow out my nose, and it wasn't productive. In the end, I tied a bandana on my face like a mask and got the job done in an hour.

I had kept a box aside while clearing the things. My guess was that it belonged to Sirius, as it had S.B on it. The letters were carved roughly, and it clashed with the intricate and elegant designs on the box. I took it downstairs with me, as I hoped it would bring joy to someone.

I saw Sirius sitting in the parlour and reading a book. It was Remus' favourite book, and I gave it a 3.5 rating; not really my type. "Dad?" I called doubtfully.

"Did you just call me dad?" he asked with a smile on his face.

"Maybe.... You said how you wanted to be my dad. And you adopted me so...-"

"I love it!" he said happily as I had given a candy to a 3 year old.

"Well... I think I have something that might've belonged to you." I handed him the box.

"My old box. I missed it! Mother took it away, and I couldn't find it when I escaped to James'" his face showed both the joy of reuniting with the box, but also the sorrow of missing a friend as dear and close as a brother.

"Come here. Let's go through it together." he said, as he patted the seat next to him.

"You sure? I mean you can have your time-"

"It will be some bonding time" he suggested. My heart melted a bit at his words, and I felt closer to him; a lot more than before.

He opened it and there was a bunch of stuff inside. The box was small; about the size of a tissue box. He took out a picture that sat at the top. It was a group of students in Hogwarts uniform, and the castle being a background. I recognized most off the people in it. The marauders, Lilly and Alice's faces were familiar. Sirius pointed to the others and said that they were Marlene, Dorcus Meadows, and annoyingly pointed to a tiny figure of Snape, who was passing by in the back.

Everyone looked happy. We went through a few more pictures. Some were just normal, in some the marauders were doing funny faces and a few had them doing pranks. It was fun looking through them, and Sirius explaining the pictures. In between somewhere, Remus joined us too. We got done with the box, but I sat there listening to Remus and Sirius enthusiastically chatting about their Hogwarts days.

Molly soon called us for breakfast and we had a fun meal with a lot of talking.

-------

Terrance was supposed to reach an hour and a half ago, but never did. I was fretting around the room. He normally travelled by muggle bus, which dropped him at Grimmalud Place. He then found the magical home of Grimmauld Place 12.

Remus and Sirius was trying to find out what happened.

"Don't worry." said Remus.

"Why won't I worry?" I asked, stressed.

"There was an accident on the road. Weird wind and bombing the muggle say. But looking at the destruction, it was definitely Death Eaters."

"Anyone injured?" asked me and Anne.

"As far as the news. No. We just have to wait longer."

20 minutes passed at there was knock on the door.

"I'll get it." I said (or rather screamed because it was loud and everyone was eating whatever treats that Molly made).

"Terrance!" I said happily, and greeted him with a warm hug and a kiss.

"I missed you." he said, still in the hug.

"Me too."

"Oh Dear. How wonderful to see you. Did anyone get hurt in what happened?" asked Molly.

"No Mrs. Weasley. Everyone was fine in the bus. But the people in the building that blew up weren't" he said, shrugging a bit at the thought.

"Get in and freshen up. I've made some special goodies for you." said Molly.

"Better come fast though. Ron and Harry might actually finish the whole thing." I joked.

"We heard that." came the voices of Harry and Ron.

I helped Terrance take his trunk upstairs. And then got back down.

Later on we talked over tea, about the things we've missed. It was really nice to have him close by again.

-----

It was the morning of 23 December. I joined Fred and George in the shop, since business was booming. It was also an excuse for me to go out, and also get a few prank supplies. I rarely used them, but prank supplies could be used in fighting war too you know?

While going back home we entered shops to buy things for Christmas. Molly had asked us in the morning, and gave me a long list of things to buy. We brought the things on the list, and then went to buy some wine and fire-whisky (which Sirius added on in the last minute, without asking Molly).

"Wait. Why are we buying 3 bottle?" I asked. Sirius just needed one.

"One was asked my Sirius. One by your darling boyfriend. And the last one is for us three to enjoy." Fred said.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah. Promise." replied George.

"Ya.... I'm not drinking that."

"Why? We're practically of age."

"Sirius would kill me." I laughed. So would've my parents that I left in the future. 'No alcohol until you're done with college or around 25 years.' I heard my dad's voice.

"Well... he loves you too much to actually do that." said Fred.

"But-"

"No buts." said Fred and George.

------

We got back home and gave the things to Molly, Terrance and Sirius. Sirius went over to Remus and whispered something in his ears, and Remus said something. Though the only words I could hear was 'drunk Padfoot?'

Terrance had a different expression. He told me to take the things I want from my room by 8. He asked me to not enter my room till 9. Though confused, I agreed.

We all got busy packing presents and stuff. I was on low budget because of blowing of all my money on that magic leaf. I decided to get something small for close family and stick to cards for the rest of the order, and the Weasley members like Charlie, Bill and Percy who I was not that close to.

As I made the card, I was really thankful magic. A few small sticking spells and stuff really did the job. My mind flashed back to my old life. I loved making cards and so did Alice. We always made cards for each other on the other's birthday. I also remembered making cards for Mr. Walker for his birthday on August 24th.

We always made it together. She would be home from Hogwarts and we spend everyday catching up on playing and talking. We also always made a mess and I can still hear my mum scolding me for not cleaning up.

"Hey everything okay?" asked Anne as she slowly entered.

"Yeah.. just old memories." I sighed.

"Wanna talk about it?"

"That would be great."

She looked at me and gave a shrug that said 'go on.'

"You know Alice?" I had told her that day about my life. The only other 'child' other than Fred and George to know about my secret (we're ignoring Draco because he is a death eater, and he obvi knows).

She hummed a yes.

"We loved making cards and stuff. She would be home for Christmas and we made cards for all the nearby neighbours and family. Our mum's used to scold us for the mess. And we would be covered from head to toe in glue and glitter."

"That sounds fun." she laughed.

"The scolding wasn't. But once we had a glitter fight. I was covered in green glitter, and it took hours for me to remove everything from my body."

"Me and my brother used to fight a lot too. Once my mother even jokingly threatened to send my brother away to Nana's if he ever fought with me when I was back from Hogwarts. He cried that night thinking my parent's hated him. They took us to have Ice-cream and gave him 2 scoops. You should've seen the smile on his face."

We talked about more stuff. Though both our stories were from different centuries, we shared one feeling. The feeling of emptiness that comes when you miss your loved ones; your family. Her family was away and she rarely contacted them in fear of the shadow of war in the wizarding world, and the time it took for messages to come and go.

I could however not even sent letters to them. They didn't even no I existed, they never knew I was their daughter.

THIRD PERSON POV:

9:05 pm. Terrance called up Cassie to her room, and Cassie jumped in for a hug in her excitement. There was a table at the corner of her room. A small one with no chairs, so that you had to sit on the floor. 2 green cushions on the floor to sit at the table, and the table covered with a white cloth. A small vase held one flower, and two glasses were on the table.

"Is this date?" Cassie asked laughing.

"I hoped it was."

"Well.... what are we standing here for?"

They sat down at the table, and Terrance took out a bottle.

"Fire Whisky?!" Cassie asked in surprise.

"Yeah... So?"

"I don't think I can drink."

"Technically you are of age."

"Yes... But I'm not allowed to."

"Says the one who sneaked out the castle a couple of times, stole gillyweed from Snape, fought in the ministry-"

"Okay. Okay I get it. But hide the bottle if Sirius or Remus comes in ya?"

"Sure. M'lady."

And so they drank and talked. Cassie didn't enjoy it at first, but as her mind got carried away and fuzzy she was fine with the taste. Terrance however was still on his first glass, though he poured more for Cassie.

The bottle was half done. But Terrance knew that neither should drink more, if they wanted to be alive. "Let's go for a walk." he suggested, and held Cassie by the arm. Tipsy Cassie got up, still mumbling and saying random stuff.

They got down the silently and went out the door. It was about 11 something now, and everyone went to sleep. But Cassie dragged Terrance over to a bench in the back of the house and sat there.

"Did you know Terry? That Anne is the best human on earth?" she told; her words slurred.

"She should be. Why else would she be your best friend."

"She's absolutely stunning isn't she?"

"She's not bad I guess." he said confusingly.

"Oh my god! Anne would kill me if she saw me now." she squealed and laughed.

"If you're too loud, then she'll definitely kill me too." he laughed.

"And don't you think everyone is so sweet here?"

"Of course they are. Now let's go for a walk and sober up."

"You sure walking sobers people up?"

"Yeah." he said as if it's the most obvious thing ever. They went back the front, and he put his hand on the gate when a voice said from behind.

"Were do you think you're going with her?" asked an angry Anne in her pajamas.

"Really? Pink princess Pajamas?" he joked.

"Don't laugh. It's Cassie's anyways. Answer my question though."

"No where. We were going for a walk."

"When she's like this?!"

"Yes.... I'm here. Thought she'll like it."

"Cass definitely likes adventure. But you know how many people are after her. You can't fight of ten death eaters while protecting a drunk Cassie who has no wand on her."

"Fine. I'm sorry. K? I won't do it."

"What did you give her?"

"Fire Whiskey. She had a bit too much." he said scratching the back of his head.

"You should've stopped her."

"I know! But we were having too much fun."

"Fine... I'll let this slide and won't tell anyone. If I did, then not only would you be in trouble, but so would Cassie."

"Thanks." he said. And they both took Cassie back to her room. And when she hit the bed, she automatically passed out.

She woke up the next day with a banging headache and fuzzy memories of what happened. But she was happy to have had a date with Terrance after a long time.
