49| I Hate You
We had to act fast. The longer the spell lasted, the worse it got. As we were running around trying to find Laura, I stopped dead in my tracks. Laura was cursed before I even came in to this timeline? Who cursed her?
"Cass? I think I found her." I saw her sitting in a corner, just sitting there staring off. Tears stained her cheek.
We went towards her, and se suddenly got up. "Cassie. Did you find anything to help me?"
I nodded and asked her to follow me. I held her hand, just incase she got dazed or mind controlled and decided to escape.
We took her to the same classroom and closed the door. But someone knocked on it, just as fast.
"Yes?"
"What are you doing? This is a secluded class." said the I suppose 2nd year student.
"We're.... planning for the new Gryffindor Party."
"There's a party?" he asked excitedly. He was a gryffindor; I knew from the tie.
"Yes.. Only 7th years."
"Why's there a Hufflepuff then?"
"She's a friend. She can stay."
"And why is that girl being tied to the chair?"
"Um..." I looked over at Anne, who was indeed doing that; oblivious to the fact that the student was seeing it all.
"We're playing a game. Like testing a spell that we learned today. Um... Research."
"Oh... Well Professor Dumbledore asked me to inform you that he want's to see you in his office. Now."
"Now?"
"Yes. That's what he said."
"Okay. You can get going."
The kid took a final look inside and I started to get annoyed. And I showed that I guess, because he hurriedly scuffled off.
"Anne I'll be back. Don't open the door until I'm back."
-------
"So you're saying you found the way for me to go back?" I asked, sitting in front of Dumbledore. The old familiar locket that got me here 4 years ago, lied on the table.
"Yes... You're free to go. If anything else is to be told about the future, store them in my pensieve. And write on it, when we should look at each. You can finally go back home."
I didn't have to think twice. "No thank you."
"But isn't this what you wanted? To go back home?" he asked confused, but his face showed that he knew the answer already.
"At first when I arrived. Yes. But now, No. This is my home, I have things to do here. I found a new life. I can never come back here again. I can see my family. Maybe not now, but maybe, hopefully in a year or two. I'll take a plane, and go visit them. In disguise maybe. But I don't want to go back." I said. Memories of both my past life, and my life here in the wizarding world rushed through my mind.
"Very well then, it will be right here in my drawer, if you ever decide to go back."
I didn't want to anymore. Coming here was my dream. A dream that I'm sure that not many muggle Potterheads got. I have a life here. I knew that I didn't want to go back. Ever.
I exited the room, and walked back to the secluded classroom.
-----
I came back to see a mess of a room. Broken desks and benches. And Annalise at the corner of the room, but Laura no where to be found.
"Anne!" she was sitting in the corner, looking at her elbow which was scratched. "She escaped." she breathed out.
"Are you okay?"
"Ya, just a scratch. But the room definitely isn't."
"I guess she fought didn't she?"
"I tied her down, and then clasped on the other necklace that you wore, onto her. Guess that was the mistake."
"There was a spell before that. Um... on the top of the parchment." she took a look and said, "Oh.. my bad. I'm so sorry Cass."
"It's fine. Mistakes happen. Let's try it tomorrow, she's gonna be alert."
She nodded, and we started fixing up the place. "Wait! Where is the necklace?" I asked.
"It's right there on the table right? I removed it from her, before she escaped." she said, coming over.
"It isn't here. Are you sure?"
"Yes- Cass?"
"Ya?"
"I think she might've took it."
"Freaking shangle bottoms!" I exclaimed, kicking at the desk.
"What does that mean?" she asked.
"I have no idea. Just came to my mind."
"Anyways, we'll try tomorrow. She's got both necklaces and her mind will be on high alert. She might attack again."
-------
It's been 2 weeks, but Laura was ignoring us. Or more like her mind controlled self was. Whenever we went close, she became dazed, but the good thing was that she wasn't wearing the necklace that I wore. It was probably somewhere else. I kept a close watch on her, and I knew that she didn't go back to Walburga.
Draco was getting more and more stressed. He got another letter, asking him to hurry up and he was getting frustrated. Whenever he ran out the halls in fear or anything really, I followed to make sure he was okay.
We met quite late today, and was heading back to our common rooms since it was late. Since it was past curfew, he demanded that he drop me back at the "lions' den" as he called it. Stressing that since he was a prefect, he wouldn't get in trouble.
I agreed, since it was fine. It was quite a walk, since we were going from side of the castle to the other. But when we reached half way, we heard a noise and a shadow coming closer and closer. "I can smell some students in the hall..." sand a voice, which we identified as filch. We frantically looked for a classroom or hidden pillars or something, but it was a straight hall and the only thing there was a small room.
I pointed towards it, and we went inside. It wasn't spacious. Probably the smallest broom closet ever. It was hot, and extremely cramped and uncomfortable. Never in my life, did I ever get this close to Malfoy.
Filch whistled and walked away, and when his voice became so faint that we couldn't hear it anymore, we walked out. We both took a deep breath, and dashed back to the common room.
----
I entered the common room, in hopes of going to my dorm and sleeping. It was a very tiring day, and my head was buzzing with potion theory.
"Look who's back." said a voice from the couch.
"Hi Harry. Shouldn't you be in bed?" I asked.
"Harry, I don't think this is a good idea." whispered Hermione.
"Well shouldn't you too?" he asked.
"Ya... I was in the library. Homework you know? Newt year is hard."
"What was the book about? History of Malfoys?"
How the frick did he know? Oh now I know, I thought to myself as he pulled out the Marauders Map from his back.
"I know you were with Malfoy." he said.
"Were you spying on me?!"
"Nope. Just checking in cause' we were suspicious. You kept going missing when Malfoy was, and you stopped giving rude remarks and looks to each other."
"It could've been a coincidence you know?"
"It could've been. But Malfoy and you seem too close you know? Like today?"
"Wh-"
"In the broom closet?"
"Come one we were hiding from Filch."
"So you agree that you were with him."
"You already knew!"
Harry and I started bickering, and Hermione tried to stop us in vain. But one line made us all stop. "You're a traitor. Being friends with Malfoy, now what's next? Getting marked as a death eater?"
"I'm not a traitor." I said gritting my teeth.
"Come one Harry, go to bed. We're all tired." started Hermione.
"Don't you understand Mione'? She's betraying the order. Just like Pettigrew."
"So now you're comparing me to that evil man? Harry!"
"What? You know everything about the order. You can easily leak it all?"
"I would never. ever. do that. You're all my family. I love you all an-"
"Well I hate you. I never should've trusted you. I'm gonna tell Dumbledore too."
"Well then go ahead. Do what you want. I quit." My words were strong, but my heart was breaking; crying. He was like my little brother, since Sirius was around. He was family, and it hurts when family tells you, that they hate you.
