4. Lilly
The flight wasn't long. It was barely an hour. I had less than that to mentally prepare for living in a new town. For once I was glad I'm leaving. I didn't need to fear bumping into Jenna or Rick.
After the day at the diner, I blocked Jenna in all social media and I removed her from the visitor's list. She was supposed to be on my side. Not sleep with my husband.
I didn't bother giving my parents my flight details, because then they'd insist coming to the airport and that'd involve me seeing Jenna again. I wasn't planning to do that for a while.
Just before I was supposed to turn my phone off, my dad told me that his friend's son will pick me up and I have to room with him until I can afford an apartment. Dad knows I refuse to use his money.
I didn't get any more details of the guy I'll be living with for the next few months. Just my luck it is. I'm not surprised dad knew about my flight.
As soon as I got down collected my luggage and walked out I saw too many people and I'm not sure I can find that someone waiting for me.
I was going to text dad, but I saw a board with the name Adler on it. A guy was holding it. I couldn't see him from here, but I could say he was tall, and he was wearing a suit.
"I think you are looking for me" I told him once I was standing next to him. "Lilly Adler"
My jaw dropped when the guy turned around. He was drop dead gorgeous. All the photos on the internet didn't do him justice.
My second immediate thought was to call dad and ask why he didn't feel the need to inform me that the guy I'm going to be living with is the same guy I Moved to the city for
"Hi, I'm Archer Matthews" He said, even his voice was perfect.
"You are my boss" I said dumb folded.
"Not outside of the office. I don't want all those formalities outside the office. Now come on let's go. It's a long drive back home"
The ride to the house was almost as long as the flight. We pulled into the parking of an apartment complex. I'm not surprised to see how grand it was. Of course people like Archer Matthews lived somewhere like this; wouldn't be much of a surprise if he lived in the penthouse.
Guess where the elevator stopped?
Bingo.
The living room was large. It had couches on one side that are facing the television and on the other side was an open area that led inside the house.
"I'll show you to your room. You can freshen up and meet me back here for dinner." He told me making way into a room. I followed him. The room had plain white walls. A king sized bed in the middle and a bathroom on one side. There was a large window that overlooks the city. A couch was on the other wall.
"It's beautiful" I told him.
"You can paint it if you like. And you can let me know if you want any visitors added to the list."
I nodded not bothering to tell him that I will not be having anyone visit me anytime soon.
After I took a shower, I walked back into the kitchen. Archer was standing next to the stove stirring something.
"I'm making some pasta. Unfortunately it's the only thing i can make without making you want to throw up.
The thought made my stomach turn. I pushed it aside and made way towards him.
"I have some beer and vodka. If you like, I would open up some wine. What do you say?" he asked
"I don't drink" I told him, grimacing slightly.
"Good then, I have some litchi juice" the thought of litchi juice made my mouth water. "It's in the fridge, you can pour yourself some" he said taking out a glass.
I thanked him, pouring the liquid in the glass and drinking it in a go. I noted to myself that I had to get a lot of this juice.
Fifteen minutes later the dinner was ready. Archer served them into plates and we sat at the table with glasses of the litchi juice.
"So let's dig in" he told me holding up his fork. I took a spoonful of the delicious looking food and as soon as I stuffed it into my mouth, my stomach turned.
Don't get me wrong, it didn't taste bad. It was the opposite, it tasted delicious. It tasted as good as it smelled. It was as if my body couldn't take the food in.
I pushed back the feeling and drank some of my drink and started eating again.
"How was it?" Archer asked after a while.
As soon as I opened my mouth to tell him that it was delicious, bile rose in my throat. I rushed to the nearest bathroom and puked the contents of my stomach.
I felt someone gather my hair and rub my back.
"Are you okay? Are you going to get sick again?" Archer asked when I leaned back to breathe. I shook my head telling him that i was fine.
He gave me a few minutes alone to brush my teeth and come out.
"Are you okay?" he asked me after I came out.
"Yeah, I'm good."
"That was the only good thing I could make" He said referring to the food.
"The food was delicious. It's probably the journey or something, I was sick for the past few days. It's not the food"
"It doesn't make me feel any better. Do you need to visit the doctor?"
"No I'm Fine" I told him shrugging off. "I'm just tired, I'll head to bed"
"Are you sure?" he pressed, "Do you still want to start work tomorrow? You can take a day or two off"
"I'm fine. I'll see you tomorrow?"
"We start here at eight" he said waving me goodnight and heading back to his room.
I did the same. Washed and dressed for the night. I have a big day tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it.
